Everything went great. Dan came out and went over what we wanted to get done. His team arrived when scheduled and worked to keep the schedule even though they ran into a lot of difficult roots in our patio area. About half way through the job, we decided to extend the patio area and they were very open and responsive to our change. We had a great experience working with Dan and his team and are very happy with our new driveway, walkway and patio.

't I planned this work for over a year and received multiple quotes. From the beginning Dan was the only guy who would quote me cost per square foot of finished concrete, which says a lot I think. I'm pretty sure the crew was at my house every day for at least a week to get everything done, so I got to know them pretty well.
The initial project plan was only half as big as the finished project, but they were doing such a good job that as the project went along I ended up doing more and more, and finally replacing every concrete and brick surface around the entire house. I am very glad we did, because it definitely needed replacement, all surfaces match perfectly now and the property looks (and drains) much better than it otherwise would have. The lot drainage was also completely redone at the same time with area drains in the concrete and every planter and softscape surface on the property. There were multiple on-the-fly changes to the drawings but Dan's crew never missed a beat and everything came out looking spectacular. We get compliments on it all the time and in fact just sold the house.
There were several details like electrical conduit, sprinkler lines and drains to work out beneath the concrete and it was all done perfectly the first time. Ditto for alterations to a retaining wall and a garbage can enclosure. Several changes to concrete forms were made literally as the forms were being made, walking out my front door on the way to work in the morning chatting with the foreman Miguel. They were all done perfectly by the same afternoon when I came home, just as I had described them. When you are working with people this good at what they do, communication is easy and they brought a lot of great ideas to the table that I might have overlooked.
I will definitely use Dan again and in fact have already contacted him about doing work at our new house. I had to work pretty hard to get him to come up to my area, which is understandable as it is a long trip for them, and they had done a lot of bidding up here only to be passed over for the final work. Dan finally just asked me to guarantee him that if he came in with a fair quote that we would seriously consider him for the job, which was no problem. In retrospect, for this sort of thing I cannot envision hiring anyone else. It was a first class experience from start to finish and the price was very fair compared to some other quotes I received.
I waited two and a half years to write this, but I was just looking Dan up for the next project and it seemed like most of the reviews on here were about smaller jobs. I thought some experience from someone with a medium-sized residential project might be useful to other customers.
Knowledgeable, no nonsense, easy to deal with, showed up when they said they would, did the job skillfully and worked super hard every day until it was complete.

Weeks before the pour, the old concrete was demolished, A low bed dumpster was delivered by Waste Management then the old concrete was placed into the dumpster along with any dirt that needed to be removed. The area was graded then rebar was placed on the ground. The day the concrete was poured the rebar was tied, a concrete pump was brought onsite along with several finishers. Once the concrete truck showed up the job started and was completed in about 2-4 hours. It was like a well orchestrated ballet. I am very pleased with my new patio and Dan Gerber's service!

Dan was very prompt for quote gave breakdown of services to be provided and provided a written quote. Calls were returned in a timely manner.  The two employees showed up promptly at 0645 and worked until finished prepping the area being very meticulous. Due to rain cement was laid three days later once again employees showed up promptly and did an excellent job.  The area was left clean and the workers put the lattice fence back up to keep dogs from walking on wet cement.  I was very pleased with Dan's service and would definitely use again.

We called and Dan answered immediately. He was kind enough to come over that day to give us a bid but because he was our first, we went thru the process of getting 4 bids. His price came in 3x more than what we ended up going with but, in his defense, this was a small 90 sq ft job that most contractors don't want to be bothered with (two didn't even have the courtesy to call us back). Dan couldn't have been more prompt or professional and we would consider him again if we had a bigger job to make it worth his while.

This was an enormous job. Two hundred and twenty one tons of cement were taken out and then replaced. It was an expensive undertaking. We interviewed 5 contractors and Dan's price was a little higher than Some, but he worked with us to settle on a fair price that included issues we were concerned about. For example, replacement/repair of irrigation pipes that was bound to happen since they were located very close to the edge of the driveway. Dan also offered to repair some pavers leading to the front door at his own expense just to make the end result of the job look perfect. Everyone on the job, was professional and communicated well. I was almost in shock as gigantic machines moved in on our driveway to break up cement and truck it away. But everything went smoothly and on schedule. I would highly recommend Dan and the men that work with him. This job could have been a nightmare, but instead it came together beautifully. We love our perfect new driveway with the diamond design at the entrance(Dan's idea). Thanks, Dan and Jim.

I was very pleased with how this project went and couldn't believe the amount of coordination involved. They started on a Monday morning, right on time, and began the demo. The demo took longer than they thought I think and they needed a second bin to haul away all the old concrete. The first day they removed my old patio and about 1/2 of the old concrete. Tuesday they finished the demo and started the grading of the dirt to make sure water would flow appropriately. They also framed the 2 porches and started installing all the rebar. Wednesday they poured the porches and finished the rebar. They used a pump so it was nice and easy. After they had it poured and smoothed out, they put the Top Cast product on so that we could have a sandwash finish that Dan recommended. Thursday they came out and power washed the steps to fully achieve the sandwash finish. Friday they came out and poured slab. We wanted the diamond pattern and I'm glad we did this. They came back on Saturday to power wash the concrete and clean up.
During this whole time, little items here and there would come up that I hadn't thought about such as relocating some plumbing. They did this for me at no extra cost!  Our new patio looks really great and I'm glad we chose concrete over pavers.

The cement work is pretty good, although not perfect. The brick work ended up looking okay after having to tear out and re-do again certain parts on different area. We got two bids and they were the lower of the two so I think they were reasonable considering the scope of the work for pricing.

It was good. They did everything like they were supposed to. The cost was reasonable enough. They were responsive.

They were good! The job took 2 days. I would absolutely hire them again.

This was the second time I used Dan and he was great. The only thing is I caught one of his guys peeing in a bucket in the backyard which is kind of disgusting. I told Dan they could ask to use our bathroom and he took care of it. Anyway, His guys dug trenches, laid 4 inch pipe, installed drain basins, poured a really nice walkway with built in drains connected to the main drainage. I'll have him out for a bid again and will probably use him because he's an honest guy with pretty good prices.

The crew arrived on the day and time they said they would.  Dan, the owner, couldn't have been better to work with.  His motto is "we're not done until you're happy."  Miguel, the foreman, was a perfectionist and extremely cooperative and helpful.  His crew worked hard and were diligent, not sloughing off.  At the end of each day total cleanup took place.  The work done was done with perfection, making sure everything was done perfectly.  After building the forms for the stairs according to the blueprint design I didn't like what I saw so I called Dan and told him.  It was the design that was the problem not the work being done.  Dan called the foreman to let him know.  The next morning the foreman was aware of the issue, asked how I wanted it re-designed and he followed through precisely with the new layout.  The whole team was a joy to work with and they did the extra things for me that I was planning on doing personally at no extra cost.
If you're looking to have work done, don't go anywhere else if you're looking for honesty, professionalism, perfection, friendliness, cooperative spirit, and diligence.  I was pleased with the cost of the services provided.

He never returned my e-mail inquiry. I hired another Angies List contractor who returned my e-mail the same day.

Dan was a pleasure to work with.  He was very patient and responsive.  We ended up having to change our plans the day before they were going to pour the cement and he was so flexible and understanding -- it made all the difference in such a stressful time, not too mention I was just about to give birth to my first son.  We were also having A/C put in at the same time and he worked with them to get the necessary wiring laid under the cement.  Dan knows his stuff and is very honest.  I definitely never felt like he was trying to upsell me or take advantage of me in any way.  Not only that, but my Dad was here and oversaw everything and he was impressed which takes a lot since he has done this stuff himself for many years.  I would definitely use Dan again.  We are very happy with the end product -- it looks great!  Thanks again!
