The first date for the work was cancelled due to illness. The 4 man crew showed up close to the appointment time and was working within 15 minutes of arrival. The main trimmer worked up in the tree and guided the street level trimmer. The other 2 members kept all the cuttings in a neat pile off the sidewalk in the street. The main trimmer climbed down several times during the course of the work to check the tree from street level and see that I was satisfied with the progress. All in all they were quite professional about their work and clearly worked as a team. The owners came back with a truck to haul away the cuttings and all work was completed within 2 hours. What a difference in the appearance of the tree. I recommend Timberwood highly and will use them again.

They arrived at 8:30 AM when the guy said they would be there at 8 AM. Not a big deal. They walked through my neighbor's yards because the yard was very hard to get to. That's when I told them that they should walk through the garage because I was uncomfortable with them walking on my neighbors' property...more of a miscommunication than anything else. They started trimming at about 9:15AM. The guy doing the cutting was amazing, because he was able to direct the falling branches away from the busy road. What did fall in the roadway was removed immediately. The last trimming was completed by 4 PM, then I helped them drag everything to the road by 5:30 PM. It was a very long day, but overall it was a great job, especially considering the price. Had I paid what the other contractors had bid I would have expected more people and faster service and everything done perfectly. The original bid was $900 and he added $150 for the extra branches that I added to the pile and the trimming of the Acacia which was quite involved but not included in the original bid. Very fair and well done!

I give Timberwood Tree service an and quot;Aand quot; rating. From the first appointment to the completion of the job, the company was professional and definitely recommendable. The crew removed all five trees with care and precision. We definitely recommend Sean and his crew to others.

Recently I had a situation where my fully mature sidewalk tree was lifting and damaging the surrounding sidewalk. Because of this, I'd received a citation from the City of San Francisco and was given 30 days to complete mandatory repairs or face having a lien placed on my house - so time was of the essence. I wanted an arborist that could trim both the tree's roots and canopy with out any detrimental consequences. I also needed someone who would be willing to work within a tight time frame with a concrete contractor. The concrete contractor recommended Timberwood Trees Service so I included them in the five arborists that I had come out to evaluate the job. I was impressed with Shawn's knowledge, listening skills and comprehension of the end results that I visualized. A date was set for the work to be done and after the concrete was removed, Shawn was there at the appointed time. He did a wonderful job of root and canopy trimming and all debris was immediately removed. I'd never had my tree professionally trimmed before and hadn't realized what a difference it makes. I feel that the tree benefited from it's "hair cut" as it is now in a much healthier state and not as vulnerable to branch breakage due to excess weight. Thanks and kudos to Shawn, who I highly recommend and plan to use in the future. He is professional, easy to work with and his prices are reasonable, especially for the quality of his work.

They did a really good job. They cared about the trees. They knew that the particular trees that I had should only be trimmed during a certain time of year. They told us we should wait until December or January when they are dormant. So, they were very knowledgeable.

Shawn and his crew arrived on time. We discussed the work and agreed on the details of the job. Shawn got his crew started and left. I saw that the foreman crossed the street quite a few times to view the tree to make sure that tree had good shape. They completed the job and cleaned up very well. Shawn returned to approve the work and help clean up. Overall I was very happy with the work and will use Timberwood again.

They called me back soon after I left a message that I wanted an estimate. They updated me on the exact date soon after I gave them the go ahead. They scheduled on a day with street cleaning enforcement so there wouldn't be cars underneath the project. They were prompt and thorough. The tree was beautiful.

Quite well. Sean dropped off his crew and came in to check on them every hour to two. They did their job professionally and cleaned up after they were done.

The owner brought a crew of 3 and dropped them off. Since the owner had deserted them, I had to instruct the crew on what to do myself. I know nothing about tree trimming, nor do I speak fluent Spanish to communicate with them. They didn't even have any equipment to complete the project; I had to provide everything. This was extremely unprofessional. I'm now worried I'm going to lose my tree that was trimmed too low. This is not a reflection of the crew. They were doing the job to the best of their abilities. They did clean up after themselves and haul away the debris.
Response from Timberwood Tree Service
"I want to say how very saddened I am to read your report about our services. Your backyard was completely covered with weeds, that had not been dealt with in quite some time. I wish that I could have had a picture before your back yard clean up and then one after to allow everyone to see how fantastic it looked. The clean up completely filled our large truck. The tree trimming was actually 2 trees that had been previously arched together so it could be walked under, so trimming consisted of the top, sides and underneath. As far as equipment, being a tree service we do have our own equipment, not sure why they would have used yours. The crew we work with have been loyal employees to us for 8 plus years, and they do speak and understand english, they are also Certified tree climbers. Being the owners of the company we met with you twice before the job, once me and then Shawn and I together, going over everything and discussing your expectations for the job. Shawn does that on every job. We thought everything looked perfect. We inspected the job at its completion, and you were very happy, now I am hearing from you that you were not. You stated that the arched trees looked slightly uneven when you looked from your upper window; that can be rectified. I spoke with you yesterday and told you that Shawn (ISA Certified Arborist) would come out next week to get another look, to try and figure out what you were unhappy with, and especially look at your arched trees. We work very hard at our business and always go over and above board to be professional and make our customers satisfied with our work. Look forward to seeing you next week and hopefully making you a very satisfied customer. Sincerely, Ramona Ream Timberwood Tree Service"

Ramona was very courteous and husband Shawn came out to do the estimate. After we agreed and signed the proposal, it took a while (1 month) to schedule the work as they are very busy. It took all morning to do the work and then the cleanup. Then they moved on to our neighbors hedge, which is for another story. We were very pleased with the results, as were our neighbors.

After about 5 days, the Princess plant did not even go through shock. It is still filled with beautiful purple flowers.

We had a couple of overgrown trees in the front of our house that needed thinning, and we had a very large (40+ foot) eucalyptus tree in the backyard that needed to be removed. We called Timberwood (Shawn and Ramona) and they promptly scheduled an estimate. Shawn came out and was very friendly and professional. Their estimate was priced very reasonably. I expressed some concerns to Shawn due to the plants and deck in our backyard that were adjacent to the eucalyptus tree but Shawn assured me that they wouldn't get damaged as they would lower the tree down in pieces with ropes and had experience working in tight situations. We called up Ramona and she scheduled an appointment for the removal with Shawn. We couldn't get them out as early as we hoped because Shawn was booked up already and they wanted to come out on a Wednesday when street cleaning would mean less cars on the street in front of the house. When the day came to remove the tree, Shawn came with a crew of workers and they set about removing the tree. We found it odd that Shawn himself was not involved in the actual removal, as we only saw his crew working on the tree removal all afternoon. We also noticed that his crew was not being very careful as they literally dropped large tree branches on our deck with a loud "thud" throughout the afternoon. We also observed the workers dragging instead of carrying the large branches across the 40' length of our redwood walkway on the side of the house. When finished, they weren't able to grind the stump out or trim the trees in the front of the house and had to reschedule for another appointment. They stated that they were trying to be careful not to damage the adjacent plants surrounding the eucalyptus tree and ended up taking longer than expected. It turns out that they had to come out on two more occasions: one to trim the trees in front and another to grind out the stump. The trimming of the front of the house was executed perfectly and our trees now are shaped and trimmed. The eucalyptus tree was removed but unfortunately there was damage to the nearby plants and the house. Paint on the house along the run exiting the side of the yard was stripped off and the paint on the door was also scratched up. A light fixture on the side of the house was also damaged when the tree branches were carried out of the yard. I called Shawn and Ramona and expressed our disappointment with the damages and they were very apologetic. They came out that day to observe themselves and offered to make it right. We settled on taking $150 out of the final cost to cover the paint, new plants, and time to fix everything. They even graciously offered to re-paint the door and re-plant new plants themselves. They handled the situation very professionally and we were happy with the final outcome. We really wanted to rate them higher but given the damages we feel that a grade of 'B' accurately reflects our experience.

They came promptly to give me estimates and I knew their schedule was booked 4 weeks out. After I found out that my schedule would conflict with the date I set up (6 weeks after the estimated date), I asked them that whether they do my job earlier or not. They told me that they were all booked and they would see what they could do. They called me one week later; their other client got emergency and they could start my job right away. They came to my house and started with a crew of 4. All of them looked very professional. They worked fast and they worked very well as a team. Each one of them knew exactly which position he was working in. One climbed up this 30+ feet tree, one held the rope that tied to the saw, one held the rope to hold on the soon-to-be cut away limb and the other one would take care the cut off limb. The Tree was 5 feet away from my house. They were very careful, the loose limbs touched my house only twice during the whole process. They accidentally cut my sprinkler pipe during the root grinding process. No problem, they called the owner, Shawn (not 100% sure the name). Shawn came with the repair piece and plumbing super glue... They fixed it up. Timberwood grind up the root and clean everything. Very clean. My husband came home and he could not tell there was yard/tree work being done that day except the big tree magically disappeared. My friend came two weeks later and they could not figure where the tree original location was. We were very happy with them and I am planning to hire them back for my other tree work this summer.

It went great. They had three people working for about 6-7 hours. The team working was hard working and skilled. They did a terrific job and were a pleasure to deal with. We had a couple other companies offer to do the same work, one at a slightly higher price, and the other at a much higher price. Neither of those other companies we considered were as kind with us as Timberwood. Timberwood rocks.

Great! A prompt response to give me an estimate; then an excellent job. They cleaned up completely and it was a very good price.

They were great! I had many tree companies come look at the job, and they were the only ones who said they could actually get the grinder through the house. It was tight, but they had a bunch of strong guys carrying it on its side down the hall and around the tight corner, but it got through with no damage! Of course, the actually job went fine, they ground up the stump, and cleaned up afterwards!
