I went on a weekday and only had to wait for one other vehicle before me.
There is a nice waiting room with a TV airing Asian shows. The tech was very friendly and thorough. He is strictly business and not as fun to jabber with as the previous tech who I believe is/was the owner.
My vehicle passed inspection but the report I received was not as detailed as the one's I used to get that showed the number limits and what my vehicles numbers were.
Other tips:
I have been to this smog certification test center many times over the last several years because he's fast and allows $10 discount coupons you can print off the internet or show on your phone.
The place is a little bit hard to find so go slow if you have never been there. The entrance driveway is very steep. Low profile vehicles - exercise caution!
It is normally very busy. If you go on the weekend be prepared for a long wait. They close at 5:30 pm on the dot. So if you get there after 5pm and the technician doesn't think he can service your vehicle in time to close he will tell you to come back.
Don't go there with expectations that they will certify anything questionable. They will not.

The vendor is very fast. My only complaint is that I believe I was ripped off. I wasn't going to post a review because I am afraid of retaliation. But I decided it would hopefully prevent others from going through the same thing.
The shop was open for viewing by the customers in the waiting room. As my vehicle was being inspected I could see the technician revving the engine. Then the owner came into the waiting room, closed the door, and began speaking Vietnamese to the only other customer waiting (2 other cars had already been processed before reaching me on the list).
I could no longer see what was going on. Sure enough, a few minutes later the technician comes in very happy (almost giddy) and profusely smiling and says "come in here and let me show you some things". He had marked some vacuum lines with white out and said they were cracked. Only then did I realize that he had failed the vehicle on this alone (the bill showed that the actual tailpipe emissions had all passed).
To make a long story short - I believe they have to occasionally fail vehicles so their credentials appear more legitimate in the system and avoid an audit. This is what the technician at a STAR facility told me. He even told me that there was absolutely nothing wrong with one of the sensors I had been told to replace. I am not a regular customer there, so I wish I had gone to my regular smog check vendor. I only went here because I heard they were so fast. Oh well.

I was very dissatisfied with another smog test center located near my home when I remembered that I belong to Angie's list. I used Angie's list to find Discount Smog Center located several miles from my home but it was worth the drive. The technician was courteous and professional and I will definitely drive the extra miles next time I need a smog test.

Great service. $40 out the door

I was a walk-in (drive-in ;-) customer. I went on a Tuesday afternoon. There was one person there ahead of me. I had to wait about 5 minutes. They drove my car into the bay, did the check. Passed. 10 minutes and i was done. No muss, no fuss. It was fast and reasonably priced. I've paid nearly twice this amount ($50) in the past. It is kind of a run-down looking place with a very spartan waiting room, but the service is great and fast.
