AAMCO Transmissions

The water pump started spewing antifreeze 2 days prior to an important meeting that required a distant drive. I took it to AAMCO in Santa Clarita (Saugus). It is an older vehicle with high mileage. They took off the old pump which had a bad shaft seal. Upon removal they discovered that corrosion had eroded part of the sealing surface on the timing chain cover where the water pump mounts. It appeared minor to me but was going to prove to be a real problem. The owner mentioned that it could cause extra effort. He was right. They mounted the new pump with the stock gasket, pressure tested it and it leaked in that area. They then removed the pump and cleaned up the area. Remounted the pump with silicon sealant to no avail. Removed the pump and cleaned up the area. They then used Loctite's "The Right Stuff" and left the pump to cure overnight. Now, two weeks later and no leaks.
The price was a bit hard to swallow but only because it was an unplanned expense. I know these guys worked h****** the problem. The technicians and owner were very pleasant to work with and they spent a day and a half working on the vehicle even though they had plenty of other customers. I will use this shop again. They used higher quality parts and just kept trying until it was fixed. I would rather pay for better parts and labor than go to a cheap shop. I need reliability. They kept me up to date as the repair continued. The shop is reasonably comfortable for waiting and in a safe area.
I made it to the meeting as planned and didn't have to leave a trail of antifreeze. The engine is now running cooler as it should. I do appreciate the work they performed.

Our suburban suddenly began having transmission troubles. First the vehicle wouldn't go into reverse, then it would stall at intersections and not be able to pop back into drive. After calling AAA, we had them tow our vehicle to a local AAMCO dealership. Mark took a look at the vehicle and let us know the transmission would more than likely need to be replaced, but he would perform tests to see if he could avoid that. He did the tests and unfortunately it did need to be replaced. Mark gave us a variety of options including using a refurbished transmission and getting a new transmission. We told Mark we were on a very restricted budget and told him that we couldn't afford a new one. Mark went to great steps to help us secure a refurbished transmission, within our budget and within very short order. He knocked off some of his usual costs to ensure we weren't going to go over budget.
When the transmission was installed I drove the vehicle home, only to find out I couldn't put it into "park". I called Mark and let him know. He said come right back down and he would adjust it. He did. In short order one of his guys had replaced a cable that had been causing trouble and Mark verified the work and had me back on the road. I have had no problems since then.
Mark is very friendly, great to work with and extremely professional. He provides a good product and goes above and beyond when it comes to service. The same applies to all of the other workers/staff I encountered while there. I would HIGHLY recommend them.

I was very pleased with the transmission work, because they did an excellent job and they came in right on estimate. They were much cheaper than any of the other companies that we received estimates from in the area and they have a much better warranty. We have continued to go back to them for regular services, like oil changes and tire rotations. Everyone in the shop is very personable and willing to work around our schedule. They have always gotten the work done on time which is great. My family and I have been very happy with Aamco's service!
