Dog Walking, Animal & House Sitting
$90
I have never used a dog walking service until just recently. My nine-year-old pug went blind overnight a few months ago, so my husband and I decided to hire a walker on the days that I work 14-hour shifts. Initially, when I met Jess and Ali, I thought this would be a great fit. Over the last few months, the relationship, respect, communication, and overall customer service dwindled quickly. Jess, who mainly walked my dog, was great. It was Ali who was incredibly unprofessional and to make matters even worse; downright disrespectful. Jess came over two-three days per week to walk Baxter. However, one day Ali came over when I was at work, but my husband was at home not feeling well. She unlocked the front door and walked in. Of course, my husband freaked out because there was no knock or doorbell and ran upstairs because he was laying in his underwear, after all it is his house. My husband told Ali not to walk Baxter today, so she left. Soon after, my husband called me and was very upset that Ali just walked into our house with no knock or doorbell. I totally agreed; however, I knew that most likely my husband got a bit upset because of the situation and most likely was not very kind. I went ahead and apologized to Ali for my husbands frightened response to someone walking into her house, and we decided that they would only come during the week, when my husband is not home. I didn't feel that this company had exceptional service, and Ali didn't handle conflict in a proactive, and respectful way. Therfore in the meantime, I had found another company who had more experience and better service that Compassionate Canine and was planning to end the contract with Ali at the end of the week. However last week, Jess came and walked my dog, and my husband happened to be there. This time though Jess knocked and rang the doorbell (like she usually does when I have witnessed her arrival) and proceeded to walk my dog. Jess and my husband had a great conversation, and my husband liked Jess. She walked into our house with respect. She knocked and rang the doorbell prior to entering. However, the next day, I received an email from Ali stating she wanted to drop services with us because she didn't feel comfortable walking our dog when my husband was home. We had agreed that they would walk my dog when my husband wasn't home. I was at work, and I didn't know my husband was at home. If I had known that my husband was at home, I would have cancelled services. However, Jess arrived with respect and didn't surprise my husband when she entered our home. They had a nice conversation. It seems that the only person who has an issue is Ali because my husband had every right to be upset at her for just barging into our house unexpected. I told her that we wanted to cancel also because we had found another company. I asked for her to return the two keys to my house, but she stated she would after the final payment. This was the part that frustrated me the most. See below. So here are my issues with this company:1. We give you a key to our house, and we trust that you will still respect our privacy and safety. Please knock, ring the doorbell and speak upon entering. If you don't, those who might not know you very well, will be startled. They have every right. You might have a key, but you don't just barge in. 2. Don't demand payment until YOU return the keys to MY house. You have the keys to my house. I have children at home. It is disrespectful of Ali to be so rude in her emails about payment. I simply wanted my keys. Why would I pay you first? How do I not know if you would get the money and never return the keys? Ali was so disrespectful during the whole process. At one point, I asked her to leave them under the front mat, and I would leave cash in an envelope. She said no because that is not safe. However, I left keys under the mat during the first visit. Then, I told her I would be home during a four-hour stretch, and we could do an even exchange. She said no. It was her way or the highway. 3. This company does not pet sit. Every time I asked Ali to stay at our house and watch our dog she couldn't. There was one time she was willing to and quot;make a bedand quot; in her house for him. My issue with this is my dog is blind. It is scary for my dog to stay at another house. During the meet and greet, she said they would house sit. That was a lie.4. There is a reason only two people work for this company. They don't have enough business for a reason. I love Jess, and we will miss her a lot. However, Ali, the owner, will never have a successful company if she continues to have poor customer service. In addition, learn how to negotiate and be respectful of your clients. 5. Don't demand payments randomly. I was told the bill would come every two weeks. Instead, I got them weekly. I work 14-hour days and don't just pay bills daily. Be more consistent about sending bills, if you demand payment on the day the email is sent. She made everything more difficult than it had to be. That is what frustrated me the most. IT IS RUDE, DISGUSTING, and the worse service ever. I am so glad we have found another person to walk our dog.
