The Groutsmith

In the last 19 years we have tried every kind of tile and grout cleaning company, claiming to be experts, with less luck than we ever had by doing the cleaning and scrubbing ourselves.  It was not until an honest tile man came by and tested a few spots on our tile floor and told me that I needed a grout expert and the top and only company they refer is The Groutsmith, based in San Marcos.  The Groutsmith came in and performed tests to determine the solution to clean our super-sealed dirty grout. Their team worked hard to restore my Italian tile floor throughout my entire beach condominium. It has not looked this good since it was installed! They are professional, courteous, very knowledgeable, and friendly and always kept us updated throughout the entire process.  They know what service means and you won’t be disappointed.

We were looking for someone to help us with a tiling job. It was a small job. I emailed Jan and she called back right away. She didn't actually do the kind of work we needed, but she gave us the name and number of a colleague that did, and this person was very professional. Jan was super friendly and helpful and seemed quite knowledgeable. I would certainly use her in the future.

The two people that did the work were outstanding!  They were so helpful in helping me decide grout color, they worked continually without breaks for around 5-6 hours.  Very pleasant, very professional, knew their service well.  I cannot praise them enough!!

tub surround "didn't meet her standards".Very well. They were on time and very efficient.  A crew of 3 were present and spent much of there time on the floor scrubbing and sealing each grout line.  The crew were very pleasant and very professional.  The tile looked beautiful when they finished, like new.  They cleaned up and everthing clean when they finished.  After they had finished to my satisfaction and after I had paid Jan she made a final inspection and in the bathroom she said that part of the bathtub surround "didn't meet her standards".  The next day she sent two men to redo that part of the tub.  I don't believe one can expect more integrity than that.  I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone.

I adored the person who came out to do the estimate.  He was very accurate but the person that came to do the service, I had some issues with.  Not that he didn’t do it but there were some issues.  We had to match the tiles, so he did do what we asked him to but I think he took a wrong judgment call.  He put in tiles that did not match and he never called to my attention that they did not match and I thought it was awful.  My husband was involved in buying the tiles and I am not sure why it happened but it shouldn’t have happened.  The people were so nice to speak to and the guy that did the estimate too.  I really liked them all but it didn’t go perfectly.  He did a good job of what he did but I think he should have urged us in the other direction.  It was a good price. 

I made the call and left a message for Jan. Call was returned within 1 day. We set up a time for her to come out and look at both baths. She gave me a quote and we set up date the following week for work to be performed. Both baths look great and I feel that I got more than I paid for. Also referred her to my realtor.

Very professional, on time, friendly and had great knowledge of the products and the work to be done...and he enjoyed doing his work...we will definitely  use his services again.  Its nice to meet people who have great pride in their work.

We needed a quick repair on some crumbling grout in our townhome bathroom and kitchen and a cracked tile filled in because our in-laws were coming to visit.  Yikes!!! The tile floors had been laid about a year and a half prior by another contractor and something wasn't right with the grout.  
Jan and Liano from "The Groutsmith" fit us in within a day and came by to see what they could do.  They were heaven sent!  They went to work right then (after getting my okay) and removed the crumbling grout, filled and color matched the grout and sealed the cracks in the tile so they just looked like veins in the pattern.  
Fantastic work and customer service.  It's so refreshing to find craftspeople that care about their work and their customers.  
Liano returned a week later to clean and seal the tile in our whole kitchen, bathroom and fireplace surround because we liked the work that had been done on the emergency repair.  Liano also resealed our kitchen sink which had been leaking.
My husband had wanted to do some of this work himself over time but he was so happy when he saw the finished work...he was glad that we found "The Groutsmith".   Charge is based on visual estimate as to what condition grout is in or what repairs are needed and type of product to be used.  Jan consulted with her grout specialist regarding our crumbling grout to come up with an option for the repair and it is holding strong.  Money well spent.

Jan and two workers arrived on time to begin the job. Everyone was professional, courteous, friendly and did a wonderful job. Even came back for a few touch-up spots on grout. Very pleased with the results and would highly recommend.

They were on time and got the job done in less time than they estimated. Our grout now looks great is the color that my wife wanted.
