True to his word, he arrived in 45 minutes. Upon encountering " the machine" he went to work in a very methodical, logical, and obviously well practiced process. Within 20 minutes he emerged from its belly, held up a very small thing and announced "this is the problem". He repaired it, reassembled the unit, plugged it in, and voila ..... the lights came on, the control buttons beckoned to be touched and, once again, the Kenmore Elite Dishwasher came to life to fulfill its destiny.
I found Mr. Pham to be extremely professional, knowledgeable, punctual, courteous and, by comparison, very affordable.
From my dishpan hands to my wallet, hats off to you Mr. Pham.
I am definitely keeping his card.
I would definitely call LP Appliances again for work on our washers, driers, or kitchen appliances.
He examined my very old oven and immediately knew the model year, which gave me confidence that he really knows his stuff. He troubleshot the problem and, within one minute, knew exactly what was going on. He informed me that the necessary spare parts, especially the most crucial one, had been discontinued many years ago. He suggested two options: He could repair the problem at considerable expense (many hundreds of dollars) to me, or he could leave it alone if I could live with the problem until I replace the oven at my discretion. The second option was fine, since this is a double stacked oven and I've long since stopped using the upper oven (the problematic one) and have been using the lower oven (which functions just tine). Mr. Pham's honesty was a breath of fresh air.
As icing on the cake, he was very friendly and put me at ease from the moment he entered my home. Also, his $45 service fee is well below the $80 or $85 charged by most of his highly rated competitors.
For all of the above reasons, I highly recommend LP Appliance and Mr. Pham for your appliance repair needs.
"She called me on Friday night, she told me on telephone she needs someone come to remove her old GE disw and installation a another second hand disw, I said I don't do that - maybe the second hand disw no good, she said don't worry just come as soon as I can to remove the old GE disw because something "leak" water under disw. I get there around 7 o'clock at night I step in her property I see old GE disw has been halfway out and I get flashlight to look I saw it leak a under her sink it "messy" The valve it stuck can't turn it off. I tell her right away it's not my job you need to call plumber to solve this problem. She said to late to call plumber anyway she get go out party tonight she will call she will call plumber tomorrow - Saturday noon time she call me, do I know any plumber. I said, I don't know - 5 hours later she call me, she claim on me I tell her I not plumber that what happen."
We had many conversations over the phone and he informed me if this was the problem that he did not do this work, Which means a plumber would have been needed.
But as I have the dryer pulled from the wall and I did get heat this validated my logic. And again in many phone conversations we soon learned that it was still having issues w No Heat (or (Partial Low Heat) . So after more phone conversations we decided to go ahead and have him come out.
Now I am somewhat technical / engineering / mechanical minded person ( I'm retired but don't want to be) I had removed the top of the dryer and was vacuuming up the lint inside when he arrived! So he and I shook hands ( very friendly) and did some testing and discussed my issue. Now I had though about my original premiss and had dismissed it and knew it was something else.
We ran some tests and he removed the exhaust flex tube to see into the exhaust area for any buildup of lint and their was none.
Of course w his 30 years of experience he had a good idea as to what the problem was. And then after informing me the price to which I had the Angie's coupon and also asked for a retired person discount on top he said it would be 140.00 - which was 40 for parts and 100 for labor. I said fine.( maybe I should have haggled a bit more)!
Now It used to be that you when you needed to service the applianced you did it from the rear of these units. Not any more the gas valve was in the front. So after he showed me how to remove the control pannel he then removed the front and set that asside - door is attached. We then cleaned up the area around this and he used him MultiMeter to test the coils on the gas valve. In this situation the coils were turning off prematurely as they have breaks in the coil wire, Which would shut off gas.
So he replaced the Gas Valve Coils to resolve the problem - note that the Coils come in a set and should be replaced as a pair. One is a three terminal and the other is a two terminal - don't mix them up. So after reassembly of the front we tested it again and the Dryer had more heat as a result of this fix. He then closed it up w my help and let me push it back into place to which I said fine.
Over all his fix was spot on and quiet fast not more that an hour w testing and the like. So his labor rate was almost fair but the cost for the parts is about $22.00 from Appliance Parts here in San Jose whereas he charged me $40.00, this I found out is a bit much for mark up of the parts. SO the next time this happens ( in 5 years ) then I have the knowledge and the power to fix this myself. If I can remember it as I have that other lesser know rare tropical disease know as CRS ( Can't Remember Stuff)
So after this issue and two other problem w heat that are caused by the dryers low static pressure of the dryer blower motors which leave lint etc in the exhaust duct which in my case runs under the house and you need to clean the entire 4 inch duct using a Dryer duct cleaning service (two time in 5 years @ avg cost of $120) . I have decided to add a 2nd lint trap and a additional Dryer vent booster vent motor to push the air out of the vent due to the long duct run under the house and the 3 plus 90 degree turns that it takes. I only say this as my old commercial Electric Dryer made in USA by Whirlpool didn't need this assistance - it blew the lint out the exhaust vent at the side of the house w a vengeance. Oh well that the price for outsourcing!
Over all was impressed with LP Appliance - his degree of service did not need any factory manual to look to for assistance. It was all in his head and overall I would us him again but maybe haggle a bit more on the parts costs.
Called LP Thursday after lunch. He came out an hour or so later and fixed it. Done, done and done.

PS: told that Samsung appliances, though they have nice features are not reliable.
Seems resonable. The drier has had two heating problems in the past two years. I've had 10 year old Kenmore stuff that never had a problem other than getting old.
