"We are unable to locate any emails/messages from anyone by this name. The property address listed is actually in an area that we do not service, so we would have advised the customer of that if they had called us to request an estimate."
"We will start by addressing the fact that this customer's fence was built per contract 4 months ago. It was built on a steep slope and built to the current conditions and surroundings at the time of installation. The customer did a walk-through of the job with us and signed a certificate of completion and satisfaction. The customer had called us 4 months after installation, after changing the surrounding landscape, removing a tree, removing plants, etc., which changed the ground and left gaps in some areas. This was not an issue cause by our company, but by the customer. We offered a solution (at below cost even), which the customer was not happy with. Our company never had a rude tone, and contrary to this customer's quote, our actual response to her refusing to pay for extra work which was not included in the installation or the contract, was : "We have offered you our help at below cost and if you would like to take it, we are happy to do it. But if you prefer not to take it, that is fine too." Unfortunately, this customer blamed us for an issue that was caused by her changing the landscape/surroundings around the fence, when the fence was built to accommodate them. We were happy to offer a solution to her problem, but the customer refused."
"In response to this one-sided story regarding myself and my company, I strongly feel it necessary to give the accurate account of what transpired with this job. During my initial meeting with this customer and her husband, I spent quite a bit of time coming up with the right fence design to compliment their backyard and esthetic performance based on the photos I showed them from my portfolio. From the very beginning, customer was concerned about price and reiterated that over half a dozen times. My initial suggestion was to do a 6' high fence, therefore keeping cost down as opposed to the 8' high fence that the customers insisted on wanting. At that time, I did mention that my vendor of 25 years had offered me a board that he had come across that was nice looking, good knot structure and kiln dried. Only downfall was that it was thinner than the standard board. I had used this board one other time recently, and was very happy with the quality. After weighing the pros and cons, this was the board chosen, and is what the contract included in pricing. When we started the job and the material was delivered and off loaded from the supply truck (approx 1000 boards), my foreman of 20 years called and informed me that although the material was from the same family of milling, it was not as high quality . I drove to the job site myself to inspect and demanded that the material be sent back to supplier and deliver the same quality as delivered on previous job. The supplier agreed and sent back second order that was still unacceptable to my company's standards. I sent it back again and spoke directly to the owner who informed me that that was all he could supply me with in the skinnier boards, and that he did have plenty of the normal thickness board but that the cost was substantially higher. I tried explaining this to the customers and they were not interested in discussing the thicker board option. So I explained to them that we can wait until supplier has more of the thinner board product and finish at that time, and that I could provide temporary fencing to keep the yard secure. This was also unacceptable. I informed them that since the thinner board was not up to standard, that there was not much else that I can do besides the option I gave. Ultimately, we provided the thicker board and furnished the job at no additional cost to the customer, although that board cost was substantially higher. After completion of the job, my entire company of employees expressed their reluctance to deal any further with the customer. When the customer contacted my company weeks after the job was completed, and wanted to hire me to seal the fence (which had not been previously paid for by customer), I declined. At that time, they threatened to write a bad review of my company if I did not come back and continue working for them. I am not in the blackmailing business. They got a much more expensive fence than they paid for and we worked late every day to get the job done. It was unfortunate and somewhat embarrassing that my lumber supplier put me through this, however I did everything in my power to rectify it and we made it right by the customer."
"Mark went out twice to this estimate (even though we typically do not service the area). The first time, no one was there nor bothered to call to let the company know. At a later date, this customer called back wanting to make another appointment for an estimate. Again, Mark went out, and after waiting, was met with rude and derogatory comments from this customer directed at himself. While Mark stayed professional, it was definitely not a wonderful meeting. It was an awkward and very uncomfortable meeting, in which he was offended. Mark's wife (who spoke with this customer and was also met with rude comments), asked this customer, in a professional manner, not to use derogatory names directed at her husband and to keep this as a professional business dealing. This customer was obviously not happy about having to do that. Although we cannot help the lack of social etiquette some possess, Finest Fence is a professional business, and all employed at Finest Fence are professionals."
