Description of Work
A Bid was out of the question. |"How can I give you a bid when I don't know how long it is going to take" No maximum or updates on bill offered along the way. I was just given a bill at the end for $3,000.00 + that was a 100% unusable. $3K = dust in the wind. Big lesson learned on this one ... BIG LESSON !!!

Service Provider Response

Per my signed contract dated July 21, 2014 my charges are hourly. Client agreed to this before she gave me the job. When she first telephoned me I explained that I could not give her an estimate over the phone because I had no project information at all. She did not ask for updates on the bill. My timesheet shows that I worked on the job from August 1 - 15, 2014. My work included 8 pages of structural calculations and one full size, 24 x 36 drawing, with 9 details and specifications. On August 14 and 15, I emailed her my billing information and asked for a meeting so she could review the finished drawing. I said the city also required some non-structural drawings; a plot plan and other information. As we discussed, I emailed her the names of 2 draftsmen and 1 architect that she might consider for non-structural drawings and advice. Later, by telephone she said that she was considering making the carport (which I had already engineered) much larger and connecting it to the house. Her original drawings (which I used) showed a four post, free standing, 11 foot square open carport. I told her that any changes would require revisions and additions to my work. My structural engineering would only be “unusable” if she changed the scope of the work after the fact. I have had no contact with her since September 1, 2014.
