My breaker had gone bad in my house so my electricity was off. The person who came out to help was Brian Bach who I strongly feel cheated me out of all of the money paid. He replaced the breaker and changed the wire in the fan. I got the idea to call to get this company since I saw the ad for the electrical work. Once I had gotten a hold of them to come out someone came out and told me that I needed to ?look at some of the options with our company?, he went through a bunch of things and I kept thinking maybe I do need it and maybe get my house rewired and he said it was for $4200.? He looked at what I had and came next day and brought in all of his stuff and I thought this guy is going to do good work for me.? He started with dining room and took down all the blades for the fan and he was adding wire instead of rewiring the whole house.? He went to the front room and added wire to that and did the bedroom and he was here for two and half hours and he pulled out a piece of paper and said , ?when I was here yesterday you signed this paper and this is a hard copy and you owe me $4200?.? I said, ?you haven?t been here long and only for two hours?, and he said, ?that?s alright! And you signed the hardcopy and I want $4200?.? He got the money from me.? I waited for a month and I was thinking this guy cheated me.? I called his company and spoke to a woman supervisor and I told, ?your man cheated me out of $4200? and she said, ?I can give you $600 back? and I said, ?my lawyer wants more?, but I didn?t have a lawyer at that time and I said, ?he says I need to get $2000?, and I should have said the whole amount but I didn?t. ?I only got a 3rd of it back .There is so much more to say here but this is little more than the jist of it? I think they were very high priced.?? I feel very bad about this guy and I old enough and may have attained enough wisdom to know that something is wrong here.

The tub is still clogged and has always stayed that way. The technician suggested I buy a natural enzyme drain cleaner from him for $60, I declined and found it at Home Depot for around $10. He talked me into their club membership and like a fool I paid $198 for nothing. He talked me into it because I would get my furnace inspection for no cost. That was scheduled for the afternoon of the same day with a different technician. The swamp cooler shut off valve did get installed for $474.11 and is completely over done. At least that works. It looks like a ride from Disneyland it is so big. The furnace guy came in the afternoon and basically told me my furnace was installed improperly although it has worked perfectly fine for the past 11 years. He gave me a bid of $7220 to make all the "repairs" to a furnace that works perfectly fine. He was only there to inspect it and clean it.Plus it was going to cost me $190.57 to clean off a part of the furnace with compressed air, part of my "free" furnace inspection that I had paid $198 for in the morning. I would never use them again and have been completely unhappy about this experience since it happened.
Description of Work: My bathtub was draining slowly. They charged me $381.35 for a tub renew kit, which consisted of replacing the drain stopper and then proceeded to tell me that I needed about $2500 in plumbing repair work done, all for a clogged drain. He also replaced the swamp cooler shut off valve.

I purchased the big deal coupon. They were way overpriced. We also got a quote from them as were looking for someone to move some plumbing in our laundry room and their quote was outrageous. It was over a $1000 for something that we ended up paying may be $200. I do remember that my wife found it comical and said it was just crazy. They did not do any work. Either way on the toilet checkup thing was a waste of time and money. They didn't tell me that I didn't know already and wouldn't do anything. If we talked about anything it was extra.

I have to give Applewood VERY high marks for responsiveness, punctuality, and professionalism. The repair in March was a call out for "No Heat" from the furnace. The technician stated that the "Pressure Safety Switch" needed to be replaced, which was done for $464.00. I was out of town, and had a friend facilitate the transaction, however I will do my research next time so I can be a bit more prepared. I question the pricing due to the following experience with them. I did not price this repair anywhere else, and frankly don't want to know how much I may have overpaid. The call to them I made in June was for "No Hot Water". This time I was involved from the beginning, and the tech was again prompt, professional and polite. He determined what the problem was, then gave me written estimates for replacing the part, or replacing the entire water heater. While the tech prepared the estimate, I got on the phone and called around for prices for the appropriate water heater, and separately for the part needing replacement. I have their estimate in writing, and they wanted to charge me FOUR TIMES AS MUCH for a new water heater installed, and FOUR TIMES AS MUCH for the new part, installed. I decided to replace the water heater using someone else. If you are desperate, and have the money to spare they are very prompt, with friendly service. However, they are VERY expensive...you are forewarned.
Description of Work: This review will cover two calls to Applewood, the one in March for a heating issue and the one in June for a water heater issue. They did a repair in March, and a service evaluation call for a water heater in June.

They dug out the whole line out to the alley on a weekend for no extra weekend rate fees! They filled in the grease pit to close it off after they bypassed it. The last time the grease trap was serviced was in 1930 and these guys handled it with no problem. They were super clean and wore booties inside my home to keep the dirt off my white carpet. I highly recommend them! They also gave me some coupons for repeat business incentive or refering a friend!

I used Applewood Plumbing Heating & Electric, but I was not impressed. The technician wanted me to replace my toilet. He walked in the door and he wasn't here one minute before he was writing up an estimate for a new toilet. He barely had even checked out the toilet. I was left with the impression that this was a means to get into somebody's home to sell them something. He made some adjustments on the toilet and it works fine. I will never use them again, ever, for any service at all.

I am not a fan of theirs. I do not know that much about the plumbing aspect of it. We needed our hot water heater replaced. They wanted us to put an entire new flute system in that was actually designed for a constant hot water source water heater. It would have given them $3500. They tried to tell us we needed to update to the fire code. What they were wanting to put in, is for apartments. I will never use them again. It was for them to tell us what we needed to do for our water heater, it was full of sediment and I told him that we kept running out of hot water. He said that we needed this fancy dandy system and he said we had a 3-inch pipe and we needed a 4-inch pipe and they were going to have to rip it out of the wall and it would be a $3500 job. I understand that they need to up sell, but they need not tell a single house residency that they need to install a system for an apartment complex. I just will not use them again. The service guy that we got was nice. I think the companies service policy is to try to offer things that I do not need is ridiculous. They were definitely on time. The guy that came out was good; the company was unprofessional.

Applewood Plumbing Heating & Electric they are really nice and everything and they are prompt what happens is when they come out for my furnace, my air conditioner and some plumbing, they always say you need a new air conditioner, you need a new furnace. The other thing was the dishwasher and they came out and said I needed a new pump for the dishwasher. Another contractor said all I needed was the stuff you you put in your dishwasher, cleans up the dishwasher inside and he said you try that and I bet you find your dishes are coming clean. He was absolutely right. And he did the same thing with the air conditioner. I'll never use them. They are very nice, I don't have anything against that. They are prompt but you can't trust what they tell you. They don't tell you the truth.

Furnace: They barely looked at the problem (I had found a video on YouTube showing how to replace the igniter - I just couldn't get the part). But they were quick to offer a replacement furnace by the end of the next day. Pipe: The guy looked at it. Saw lots of potential for projects. And stated that he wasn't willing to repair the pipe - but that they would tear up the floor of my bathroom and the ceiling of my kitchen in order to replace all of the bathroom pipes. The technician they sent was pretty snide - as I showed him the door (in shock at the prospect of tearing up two rooms to repair a pipe) he called over his shoulder "Good luck tearing that kitchen apart!" When I first moved to the neighborhood Applewood would work with me on a reasonable solution at a reasonable price. Now it seems their technicians are trained to walk away unless they can sell a project that runs thousands of dollars. I found separate, different service providers who replaced the igniter and repaired the pipe. Total cost for both - little over $200.

They did a decent job on the toilet tuneup on two separate toilets at this residential unit. One issue was that the flusher handle needed repair, and they were unable to perform that at the time. They did offer to come back to do that once the parts were obtained, but the follow-up visit was never scheduled. I was surprised that they did not have the basic parts to replace and fix the flusher, which ultimately means the toilet doesn't still doesn't flush properly. However during the visit the technician also voluntarily inspected the some other plumbing items in the house just to check on them. As a result of that inspection I was informed that the water heater was about to burst. He turned off the water heater and alerted me immediately of the problem. We ended up using a different company to do the water heater installation, But if Applewood hadn't taken the initiative to inspect the water heater, we would've had a major problem because of the basement of this old house does not have a floor drain. So I was very grateful for their follow-up on that and feel that I got a decent value out of the toilet tuneup coupon use from Angie's list.

We were in need of getting a copper 90 degree elbow replaced on our sprinkler system as well as a new garbage disposal installed. The very nice technician quoted us $450.00 to replace the 90 degree elbow and almost $1,400.00 to replace the disposal (including a new disposal). He quoted all of this while maintaining a straight face. The technician informed us that if we joined their "club", the price of the membership would be offset by the savings that club members get. Suffice it to say, I fixed the elbow myself for $32.00 and an hour of my time and have hired another company to do the disposal for less than $400.00 including the disposal. I will never hire Applewood Plumbing to do any work for me in the future and would encourage you to not waste your time contacting this company.

Purchased two $30 Angie's List Deals for Toilet Tune Ups which were supposed to include: Replace the flapper valve Adjust the tank fill valve & set the water level to 1" below the overflow Adjust the tank trip lever & set flush timing Dye test the toilet tank for leaks Tighten the toilet seat bolts When I arrived home, the technician had only been at my house for approx ten minutes. My wife informed me that he needed to replace some parts in order for my toilets to work and it would cost $325 over the top of the $60 that I had already paid. This came as a shock to me because both of my toilets worked before he arrived at the house that day. They were in need of a "Tune Up", and that is why i purchased the deal. I spoke to the technician and inquired about what needed replacing and he told me that the flush/fill lever was bad on one toilet. I had him show me what he meant and he pointed to the flush handle. I asked what that part cost and he told me $158. Keep in mind that the most expensive part I can find from home improvement stores cost around $20. I then asked him to show me what else needed "replacement". He took me to my other toilet (which he had already disassembled) and told me that I needed another part on that tank which hooks up to the chain from the flush handle and it cost $167. At that point I told him that I paid for a tune up and did not want the parts. He said that he performed the service already and the toilets needed the parts to work. I told him no and as he was leaving I had to ask him about the flappers, which I was supposed to receive with my payment. He dug around his stuff, found two flappers, and left them sitting on my toilet. I asked him to leave and decided to call the company to complain and ask about a refund. The only reason I am not giving them an F overall is because the technician was very nice to me and my family and the company did follow up and show up on time; however, this is a bait and switch deal if I have ever seen one! If I would not have made it home before the guy finished, I would have been out over $400 (which is almost enough to purchase two brand new toilets for my home). I am getting ready to move, and wanted to get the toilets working as good as possible before we left them to the buyers of our house. They both worked before the gentlemen showed up that day, and that is why I wanted a tune up, not an overhaul! After speaking to Applewood's customer complaint department, they refunded me almost all of my money for the "Tune Up". I will not be using this company for anything in the future and would recommend that you talk to the technician thoroughly before and during any similar service that you might use them for.
