Dan's Cleaning

Wow.  As a long time Angie’s list customer, I had to put in a review for Dan’s Cleaning.  I got his name from some friends who have been really happy who in turn got his name from some friends of theirs.  I’ve been thinking of getting some housekeeping help for some time, but the high prices that so many of the services charge put me off.  Anyway, my friends highly recommended him and told me that Dan was reasonable and so after the holidays I called, even though he wasn’t on Angie’s List.  I left a message and Dan called me back right away.   I really wanted to get help asap, and he was very flexible in accommodating my schedule.  To be honest, I was just a little leery of having a male housekeeper but now I’m sold!   Dan was punctual and my first impression was that he was serious, methodical and very professional.  Turns out he’s the whole deal - from scrubbing the toilets to getting the cobwebs in the corners, he does it all himself.   He brought all his own supplies, though he uses my vacuum.   He pulled out a clipboard and checklist and we walked through the house and he noted everything I wanted and afterwards we discussed options.  He said that typically he charges a flat $25 an hour but that if I’d rather, we could settle on a flat fee for the whole job.  I elected to go with the hourly rate and we prioritized my target projects.  I decided to just go with just three hours for the first time to see how it went and how much he could get done in that time.  Dan was very efficient and got more done than I expected and did a great job to boot.  Since then I’ve had him come back for regular service every other week and I couldn’t be happier.  There’s no dusting around objects with Dan, he moves every item and puts it back right where it was (a miracle based on some earlier experiences with other cleaners!).  I’ve had him stay longer when I want something more than just “routine” cleaning and once he came on a Sunday when I was going to have a party.   I will say he’s not too “chatty”, but I really like the way he gets right to work.  You can tell he takes pride in the job he does.
