We're delighted with the outcome. The new fireplace looks great. Penguin delivered on everything, as promised and they completed the job 1 day early. They were very easy to work with. I would definitely recommend Penguin, to others.

My husband dealt with him but I saw the gentleman who came in. He was very good and he knew what he was doing. I think it cost around $200 and something. He was on time. My husband also asked him a couple of questions and he told him what he needed to know.

It went very well. They gave us a very good quote and they stuck to it. They came on time and finished the work on time. It was a clean crew and we were very satisfied.

I wish the rest of the remodel had been as easy as the fireplace! They were great about contacting me to set appointments and reliable about showing up when they said they would. The work was done quickly and professionally. During the shopping process they were helpful and knowledgeable but never pushy the way another shop was. I would highly recommend Penguin Fireplaces!

We were looking for a gas fireplace insert to replace a very old wood fireplace. We checked out the website for Penguin Fireplaces, and then visited their showroom where they have a number of fireplaces set up so you can actually see what they look like and how they work. Gladys showed us around and talked generally about what is available and what to expect in the way of cost. She provided brochures for 3 different manufacturers that we were able to take home and ponder. We didn't feel pressured or overwhelmed. I emailed Gladys a couple of days later to request an in-home consultation. Ephrain came out to discuss options and answer questions. He brought a tablet with visuals that were really helpful as we looked at our doggy-old wood fireplace and tried to imagine a gas fireplace instead. I emailed our choices to Gladys and she provided a final estimate almost immediately. We sealed the deal by email. Installation was scheduled about 2 weeks out and everything went very smoothly, on schedule and at the agreed-upon price. It's July right now--way too hot to actually use our new gas fireplace--but we've tested it out and we're very happy at this point. We still need to have cabinets and a mantel built, but that'll be another project for another day.

I was needing to replace fireplace doors on 2 fireplaces. I paid them $100 down they gave me an estimate and their service was not was I expected it to be. After I paid $100 I went back to the store to check in with things and asked for my money back because they hadn't followed up with me or even acted like they cared about the job, so I decided to find someone else.

I've been using a pellet stove to heat my art studio for about 20 years and decided to change to gas when I recently remodeled the studio. I had planned on doing the removal of the hearth and rock wall but they made an offer that no one in there right mind would refuse. They did the removal quickly with very little disruption. I only needed them to run a short gas line, do the direct venting and set the fireplace. All the cabinet and finish work would be done by me. Since its now summer I really have no need for heat but was impressed with how beautiful and realistic the fire looks.

The workmen that came out to the house were phenomenal. They were clean, they knew their systems, they answered questions, and they were awesome to work with. The fellow who followed up in the showroom, that did not go well. And my husband had to end up dealing with the main office. And once the main office jumped on it everything went smoothly and they apologized profusely. So I don't know what it was, but their work was superior. In our family room we had an insert put in. I was kind of picky about the look in the house. They were able to cut it down and it just looked really classic. I can't tell how much we've enjoyed it since we've had it put in. In our living room we had gas logs. It's not used that much; it's more for effect over the holiday time. And again the workmen were just clean as a whistle, with little booties. They were very considerate. They were just fantastic. I would highly recommend them. Other than the little blip with the sales person who didn't quite have the information, but that was sorted out. Their prices were comparable and we were pleased because our insert was one of the latest models that were out.

I am impressed with the guys that are here and I was impressed with the owner of the company. He is very low key and seems to be very honest. They were very prompt in getting back to me. They are very knowledgeable. They have just been here for 2 or 3 hours and they intend to finish the job in 2 or 3 days.

We called Penguin and they immediately scheduled a convenient appointment. Efraim arrived promptly, investigated the problem and found the wire to the fan had burned through because it ran too close to the hot elements. He repaired the wire, did needed maintenance on the fireplace and thoroughly cleaned the glass door. The fireplace works perfectly again. We were very pleased with their prompt courteous service and would use them again.

Selection was easy and the installation estimate and actual work were done as planned. Took about 6 hours from the polite and very efficient crew. We chose high-end units and we're very happy with them - they heat the whole house very efficiently (though we have yet to see the full impact on our gas bills!) and it's likely we will use them a lot more than we actually planned! We might have found a cheaper source or a lower cost option somewhere else but we're very happy with this choice of units and of installer. Great job by the Penguins!

I was referred to them by a friend, and they were very efficient and knowledgable. They drove forty minutes to come to my house, and they were very accommodating. They had reasonable prices, and they even did extra work for me. They did excellent work, and I would recommend them.

Penguin fireplaces was highly professional in helping me install the fireplace (Napoleon LHD-45) even though I purchased the unit through an online vendor. Allan and Effrian were extremely professional and punctual in getting all the details worked out with my project manager at my new home construction site. They guided us through the install and the follow up was great. Excellent service! They are very competitive for installation services. I have a very long vent to my roof and hence a higher piping cost. Highly recommended.

The service was outstanding. They did all the work in a single day. It was a large team. They were very knowledgeable about the various options. I had a very long discussion with them about that. I am very happy with the service and the results. I have recommended them to several of my friends.

Installation went well. They were punctual and courteous except for one day when they came many hours late (due to traffic and getting tied up at another job, but they did not call me to inform me so I was left hanging). All the men seemed to work like beavers to get the job done. No slacker there! Excellent dry wall worker--Enrique. I am pleased with the end result and feel confident that this company will stand behind their installation and fireplace product. They are good guys.

Have been doing improvements to the house with one of them being the fireplace. Once we had the fireplace refaced the next step was to convert the wood burning fireplace to a gas burning insert. Began researching companies for quotes and found this process very difficult and frustrating. Vendors were either non responsive or if they did come out to assess the work we never received a follow-up quote from them. Most of the vendors could provide the insert but referred the gas plumbing to a third party recommendation. Had issues with these vendors responsiveness too. Went to Penguin show room floor in San Jose and was assisted by Gladys who was very helpful and knowledgeable about the products. Scheduled with her for someone to provide an estimate. The service tech came out as scheduled and was on time and made his assessment. The service tech (Efrain) very good about answering questions and made suggestions. The quote was delivered by e-mail within 24 to 48 hours as was promised. The great part about this was the work, both insert purchase, installation, as well as, the gas piping work was all performed by Penguin and was included as 1 total quote. The quote was acceptable and the work was scheduled. We had asked if they could perform the work in 1 day for both gas piping and fireplace insert installation and they accommodated this request. It was amazing how fast they worked (@ 4 men) completed the job with in 5- 6 hours. I also discovered that the original service tech (Efrain) who came out to perform the quote was also the owner of the company. Efrain was also part of the crew that came out on the day of installation and performed and over saw the work. Efrain and his crew were top notch and were careful in working inside/outside the house while performing the installation. All in all I am very pleased with the work that was performed and highly recommend Penguin Fireplace as a company to do business with.

We initially went into their showroom to see the types of inserts they had available and to get more information about options, process, installation requirements, etc. They made two trips - the first to install the gas and electric lines to the fireplace, then came back after our marble was laid to install the insert. We had some intermittent trouble with the fireplace after the installation so had to call them back 4 times to figure out what was wrong. On the 4th return visit, Efrain called the manufacturer while he was at the house and figured out if was an issue with the venting (a recent change to install process), and it has worked consistently since that last visit. They were great about coming back out until the issue was resolved so, though frustrating that it wasn't working, they did resolve the issue and were professional and responsive throughout. The fireplace is beautiful, easy, and we can now have a fire even if it is a spare-the-air day!

The technicians were on time, polite, introduced themselves, and behaved professionally the entire time. They were careful and worked cleanly--no dirt or smudges anywhere. They described what they planned to do, how they would work, and showed me the replaced part. They also described the cleaning solution they used on the glass cover of the fireplace unit and explained why it was the best product for the job. The entire service procedure was quick, clean, and effective--and got my fireplace insert operating again. I plan to use them as a regular seasonal service.
