Child Care - Center
My 5 (at the time) year-old is autistic, and we entered him into the program with quite a bit of trepidation. He had already recieved early intervention services, and had a long list of goals for his first preschool year. All goals were met within the first several months, and he continued to thrive in the setting. My son did not speak at age 4, and just entered kindergarten as an overall "normal" student, and this is phenomenal. His experience at Howonquet Head Start had a lot to do with that.
My youngest son just started there, and he too is doing very well. They have been nothing but a blessing for our family.
The facility is modern, warm, clean, and staffed by a delightful group of well-trained professionals. The attention to detail and follow up at all levels is impressive. Their stated mission is "To provide a safe, loving, healthy, nurturing, culturally rich environment that stimulates growth in children, families and community", and it shows. They are doing it.
Highly, highly recommended.
