+ -1 moreI found him on Angie’s List. My experience with him went really well. He runs the business along with his father. They had a hard time diagnosing it. His father came out a couple of times until he could repair it and there were no additional charges. He charged me just for the part; there was no additional charge for labor. They just made it right; they made everything right. It was for a rental property that I have. It was the nicest experience that my tenants had ever had. I dealt with the son over the phone and talked briefly to the father. They were great. They stood behind their work and did a great job. Everything is working as it should be. I chose them because they had great reviews. I spent $148 for their first visit and $65 for the additional part. They did not charge me for another visit. I would definitely use their services again in the future.
Description of Work: I used Lerman Appliances, two months ago. He repaired a stove and replaced some parts of the oven for me.

+ -1 moreVery Prompt and Honest !! My Dishwasher ( A Bosch) was acting strangely , after spending about 40 minutes examining it the serviceman decided that it was a computer control problem. He phoned around to his parts suppliers and gave me an estimate based on what he thought it would cast to fix it. He also advised that it would be probably better to just get a new dishwasher since he couldn't guarantee that that was the only thing wrong with it. Very good advice and much appreciated !!

+ -1 moreWent very smoothly. The technician had to disassemble much of the dishwasher a couple of times to check things and test parts. In the end he put everything back together and left things as clean as when he started.
Description of Work: Our dishwasher was not cleaning well. The technician was on-time, courteous and professional. He explained what he was doing as he worked and appeared to be very honest. Unfortunately the pump motor was shot and the replacement part was $235, not including labor costs, so we decided to buy a new dishwasher.

+ -1 moreUnfortunately, I am out of their service area (bah humbug!), and they were not able to assist me. However, my telephone call was returned within 1 hour, promptly. Even though I am out of their service area, the young man (the Owner's Son), took the time to talk with me, at length, about my repair. I gained knowledge re what I might expect for the type of repair I need (clothes dryer working, but no heat). He gave me a website to view the parts for my dryer so I can be familiar with the type of repair I may need. How nice is that? They’re not doing the repair, but took the time to talk to me about what I may need. Customer Care folks at it’s finest! Now, I know why they have an “A” rating. Thank you for taking the time!

+ -1 moreDon't call anyone else, these guys are the BEST!!! We have a 6yr old LG washer that was leaking from the door. We contacted another rated contractor here on Angies list who came out and diagnosed the problem, ordered a new hinge, came back out and broke the door trying to remove it, ordered a new door, came back out to install the new door only to discover that the door was for the dryer and told me it'd take 3 weeks to get another door. I found a door online and got it here in 2 days. Then they came back and couldn't get a screw out and quit, just said I can't do it. We went to the coin op for 3 weeks while they dicked around trying to fix the machine. LERMAN TO THE RESCUE!!! The office scheduled an appointment for between 2 and 4 and Vitalli was here at 1:50. By 3pm he'd removed and replaced the old hinge and door and we were back in business, no leaking and woking perfectly. These guys KNOW what they're doing and the price was right. Do yourself a favor and call them FIRST. You won't go wrong.

Description of Work: I am over the moon happy with this great company. I called to make an appointment to have my freezer repaired and the very next day Vitaly arrived at the correct time and quickly found the problem and in less than an hour the repair was made. Vitaly was prompt, courteous and knew his business. Now get this....one week later I had another problem with the freezer and on a saturday morning Vitaly returned and at no charge quickly performed the additionall repair. I highly recommend this company. Five golden stars!

Description of Work: Lerman Appliances repaired my brand name gas stove, which needed the electric igniter replaced: Parts: $60 +tax Labor: $120 A.L. Discount: -$20 Time to complete: approximately 30 minutes (two visits, same day) Warranty: 1-year parts; 30 days labor Cost of estimate: $45 but waived in the cost of the repair The service technician, Serge, arrived on time and was curteous but spoke very limited English, fluent Russian. So communication was a challenge at times, especially when I was surprised by the labor for that half-hour job--using only a screw-driver--would cost twice as much as the replacement part. (I've had an automobile tune-up for less.) When I set the appointment the day before, I gave the office my stove's model # and described the part as a round, rod-like assembly. (The Gas Co. had previously pointed out the failed electric igniter because I called them first.) Val, a son in this family-owned and operated business, assured me that having this information would allow the tech to bring the right part with him next day. But the part he brought was an inferior-looking, lighter-weight square block assembly to use on my stove. I raised questions about both the correctness and quality of the part. The tech eventually became irritated and threw up his hands and got on his cell phone to the owner, Vitaly. After a conversation in Russian he handed me the phone, and Vitaly calmly told me that Serge brought the wrong part but they had the correct part and could come back in two hours to complete the repair at the same cost, which is what happened. The job was done to my satisfaction in the end. But I really had to be on my P's-&-Q's to make that happen. The high fee for labor, they said, was competive with others who do this kind of repair. If so, then it's a very sweet gig! Anyway, I don't feel I can trust this company not to attempt to gouge me, or try to increase profit by using inferior parts. The reason I joined Angie's List was because of the need for this repair, so I wanted a company with very good recommendations. Lerman Appliances filled that bill, but I won't use them again, based upon today's experience. Maybe next time, I'll have a better one from Angie's List.

+ -1 moreThey came out to give me an estimate. They ran about an hour late, but had called to say the job they were on took a little longer, and would it be ok to come late. They were knowledgable, professional, polite and helpful. They ordered the parts, called back for the appointment to do the repair, came on time and did the replacement quickly. This is a family owned business, and their desire to do a good job and build their company is obvioius. I will certainly use them again.

+ -1 moreWe were in the process of purchasing a new refrigerator because we thought the old one was using to much electricity and the ice maker did not work. The frig was a built in and when they arrived to install the new refrigerator we were informed that the cut out was 1/2 to LARGE and it could not be installed because of the liability of the installation. WOW 1/2 inch!!!! So I told them to take it back. Now we are faced with a refrig that might go out so I called Lerman to come out and check if it can be fixed, this was about 3:30 in the afternoon. He said that he would be able to get someone to fix the frig between 5:00 - 7:00PM. I said what???? Needless to say David called and said he was stuck on the freeway and would be here shortly. He arrived about 7:00PM and stayed till about 8:30PM till the problem was resolved. The frig is now working like new and I saved $7000.00. Talk about responsiveness, professionalism, punctuality, they are the greatest.
Description of Work: Our ice maker was not working and the refrigerator ran for long periods of time. The ice maker was replaced and the line to the ice maker was frozen and had to be thawed out before it would work properly.

+ -1 moreThese guys are great. I have used them before and will continue to use them in the future. They came to repair my Fisher Paykel dishwasher. It is a notoriously bad dishwasher. Looks good but does not work well. It was turning its self on in the night, the computer was going haywire, error messages galore etc etc. I had Lerman Appliances out 3 times to repair this thing. Every time they came they fixed it, we tested it, it ran fine and then it would break again..... The Tech even gave me his cell phone number in case I had any questions or problems. Who does that??? They are so nice and really want to help their customers! I finally decided that it was time to get a new dishwasher instead of throwing good money after bad. When I called Lerman to tell them it had died again they sent the tech back out to pick up the parts he had replaced (as they had been used maybe 5 times) and he refunded all of my money for the parts and part of the labor!!! I feel like they are part of my family now and wouldn't think of using anyone else!

Description of Work: Our refrigerator was not cooling properly and the water dispenser/ice maker had not worked for several years. Lerman came out and quickly diagnosed the problems and returned to make the repairs within a couple of days. They replaced the defrost heater and all of the water hoses and tubes. The old ones were brittle and cracked and had slowly leaked water over time.

The appointment window was between 12PM and 3PM, and the tech was at my house at 12:19PM. He diagnosed and resolved the problems by 12:40PM - quick and professional. The cost was almost exactly what I was expecting and I got a discount for finding them via Angie's List. Great and reasonably priced service. I would definitely recommend Lerman's to others and will use them again in the future without hesitation.

+ -1 moreOur refrigerator wasn't working properly. The freezer wasn't staying cold and that made the refrigerator warmer than it should've been, too. The owner, Vitally, researched the problem and said that it seemed we had a freon leak but he couldn't locate it without coming back with another piece of equipment. He let me know that even if the leak were located, that might not solve the problem since there could also be a compressor problem. Given the age of the refrigerator (10 years), he suggested that we consider applying what would be a $500 Vifix toward a new refrigerator instead. While my husband and I pondered that decision, he moved upstairs to replace the rubber gasket (door) in our front-loading washer and a barrel fin in our dryer. The work was done promptly, with minimal mess, and I found Vitally to be courteous and professional (as was his son, Val, who scheduled the appointment). The good news is that whatever he did while researching the refrigerator problem seems to have resolved the issue. The refrigerator is working fine now and, in fact, the ice maker has never worked better. So, a misdiagnosis on the freon leak, but I would still call them again if we needed help.

+ -1 moreI contacted Viking directly for the name of a repairman and they gave me a few names. I called one of them and a guy came out and he gave me an outrageous estimate for the repair which included new igniters and a thermostat. I called another one of the companies Viking suggested, and their fee sounded like it would be more than the first! Then I checked Angie's List and got Lerman's name. Their fee to come out was significantly less, and once the repairman arrived, he said that I didn't even need a new thermostat. I felt badly, because I had kept the repairman waiting outside for a while, but he was delightful and wasn't upset at all. I had an excellent experience, and will use them again... although I hope not too soon.
Description of Work: The oven and broiler igniters on my Viking stove weren't working properly. He replaced both.

+ -1 moreOn first visit, the problem was diagnosed and the technician wanted to explain the problem. However, I had done research on the internet on the problem and knew he was correct. Since he had to order the evaporator a few days passed. When the part arrived he installed it quickly and the problem was solved. The only concern I had was that there was no invoice from Sub Zero to confirm the cost of the evaporator. I was advised that sub Zero does not provide that information with every order and that they bill monthly.I am very pleased with how the refrigerator is operating at this time.
Description of Work: The technician replaced the evaporator on my Sub Zero refrigerator. A previous technician (from another company)had failed to diagnose that problem and just replenished the freon.
