 + -1 moreThe inspector was great. He walked me and my husband through all of the problems with our furnace and why it wasn't working, what parts would be needed, and his recommendations. He gave an estimate for two types of furnaces and the pros and cons of both. We had two other inspectors come out and ended up going with AAA because they could get us the furnace we needed quickly, within the week. But, I was happy it was from AAA because the service guy was fantastic. Another team came out to install the furnace. They were clean, pleasant and explained the instillation to my husband. The previous installers had made a lot of mistakes, which is why we were having to purchase a new furnace after 10 years. Overall our experience with AAA was great. We are going to hire them to clean our ducts in December.

 + -1 moreI called them they were prompt, professional and found me an appointment with only a few days notice. They came provided free inspection service on our furnace and cleaned the air ducts. Ive been told by many friends that alot of companies try to sell other things to you but these guys turned up, were great and friendly, did the job and we have had no problems, its nice to feel the air vents are cleaned and we dont smell the burning smell anymore. The only thing is i would have liked to see what actually came out but theres no way of them showing you although maybe thats a good thing.

Description of Work: They replaced all of our vents, and took care of a asbestos issue. They put in a new vent for a bathroom fan, and also installed the fan for me.

 + 0 moreAll of the other HVAC contractors wnated to charge me a minimum charge ($80 - $265) to just come out and diagnos the problem and find the leak. AAA agreed to no diagnostic charge and charged me about what I would have been charged by using another company (except that I could have refused to have the work done and not charged anything). The service guy was great, showed up on time, spent about 2 hours onsite, and the unit is working great now. I'm considering having a new unit put in so I've asked them to come back out and provide a quote because the unit is 18 years old and not very efficient. It's also a freon based unit which is being phased out in the next two years.
Description of Work: Searched and found a freon leak in an 18 year old AC unit. Found the leak quickly and recharged the AC with 6 lbs. of freon. Tested afterward.

 + -1 moreFor 2-3 years we had noticed that our house did not cool down adequately on hot days. After a recent hot spell, we decided to call an HVAC company to check it out. After finding AAA on Angies List, we made an appointment. On the day of the appointment, Monty arrived on time. He checked out the system, and told us that the refrigerant was low, and that this was probably the cause of our cooling problem. This made sense, and we asked him to service the unit. Within an hour, the refrigerant was recharged. From then on, we have noticed a big improvement in the AC, and it appears our problem is fixed.
Description of Work: Checked and serviced our central air conditioner.

 + -1 moreThey are good. It's a good unit. The system seems to work pretty well, but they are always after you to come and service the unit. We only have it done once a year and when they call we have to straighten them out and let them know they were just here. I don't think there was good communication between the people making the calls and the people that do the work. They call too often, which is somewhat bothersome to have them calling so often. They are good people and do good work. We have had the unit now for 10-15 years and it is still working well. They are very proactive and anxious to take care of their customers. They are very punctual.
Description of Work: I hired AAA Furnace and Air Conditioner to install a furnace and air conditioner for us. They come and service it on a regular basis.

 + -1 moreInspected and serviced two separate systems, each of which had a furnace, air conditioning unit, and electrostatic air filter. Identified and corrected a malfunction with one electrostatic air filter's plates which required no extra parts or extensive service. We were entirely satisfied with the professionalism, appropriateness, knowledge and work ethic of this company's workers.
Description of Work: The technicians called to confirm arrival time for the "second opinion" visit arranged the day before, following another company's service call and estimate which amounted to many thousands of dollars.. On arrival, Phil and Robert went directly to the "downstairs" furnace/air conditioner/electronic air filter and correctly diagnosed and immediately corrected the sparking sound we had heard for three months and which had not been diagnosed or corrected the preceding day by another company's technician. They performed a complete inspection of that system and then proceeded to inspect a second (upstairs) system consisting of a furnace, air conditioner and electrostatic air filter. The inspection demonstrated two functioning safe systems which required no major work. They then examined the outside air conditioning compressor units, one of which had experienced fin deterioration secondary to weather and a dog which had urinated on the unit the past. They found that the units functioned satisfactorily although one unit required a new relay ,which they installed during their service call. and several pounds of freon were required for each unit. The work appeared to have been done efficiently and correctly and with integrity. No inappropriate charges were incurred or unnecessary work was recommended. Our immediate savings as the result of this second opinion amounted to many thousands of dollars.

The technician came by and checked it out and said it was okay, so no service was needed. He gave me an estimate to replace the heater should I need to in the near future. I have used AAA since I moved into my house and have always found them to be very responsive and professional.

 + -1 moreEverything worked out fine except I had to have three reinspections. Each inspector found different issues. I just wish that there was only one inspections that caught all the issues. Dealing with the inspectors was just a little troubling for me. Overall, I would still hire them though.

 + -1 moreI checked out a couple of other a/c heating companies which offered to install a new high efficiency a/c with matching high efficiency furnace that would qualify for government rebates. I was not sure about their execution.
Description of Work: Installed a new airconditioner to match a 5 year old high efficiency furnace for a two story house. Installed new duct work for the ground floor. Reinstalled the furnace to accommodate the a/c condenser. The technicians were quite knowledgeable and did the work on time with high professionalism. I wanted the a/c unit to be an efficient one eligible for government rebate but was disappointed that it was not and didn't quite match the furnace effiency. I will have to wait and see how the a/c unit performs in summer.

 + -1 moreThey did a really good job. They were prompt and did it very quickly. They put in my original air conditioner; so I decided to do ducting. I got a couple of estimates. I liked their estimate and I knew they have done work before; so I stuck with them. They brought in the extra crew, so they can finish the job in one day. They cleaned very well. The employees who came out were great and friendly. They put down all kinds of materials to protect the floor. They were moving up and down, and they were just fine. They were very courteous. They tried to be as least interruptible. They were in and out in one day. They did what they said they would do. They were here when they said they were going to here. The quality of work was good. They were efficient in what they did.

 + -1 moreThey were wonderful. There has been no work required on the new furnace. They were recommended by my financial adviser who spoke very highly of them. They were prompt and they completed the job in the time that they quoted. Their price was fair because I had prices from two other places that I decided not to use. They were very good. They were very accommodating and the new furnace has made a very big difference. They also put in all new ducts. The heating registers used to be high up near the ceiling. So, they moved them down to the floor in the rooms and it has made a huge difference. My house is a lot more comfortable now than it had been. We had an addition put on years ago. Apparently, the person who put in the new addition didn?t know what he was doing. So, it was never comfortable in that addition area which was basically a large master bedroom suite. It was much more comfortable this winter and my heating bill was also significantly cheaper. I had gotten these other estimates and I really didn?t trust the people. Jim is the guy who came out. He was here within three days after I called. It was amazing. He was just the nicest guy and he was wonderful. The price charged by him wasn?t as much as the other estimates. It was very fair and I was very pleased. AAA Furnace & Air Conditioning Co was terrific. I would definitely use their services in the future too.

I have always considered them very reliable and we have had very few problems with the furnace. The few times we have used them over the years they have gotten here on time. I will continue to call them again. A few times over the years they replaced the igniter in the furnace and have done a good job. The price was quite reasonable.

 + -1 moreTerribly. After calling a handyman, it appears putting in a new filter is not very difficult. However, if the service man had no intentions on returning, I wish he would have just told me how to do it and where to buy one. That would have been much better than being left hanging and expecting him to return.
Description of Work: They came to fix our heater. They ended up having to service it instead. The service man did not have our size furnace filter. He took the dirty one out, left it in our hallway and said he would return with a new one within the next few days. He did not return. After 2 days I called the office, but no one called me back. I called again the next day. No return call. We ran our furnace without a filter for several days until I finally called a handy man to fix it. I still have not received a call.

 + 0 moreByron came in to give us an estimate and he was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. He also took the time to go over the various rebates we could apply for (e.g. PG&E, Federal rebate, etc). He was able to get us on their schedule within a few days of the estimate meeting. The day the work took place, the three workmen showed up on time and were extremely professional throughout the day. They did an excellent job with the installation and cleaned their work area thoroughly. A couple of days after the installation, I realized that I needed their help in filling out the California rebate. I sent Byron an email and within a few days received all of the forms filled out and ready to go.
Description of Work: AAA Furnace replaced our furnace and A/C unit and also cleaned the air ducts in our house. The old A/C unit was on the roof and required a crane, we had previously received quotes from other companies that were 50% higher to get it replaced.

 + -1 moreWe had the unit installed under a 10 year guarantee and the technician came and I don?t think he did much. We spent $100 on that service. They came and were supposed to check our air-conditioner and furnace and I know he did something and just said everything is okay and left. I would not recommend them to others and would have to think twice before I do. The installation they did years ago was real good, but this last 1.5 years I had to tell them to put in new lines because they put a different type of gas. They put the furnace right against the wall and it was against our empty storage bedroom. To me just looking back that was a no, no because when the furnace goes on or for the air-conditioner, it made a loud noise. We are not too happy with them. The last time we used them they had people that did not have much experience. Their professionalism was good, but the recent time was not and the installers were lousy. It seemed like the picked people off the street and we would probably not use them again. The owner came out and personally had the installation corrected and in fact had some extra work done on my house. AAA gave me excellent rework where i would now give aaa an a rating and thanks to the owner for his personal attention.

 + -1 moreAAA quote to do work was about 10% below the next lowest bid plus the placement of the outlet registers was better than proposed by other contractors. Work started on a Monday morning and completed on Wednesday afternoon. The furnace/AC and ducting was installed in the attic of the house and all work was professional and neat. AAA got a Santa Clara building permit for the work, for which I had to schedule the inspection to get the work approved. For the first inspection I had to schedule the inspector with Santa Clara building dept. and the tenants The inspector said that he needed to see a pressure test on the new gas line from the gas meter to the furnace and he said the gas line in the garage needed more adequate pipe supports. I then had to schedule AAA to come to the house to improve the gas line pipe supports and to run the nitrogen pressure test for the city inspector. I would have preferred to have the city inspection of the work on the last afternoon that the crew was still at the house, especially since the house is a rental and I had to coordinate with AAA, city, and tennant and drive 15 miles to watch inspection wasting 4 hours of my time for each inspection.
