I left a message in the morning and received a prompt and very polite call back from Vale, the owner's son. A few hours later another son, Ilya(sp), showed up. He was equally as polite and very professional. After testing the dryer he went outside to examine the vent. He informed me that he had found the problem, a dead animal (possum) under a bush right beneath the vent. He kindly and sincerely apologized for charging the $35 service fee since it wasn't the dryer. Moreover, he removed the panel from the front of the dryer and did an inspection since he was there, which I was thrilled was fine. He suggested I call animal control. I did and amazingly they showed up within an hour. This will be the only appliance repair company I will ever call! Very knowledgeable without a trace of arrogance. A truly wonderful family business that I wholeheartedly recommend!

They were the only company we found who understood the problem and said they could fix it. When they came out, they said they had to order parts but would return. On the 2nd visit, they had some but not all of the necessary parts. Even so, they asked us to pay in full for the work though not completed. We did not pay until they came out a 3rd time with the final parts and completed the work. Nonetheless, the quality of work was good and we would use them again.

I could not be happier. We had been putting up with an increasingly noticeable, yet intermittent rattle for a few weeks, which we could not isolate. I was certain the rattle was a sign of a larger problem. We finally got so fed up that we decided to call someone. Based on their positive feedback, I called Lerman Appliance at ~2:00pm and they agreed to send someone out that evening after I got home from work at ~6:30pm, and the only charge at this time would be a $35 service call charge (waived if they find a problem and we hire them to fix it). Vitaliy showed up at the appointed time and went straight to work. He explored a number of potential causes for the rattle, and even after finding what he thought was the source, checked a few other places to be certain, then waited a few minutes to ensure the noise didn't start up again (as I had mentioned that at times the noise subsides then starts up again). In the end, all it cost was the service call fee. Vitaliy could have easily blamed the problem on something else, or suggested replacing parts due to the age of the refrigerator, or charged some additional fee for solving the problem, but instead he just asked if I was satisfied with the solution and that I give him a call if anything starts to happen again. He could not have been more friendly or more professional. They're going on my speed dial for the next time we need an appliance repaired!

From the initial phone call taken by his son, Mr. Lerman's company was completely customer orientated. Vitaly was on time, knew what he was doing and provided clear options. Pricing seemed to be fair. I would not hesitate to recommend his company to others.

Repairman arrived during the appointment time frame. He installed the dishwasher, tested that it worked and showed me some of the features. Cost was less than quotes from the store where I purchased the dishwasher. Next time I need a repair, I know who to call.

I called and left a message after hours that my refrigerator was malfunctioning. The next morning, I received a polite call and was told that someone would be out that evening between 6-8 p.m. As promised, the owner Vitaly arrived at 6:10 and promptly checked out the problem. He said it could be one of three problems, and quickly determined it was a broken thermostat. He cleared the freezer, replaced the thermostat, used a hairdryer to defrost the ice that had formed, and the mopped up the water. He was polite, informative, quick, and thorough. The price included the Angie's List discount - very reasonable and great service!

Very impressed from the first phone call. They told me what the possible causes might be on my dryer that was not heating up. They arrived on time. Ilya the tech was so polite and informative. Reassured me it was normal for the dryer to be so dirty behind the panel. Gave me a reasonable quote before he replaced the thermal fuse. And left my laundry room cleaner than when he got here. Also gave me a one year guarantee on parts instead of the usual 3 months.

Vitaliy arrived within the two hour appointment time and went right to work. I explained that I a rat had been living under the dishwasher and I could see it had chewed through a hose. Vitaliy quickly installed a new hose and proceeded to test for leaks and that there was not other damage. He discovered that the rat had chewed through the plastic tub as well and that it could not be repaired. Dishwasher was not repairable, but I was only charged for the service call. He suggested some replacement models and offered to install the new dishwasher at a discount to what I am quoted by the store. I will definitely have him install it when it's delivered.

They were prompt, courteous and were very efficient doing the work. They saw the problem, got on to it and were out.

Mr. Lerman arrived on time and was pleasant. He diagnosed that the compressor on my Jenn-Air refrigerator was no longer operative and needed to be replaced. He said the problem was between the compressor or a relay but determined it was the compressor. He gave me an estimate of $850 to replace the compressor. He seemed concerned about the cost and encouraged me to call Maytag to see if the compressor was still under warranty (it wasn't.) He left with my agreement to go forward with the repair. Upon further thought, I decided to get a second opinion from a Maytag-approved repair company. The second company, Universal Appliance, came out and immeidately knew that it was the relay switch and it was replaced for a quarter of the cost of a new compressor. Either Mr. Lerman incorrectly diagnosed the problem or he was trying to trying to make an uneccessary and costly repair on my refrigerator. I am glad I got a second opinion from a servicer approved by the maker of may refrigerator.

I told the management company to call Lerman Appliances to fix the problem. It was on a Sunday and Lerman answered the call and agreed to come over first thing on Monday morning. Monday morning they were there during the time frame they promised. They diagnosed the problem immediately and quoted us a great price with the discount. They were clean, precise and I never heard anymore complains from the tenant. They sent us the invoice a few days later by e-mail with the agreed amount and everything clear and spelled out including the warranty provisions. They are great company and even my neighbor and friends have nothing but great things to say about them. I have them on my contact list and the only once I fully trust to repair any of my appliances

The serviceman from Lerman, Vitaly, came, looked at it, knew what it was, installed a new water valve--my records showed it had been replaced ten years ago, so I guess they get clogged and go bad. Talking to the man on the phone was pleasant, they were all ready with the parts when they came. Such an easy experience!

Went great again! I think Vitaly is getting used to coming here--now it was the washing machine. He determined it was the drain pump and replaced it. Fast, clean, easy... and no new washing machine necessary.

This was a really great experience. The owner, Vitaly, came out to assess the issue and fix the problem. Within the hour my oven was back running, it needed a new ignitor, which he had on his truck. My fridge required a new hinge, which had to be ordered, but they called the very next day letting me know when the part would be in and made arrangements to come out. Vitaly was always on time, extremely professional, really nice and fair. Val, who is at the office and answers the phone, is really great too. I highly recommend this company.. you will be supporting a great local family owned business that is fair, reasonably priced, professional, and gets the job done.

This is a genuine family business and I like it. I originally called very early morning over the weekend expecting a phone machine. Instead I reached a very sleepy young man... the family member who got to cover the weekend calls! I was impressed that they kept a human on call. Dad showed up to do the work - he knew what he was doing and got it done... Unfortunately - after he left, I tried to dry some clothes and the dryer still did not work. I called (during business hours and got immediate response). Dad was here again next morning early with son in tow. Dad was not getting up on the roof to check the dryer vent... but son was gonna get up there... Which he did and found a thoroughly plugged up exhaust which he cleared and cleaned. Of course they had to charge me more for the extra work, but that was both appropriate and their prices are OK anyway. I don't mean to paint too quaint a picture. They family is very professional and don't talk about the business or one another as relatives... I just happened to note the dynamic and asked about it. I think they are great. They are focused and dedicated to customer service. My happy recommendation.

There was nothing wrong with the washing machine except it was overloaded. He didn't charge me to check the machine. He explained why the brackets broke off the dishwasher (it had not been installed properly) and made the repair. He's is really nice and very good at what he does. I would use him again.

Vitaliy showed up on time and well prepared to investigate our problem. He disassembled the lower oven to expose the ignitor assembly and tested it while we watched. It worked perfectly, we had just not given it enough time to ignite. He then put it all back together (in a very methodical and careful manner) and proceeded to disassemble the upper oven. He tested the upper oven ignitor and found that it was no longer working. He also disassembled the broiler mechanism and tested that ignitor, and it worked fine. Luckily for us, only one ignitor was bad. He had the part on his truck and within minutes, he had fixed the oven. I found Vitaliy to be a very knowledgeable and skilled technician. In response to my question about the ignitor mechanism and the release of gas, he drew a diagram and patiently explained to me how the various components function and why gas would not be released without a functioning ignitor. As I mentioned above, he is a very methodical and careful man, very organized and very knowledgeable, very pleasant and very accommodating. We will definitely call on Lerman Appliances again in the future.

I have an old Maytag Neptune washer that has been making horrible sounds during the spin cycle. I had hoped to limp along with it until September because I'm moving and won't need to take my washer with me. However, the noise became so untenable that I realized I couldn't use the machine anymore. I called Lerman, explained the situation, described the noise, and the gentleman said he knew exactly what that sound was. I asked him if he knew how much something like that would cost to fix--under $350, hopefully? I could buy a used machine for that much on Craig's list, (I wanted it to match the dryer). He said since he wasn't a service tech, he couldn't say. I made an appointment for the following week for a tech to take a look--the $35 service fee would be waived if they did the repair work. Vitaly showed up right on time, and I explained the problem to him while he was still standing in the doorway. He shook his head and said, "Oh, I know exactly what the problem is. It's not good. Here, let me show you." We went to the laundry area, he opened the machine and spun the drum for two seconds, nodded and drew me a diagram, showing me the defective part. "This part--the bearing--costs $600. That's just for the part." "WHAT? But I told the guy on the phone that I wouldn't spend more than $350." "Well, he didn't know what the problem was." "He told me he knew exactly what was wrong with it when I described the noise, etc..." Vitaly told me that the part cost $200 last year, but when Whirpool bought Maytag, they raised all the prices. Anyway, he said he would give me a discount on the service call and only charge me $25, and proceeded to write out an invoice. I mentioned that I was an Angie's List customer and went to get my checkbook. When I came back with it, he said, "You know what? Never mind. No charge." And he ripped up the invoice. I thanked him, and he left. I'd say the entire exchange took about three minutes, so I don't feel too bad about not paying him anything. I do appreciate that he didn't charge me a service fee--and I have a feeling I have Angie's List to thank for that! That being said, I would still use the company again, based on the positive past experiences of Angie's List members.

Val, in the office, was very helpful and Vitali did an excellent job. They were honest, and thus hesitant to promise they could fix a fifteen year old machine no longer on the market. Yet Vitali did it, and gave me both the Angie's list discount and a senior citizen discount. Its a family company. A positive experience from beginning to end. Highly recommend!!

This company came within an hour, quickly repaired by dryer, and gave me an Angie's List discount! I had dropped a sponge into the dryer while trying to remove an excessive amount of lint that had piled up underneath the lint tray. I was then afraid to use the dryer, because the sponge had disappeared. Lerman was fast and professional. They retrieved the sponge, did maintenance, and cleaned out the machine.

easy to schedule appointment(s); Vitaly showed up on time both times; was clean and neat in appearance and work; thorough about explaining problem; was very patient in dealing with a difficult product (Viking) to work on...

Checked our Bosch dishwasher and discovered that wiring had been fried. He redid the wiring completely and explained what happened, etc. He was on time and very professional.

I call on Monday evening and a very nice gentleman scheduled a service call for Tuesday. Vitaly came on time and diagnosed the problem and gave me a price. He was very polite and pleasant. The part was ordered and as soon as it came in on Friday, two fellows came to the house and repaired the refrigerator. They were also very pleasant, worked quietly and did the job. I knew from the service company that I used before that the price was fair, in fact lower than I was quoted by that other company. I highly recommend Lerman Appliances
