Just wanted a straight up furnace tune-up and filter change, but I got a gold club membership, an estimate on a humidifier, a thumbs down note without elaboration, on one of their furnace check list items, an incorrect note saying that he had replaced the filter, and another incorrect note saying that he had replaced the batteries on a CO/smoke detector. I did talk to the tech over the phone (my daughter was at the house) and, when I asked about the filter, the tech claimed that we needed a non-standard filter, which they don't carry. When I asked whether he could go pick up the filter, or come back another day with the correct filter, he said no. When I asked whether they would would make an effort next year to carry that filter for my service call, he said no. Hardly a paragon of good customer service. He did credit me $20 for the cost of the filter, but that was after much haggling. Followup: after reading this review, a very nice lady from Applewood called and wanted to make things right. She refunded the entire cost of the service.

I had a toilet leaking in a rental. Renter was not sure what the problem was. I called applewood and agreed to pay a tech to troubleshoot. He advised me that the toilet was leaking between the tank and the bowl. I had 3 options he could chase down seals as it isn't parts they stocked and replace them. He estimated about $350. I could buy a new toilet and he would replace the old one with the one I purchased for $700, or he could sell me a toilet and do the work for $1,200. None of these seemed palatable so I left work to investigate for myself. The bolts that held the tank to the bowl were not even hand tight. I tightened them and the leak stopped. The technician did not even mention or investigate the bolts. I could have spent upto $1,200 to fix loose bolts.

They are professional and knowledgeable. The quality of service has been great.

The switch was replaced in less than ten minutes. The guy came up and told me that there was a gas leak in my furnace and that the plumbing to my new water heater, which was less than two months old, was a hack job and needed to be replaced. The estimate was $3800. I asked him if he was going to red tag my furnace because of the leak and that I would be calling Public Service right away. He started backing down about the leak, it wasn't bad, actually not bad at all but the work still needed to be done. He saw an old lady alone and he was taking advantage of me. What a scam! They get a commission on what they up sell and it was disgusting. I knew enough to know he was trying to frighten me. What do other elderly people do??? Shame on this company. No ethics what so ever. Will never do business with them again.

They are very good. He told me there wasn't any leakage in the toilet, and he left. It was fine.

They were prompt. Did inspection and flush. Since I have 2 water heaters I had him review both. Informed me that one could not be flushed due to age and to be cautious going forward and informed me that I may need to get a new water heater. No pressure just courtesy information. When it is time to change it out I will probably use them.

They are very pricey and they try to sell you different plans. The service was fine.

In the middle of the night, my furnace stopped working and it would not heat, so I called Applewood early in the morning. I called at 6:00 AM and was pleasantly greeted and given an appointment time. Applewood gave a two hour window for arrival time, between 12:00 and 2:00pm. Applewood's HVAC service technician, JR Miller, arrived at about 1:20. JR was very polite, very professional, and quickly diagnosed the problem. The pressure switch needed to be replaced. After diagnosing the problem, JR gave me time to decide if I wanted him to do the repair or if I wanted to go with a different company. I decided to have JR do the work. He was able to quickly get the part out of his truck, installed it, and checked to be sure it operated properly. I received a 2 year warranty on the work. JR also inspected my furnace during the time he worked on my furnace. JR spent about 1 hr. at my home. He cleaned up, was polite, friendly, and knowledgable. The service call was $29.00. The cost of the pressure switch and installation (installation and checking to be sure it worked only took about 15 minutes total) was $460. The price of the pressure switch and installation was between $80-140 more than one other highly rated HVAC company. This other company had given me a quote of $365 for part and service. I chose to go with Applewood because JR was already at my house and I felt he was a trustworthy professional, even though the repair was going to be more expensive than the highly rated competitor. I am now sitting in my home as it heats back up from a chilly 57 degrees. JR did a great job and I would definitley recommend him.

It went well and we hope to have no more trouble. If we do, the warranty is still in effect. They were very responsive and came within a couple of hours after our call.

It is done. The house is sold. The workman thought it would take three days, but with help got it done in two days.

The plumber was very professional and did a quality job. He had the water off for the minimum time while he installed the new cold and hot water shutoff valves for the new water heater. While installing the new exhaust vent, he noticed the section going to the neighboring furnace was thin, so he replaced it at no additional charge. The final installation included a new drip pan and expansion tank, which are now both required by the building code.

We have used Applewood Plumbing, Heating & Electric for various issues in our home over several years because of their responsiveness & for the most part professionalism. Unfortunately, we have had a few bad experiences that have caused us to no longer use this company. They consistently charge more than their competitors. They charged us $1200 to cap off a gas line that only required 30 minutes of labor. We used this company to not only service our furnace yearly, but at least 2-3 times a winter due to furnace not working (blowing cold air). When we used another company to fix our furnace in November we found out that the ignitor that Applewood was replacing in our furnace 2-3 times a winter was the wrong ignitor as well as the gas pressure settings were not set accurately. Obviously we are not pleased w/the lack of competence & high prices we have experienced with this company & no longer recommend Applewood to friends & family.

It cost $245 for the tech to spend 30 minutes to diagnose what he thought was the issue. He returned the next day with a $39 part and spent 10 minutes installing it. Cost for the second day was $435. To top it off it didn't fix the problem. Complaint emails have gone unanswered.

High quality, professional and prompt service. I've used this company several times in the past. They know what they are doing. They seem to be a little bit more expensive, but you are paying for quality work, prompt service, and knowledgeable technicians. I've used less expensive companies for heating work in the past and ended up paying more to have the work redone. Ask for Tony S. He's the best!

Mike, the service technician, explained that the thermo coupler may be on its way out. Since it had never been replaced, I decided it would be prudent to replace it now rather than having to pay for an additional service call to replace it. I noted that I have a new thermo coupler in an unopened package that could be used as the replacement. He explained that the 2 year warranty would only apply to parts they provide and install. I understood and had him proceed. With the water heater 10 years old, I asked Mike if there was a way to determine the condition and estimate the life expectancy. He commented that by flushing the tank, the water color and amount of sediment could be a reasonable indicator of what is going on. Because the tank had never been flushed, I thought it would be good to have this service performed as well. After examining the bucket of water from the first flush, he commented that the water heater was in excellent condition. He filled another bucket to confirm his initial observation Mike was very courteous and professional, and explained what he would be doing. He was very pleasant and didn't push unnecessary services. I would definitely recommend Mike.

Service call went very well overall -- I pay for yearly membership, save coupons; BUT I do believe pricing is TOO high! I appreciate the fine service and knowledge starting from original phone call, service call to final phone call to assess job done...so my only "dont" at this time is please try to limit prices charged! Due to high quality of jobs performed I use Applewood for air conditioning and plumbing needs, as well as heater care.

The Applewood Service man showed up and was initially professional, I took him down to the water heater and he immediately began telling me that the water heater I had was a bad one that is sold from Home Depot and that water heaters sold at Home Depot are the worst ones to purchase because they don't really have a factory warranty and that Home Depot does not offer any service plan for these type of Water heaters. He then proceded to tell me that if he flushed the system and the seal on the water heater broke, that he would not be held responsible for any damage and that he would not be able to repair the leak and because of this, I would have purchase a new water heater. After that, he proceeded to inspect the system and told me that since the water heater was 8 years old that it was more than likely on its last leg and that if it were to go, it would probably flood my entire basement causing thousands of dollars for repair and it would be in my best interest to buy a new one from him. He then proceeded to pull out some literature and prices on water heaters Applewood offers, when I told him that before I could purchase a new water heater, I needed to speak to my wife and look at our budget, at this point, he asked me to give her a call and talk to her while he waited. I told him that she was busy at work and that I would have to talk to her when she got home. At this point he became very unprofessional and very pushy in regards to selling a new water heater. I told him once again that I needed to speak with my wife and go over our budget and he finally decided that it was time to go. I would not recommend Applewood due to there pressure sales man approach.

They scheduled the call the same day I called. The technician showed up 15 minutes early. We discussed the problems wiht the toilet and possible solutions. I asked if I should replace it with a new one but he advised that it was sturdy and well built but needed new hardware to stop the leak and the mineralization cleared to improve flush pressure. He took care of both.The toilet looks and operates like new. He was quite professional and courteous. I would call this company again for plumbing services.

I was impressed with the flexible appointment time, the technicians thoroughness and friendlyness. I was expecting to have a sales pitch but it never happened. I was happy with the deal.

They came and did a professional job. They found that it did not need to be cleaned. I was happy with the service. They did everything that I asked of them.

Very prompt and professional. The price was high, but we called Applewood because they provide 24 hour service, and one expects to pay a premium for that.

They came to perform the service, but they did not go above and beyond.
