"I never met or spoke with the woman who wrote this review. I did speak with her husband on numerous occasions, as he hired us to resolve a complex house hillside settlement issue. During one of those conversations, I said that the house could also use an earthquake retrofit, though it could get expensive because there was inadequate crawl space for men to actually get under a portion of the house and that we would have to dig tunnels under the floor of the house to increase the room to work. He bluntly told me that he didn't have unlimited resources to spend, so I did not press the issue any further or mention it again. I believe it's possible he doesn't remember that, as we had many conversations and many issues to resolve on this project. When the potential buyers asked us to come out (specifically because we were the ones who had done the work), we agreed. They specifically asked me about how much it would be to perform an earthquake retrofit. I gave them this information, but made it very clear in writing that this was 100% voluntary work. I never, ever said or even implied that the sellers should have done it but didn't. It's considered a voluntary upgrade. The buyers and their agent at that time were not at all upset with the sellers, but were very upset with the seller's agent, who they said was extremely rude and hard to work with (never met him, either). Perhaps it was that agent who told the sellers that I said they should have done the work but didn't, and that made them angry at me; I don't know. But I never said any such thing.
