This contractor billed us exorbitant fees for parts and labor for two repairs: #1 On 10/14/08 John from Bob's Heating came out to repair a zone valve. He only replaced the power head because he was afraid to remove the entire zone valve because he thought one of the gate valves which isolated the zone valve was leaking. It was not! He left without fixing the problem or giving us an estimate of the price while he was there. Bob's charged $217 for a power head which I can buy over the counter from my supplier for $68. He charged for several hours of labor for a valve replacement that takes about 15 minutes. #2 On 8/28/08 John from Bob's Heating replaced a bearing assembly, coupling, and impeller for a circulating pump on the hot water system. Bob's charged $288.34 for parts which I can get over the counter for approximately $144. He charged $280 for labor for a repair that actually took about an hour of actual work time. I was charged for his time at their exorbitant hourly rate for his travel time to acquire the parts. That is not fair
Response from BOB'S HEATING & AIR CONDITIONING
"Mr Heineman was not at the property when the work was done and had his apt. manager relaying information. He would not listen to John or even try to comprehend what John was trying to tell him over the phone. If Mr Heineman can get parts at our wholesale price, then he should go ahead and do the repairs himself. We do not carry boiler parts on our trucks as we do not typically work on them. John, however has extensive boiler knowledge and did the job needed. We do not believe we could hove done any work for Mr Heineman that he would have been please with, he was just that type."
