""I never met this person nor did I speak with this person, nor did I ever have an appointment scheduled with this person." Let me please shed some light on this persons misplaced frustration, and give you a little insight on how I run my business. "I am an owner operator with 30 years of experience running my business. I perform up to three sprinkler repairs per day in multiple cities. With that being said, I don't have the luxury of sitting by the computer responding to emails however, I answer my phone when it rings and return my calls generally within 5 seconds...unless I'm in a crucial part of a service repair for a valued and paying client. In that event, I'll complete my repair and then return my phone calls out of respect for my clients." For the aforementioned reasons, I have all of my contact info listed on my Angie's List profile page: Inland Landscape and Irrigation est. 1989. Owner Richard Durbin Cell phone 951.634.3912. I am a licensed California Contractor with industry certification in basic and advanced Irrigation design and installation who specializes in proficient sprinkler troubleshooting and repair. I pride myself on providing professional services to my valued clients and showing up on time. With that being said " anyone who gets that offended without even bothering to call me and speak to me directly about their project needs, my service fee, and my scheduling availability, I have no place in my schedule for folks like this one, by the way, this person never met me, nor had any work performed by me. I will continue to provide my services to all of my wonderful clients whom I am very grateful for. My business philosophy has always been to provide knowledgeable, proficient service, and to give my very best to all of my clients whom I've had the great pleasure of serving the past 30 years and to all my new clients who I continue to meet and serve daily. Sincerely, Richard Durbin"

"When I first reached out to Mrs. [Member Name Removed] I informed her that my immediate schedule was full however, I'd be happy to accommodate her with an 75.00 onsite evaluation and upfront price for the repairs (which I waive if hired). She agreed and I gave her my opening time slot. I thoroughly went through her existing sprinkler system Station by Station (with her) and pointed out why she had hot spots in her lawn, overwatering in her planters, lack of coverage issues throughout and excessive overspray onto her existing wood fence (that had severe h20 damage) and overspray onto her house stucco, concrete sidewalks, patios, and onto her freshly painted car. It appeared that the previous homeowner and or, an inexperienced person installed the existing sprinkler system that she inherited in 2004 when she purchased the home from the previous owner. I informed her that her current system had Lawn and planter zones combined together on the same circuits, resulting poor H20 coverage to her existing lawn area and explained in detail what this would require to fix properly due to her existing mature plants and existing concrete, making this task more labor some. I made suggestions based on my evaluations and provided her with upfront pricing. I also suggested that I could bifurcate this bid (separate the front yard from the back) and perform this work in sections to help accommodate her by doing the backyard work first. This would allow her some time in between these tasks and she could reach out to me when she was ready to complete the front yard. She paid me for my onsite evaluation and I told her that I will credit this 75.00 fee off job if I was hired. Based on my 30 years experience as a business owner and a licensed contractor who is certified in basic and advanced sprinkler systems, I know the proper steps needed to correct poorly installed existing sprinkler systems so that they will perform optimally and efficiently. I try to be a good steward of our precious water supply and install and repair sprinkler systems properly. Regards, Richard Durbin owner of Inland Landscape and Irrigation est. 1989."
"Let me first start by stating that I gave a courtesy call the day prior to my arrival, as is my customary practice, and I arrived in time promptly on Saturday morning. This member agreed that my onsite service call fee if 75.00, which I waive If I am hired for the repairs needed. I performed a very thorough onsite evaluation and upfront price for the many repairs needed. It's worth mentioning that this system was very very old. The clock would not allow for any manually programming operations and it would also not allow for any input that be added or changed. This resulted in me having to use my diagnostic tool to check wire continuity and fire the existing valves up via this device. The wire continuity checked out however, the original and very old brass anti syphon valves along with the equally old brass valve actuators where so rusted and corroded theywould not turn on via the manual bleed screews. I provided an upfront price for all of the needed repairs and presented it to this customer. He said and I quote "I was wanting to spend about half that amount, and hemmed and hawed for 20-30 minutes. I said " I've diagnosed everything for you and you can take this valuable insite and repair it yourself and simply pay me my 75.00 agreed service call fee for my time and expertise. He said" No I want it done today and repeatedly continued wasted my time trying to haggle with me asking me repeatedly 10-12 more times to negotiate." I simply told him, that my price is non negotiable and price this is based on my repair experience with older systems and the large amount of work that was needed. The client stated "Richard you stay completely calm as I try this haggle with you. I just said "The cost of doing business legitimately in the state of California is costly, and I try to keep emotions out of things and do my job professionally. Quite frankly, I did encouraged him too just cover my evaluation cost, so that I could get to my next client. He repeated he wanted it fixed today and would pay the deposit and balance upon completion and after paying the deposit, he asked for a discount again...I promptly completed all the repairs outlined on the contract and showed him my completed work. It's also worth mentioning I offed him three differ payment options. I was not feeling at all comfortable with this customer at this time because he asked me if he could post date his check several days out. This is why I asked for a deposit from him. He asked me to fix an unrelated broken sprinkler pipe and some other clogged sprinkler heads, which I did "at no additional expense"!!! and left him some additional nozzles for him... He asked him if everything was done today his satisfaction and he said yes. I shook hands and left for my next scheduled appointment.
