Jay's Small Moves team showed up exactly on time (bright and early at 8am on a Saturday) with three guys.  All three were extremely professional, nice, and were constantly making sure things were going where they were supposed to.
The load and unload were both uneventful and professional.  They didn't complain at all when moving our (VERY) heavy sleeper sofa.  We had moved much of our small personal items already, so it was mostly a furniture move.  Things got wrapped nicely in blankets, our big TV was carefully wrapped and transported, and everything made it over without a ding.
My only small criticism would be that their website makes no mention of the $75 materials/transport fee on top of the hourly fee.  It was clearly disclosed upfront on the phone, but they should probably put it on the web too.
All in all, very satisfied.  I'd use them again in a heartbeat.

It went very well. There were 3 men and some of our pieces were very heavy even for 3 but they did not complain. They had to work around a curving stair cases and several doors.
I am not giving them a total A rating because I have worked with a company off and on and they do almost perfect work. I realize I may not be quite fair because they were taking one or two items in or out for me while Jay was removing a whole flat. I felt

These guys were fantastic!  They actually arrived early, were very polite and professional and were SO careful with this very old furniture.  Best moving experience I have ever had, highly recommend this company.

Excellent! Due to the BART strike and bridge traffiic, Alex and Adrian arrived late but they called and let us know. When they arrived they moved furniture in our house from upstairs to downstairs. They then went to another house, gathered furniture and brought it back to us. The furniture was bulky office furniture and they moved it seamlessly. They set everything up, moved some additional furniture in our house, were very gracious and professional. Not one scratch or dent in occurred in anything.
Make sure that you call the company and clarify costs, all details are not listed on their web site. Having said that, they do have the best overall cost amongst several other movers that I contacted. We would absolutely use them again and have already recommended them to friends.

Joe, Jose C. and Athos were amazing! The furniture would not fit down the staircase so they carried these huge, heavy pieces all the way up my front steps, across my driveway and down the sloped side of my house. They were determined to accomplish the goal of moving the pieces to the location I needed them in and did so with care. I would 100% use them again and would definitely recommend them!

They were prompt and did a good job. Nothing was broken and I had no problems with the service. The price was the cheapest compared to other quotes we received.

We were making a move from California to Arizona.  I rented a moving truck and packing blankets and was going to drive the truck myself, but needed help to load.  Arranged with Jay's to provide needed labor.  After initial contact, a company representative came to house to survey job.  Made recommendations for us to prepare for move and gave estimate of costs for their services and for additional supplies, if any were needed. On scheduled day, 2 man crew, Kevin and Josh, arrived as scheduled and went right to work.  They wrapped all furniture, pictures, mirrors, tv's, etc in moving blankets to protect them during move.  They laid out all of the furniture and our prepacked boxes and proceeded to load the truck.  Truck was well loaded so that all contents were secured, with strapping they provided, to prevent movement during transit.  Took about 4 1/4 hours to complete loading.  Total charges were in line with estimate that I was given.  When unloading on arrival, found that load had remained well secured with no noted damage.
Very Satisfied with their service, would use them again, and  would highly recommend their services.

Three movers showed up on time and were polite and professional.   We were very pleased with the results.  All furniture and boxes were handled carefully and nothing was damanged.  We would definitely use them again.

The movers showed up on time and did a great job protecting our antiques and other fragile items. They went the extra step in helping to move statuary and plants in the yard.

The estimating part was the most surprising because three different guys were sent to see the house to determine the scope of the job. I felt like they were not skilled enough to estimate so more people came - baffling, actually. We were then directed to Warren, the Boxman, for our boxes and were instructed to order many more than we needed. True to his word, however, Jay promised that he would buy the remaining boxes if we didn't use them, and that is what happened. On the recommendation of friends who had recently moved, I purchased the most expensive insurance and confirmed that if things were damaged, repair or replacement would not be a hassle.  Jay said that was true.
On packing day a wonderful crew of four guys arrived on time and began packing up the house.  They started all over the house at once (rather than all working in one room til it was finished) and that made for some chaos because occasionally they needed me for questions and I had to run around from floor to floor to respond).  Since I had a big boot on my foot because of an injury, this was hard but I understood the necessity of it.  They wrapped everything in clean paper and packed things up much better than I would have been able to do.  The only things they didn't wrap were pieces from my office that were acrylic (magazine file boxes, file holders, desk organizers) and not surprisingly, those were the only things that were damaged.  I think they thought that since they were made of a type of plastic, they wouldn't break. 
Anyway, the next day a big truck arrives on time with four different guys (why they didn't send the same ones who had done the packing was beyond me - it would have been less complicated) and the day began.  They worked quickly, efficiently, and were friendly and helpful the entire day.  Even though the estimators had been at the house three times and we ordered lots of boxes, the truck they sent was not big enough and midway Jay called to tell me another truck was on its way and I would have to pay for the extra gas and one more man.  I agreed but was a little annoyed at this because they should have known from the beginning what size truck they would need. We got to the house and again, although I had specifically told them to bring lots of big floor protectors for all the hardwood in the new house, they didn't bring enough and so I asked them to take off their shoes each time - a big pain for them.  We had a little damage to a couple of hardwood boards, but nothing major.
When it came time for the men to leave, they confirmed that all had been delivered and was in place and they left - later than they probably expected, and they were definitely tired.  They had done a wonderful job and I was pleased things had gone so smoothly.  I did give Jay my feed back and he was MORE than responsive and glad to receive it. I made a claim for the few broken items and received a check quickly.  I was fortunate that Jay sent me two crews of friendly, responsible young men who were good at their jobs. For me, the true test of a company is how they respond when there's a problem and I will say that Jay is an awesome young man with a clear sense of what is right and he runs the company with that in mind. What a pleasure to work with them - especially when you read about all the horrible things that can (and often do) happen when people move. No wonder it is such a successful company and growing quickly!

I'm very overdue in writing this review. Many months ago I needed a great deal of furniture moved within my house. I couldn't do it myself so I looked for someone to help. I thought it might be difficult to get a professional mover to do such a small job but Jay's was very willing. They arrived on time and did a superb job. The men were very professional, courteous and helpful. I highly recommend them.

Don't let the name fool you. Our move wasn't small. The crew of three showed up right on time. They didn't stop moving from the time they arrived at 8am until they left at 5:30 and they had to move things up two flights of stairs. They were also very nice guys to work with. When I called to get a quote, at the end of the call when asked how I heard of them and said Angie's List, he said we would get 5% off the total price, which we did. We had a horrible experience with movers last year but this experience made moving not so bad.

The work was first class.  They showed up on time, were careful with the things they moved, were extremely hardworking and efficient.  I would not hesitate to use them again.

The stuff was dusty and poorly packed but they handled everything with care and consideration.  Our staging people had broken some items and they pointed it out before they touched it.  They were prepared with wrap and extra bins and supplies to help us with some items that were just tossed in the POD without packing.  I was impressed by their professionalism and consideration.  I only hope our next move is not too large for them, because I would definiately call on them again.

Service was excellent. Joshua and his helper were organized, efficient and very professional. In our situation, where we did an in-house move of furniture from one half of the house to the other (while the other half of furnishings were in storage), they did an exceptionally good job of packing everythin tightly into the smallest space (so we could refinish the largest area of flooring). Joshua is very helpful about finding the most cost-effective way for his client to make a move. He provides recycled boxes as much as possible to reduce cost. Especially in the case of unusual moving situations such as ours, I would suggest talking with Joshua early on in the planning process, as he is very creative about cost-effective logistics.

It was perfect.  I couldn't have asked for better service.  They did exactly what I wanted and when I wanted.  The two gentlemen that came were highly professional and accomdating.  I would recommend them to anyone. 

Who doesn't hate moving--the effort, the worry, time, etc.; however the crew from Jay's Small Moves made it go much better than I anticipated. 
It was easy to reach them, explain the job, and schedule from a number of days they offered.
I received a confirming call the night before; although, on the day-of there was some misinformation on the precise window in which I was to expect them--it is 2 hours, not 1 as I believe I was informed (twice).  HOWEVER, the person in the office that day was very apologetic and was in direct communication with the team scheduled.  He gave me very good information, AND the crew lead called me to fully inform me of their status and when to expect them, arriving precisely as they had indicated.  And, the 2-person crew helps explain the rating.  The crew, Joe & Victor B., was exemplary!  Extremely friendly and exceedingly professional--exactly the type of crew you want to move your belongings!!  VERY much the A team!
I thought I knew how to pack furniture, but Joe & Victor showed an expertise that I never knew existed.  They wrapped the items so securely, it was absolutely clear that nothing would harm or scratch the furniture. [In fact, it was a bit like that science experiment where you had to wrap an egg to drop off the roof of the school.  I kind of imagined they could have dropped the furniture off the roof without harming it.]  If I was impressed with how they wrapped and prepared the furniture, I was amazed at how they packed it in the truck.  There was NO WAY that furniture was going to shift or move during the drive.  (I know there are no guarantees, but I was surprised how securely they were able to pack & fasten the items.)
I set off to the destination just before them, and they arrived not long after I did--despite they heavy traffic caused by some accidents on 101.
When they got there, they were very good natured, still courteous, and very enthusiastic though it was the end of afternoon.
They carefully unpacked everything and were willing to put the items where I asked.  All items were undamaged, no scratches...EXCELLENT job.  Would certainly hire the company again (and would ask for Joe & Victor B.)...Thanks Jay's!!

the guys showed up right on time,(a little early which is great). Super friendly and professional. I had everything ready, all we had to do was to load,drive and unload. I helped a little but let them do the heavy stuff. They did not slack or take extra time or try to "pad" their time. I was very happy. I thought it might take a max of 3 hours but it took just a shade over 2. They were great all around and I will definitely use them again and would recommend them to anyone. 

It is very hard to find good movers who are honest and do not try to rip you off, so Angie's list provided a great service and Jays did a great job.

I will not mention anyone else by name , but 3 or 4 companies I submitted a request for a bid on Angie's list never even responded. That is bad business and they better watch out because Jay's is going to take all of your business.

I was very satisfied with the service. The first visit he and one other worker moved my vintage Okeefe & Mertitt  stove (which was the heaviest appliance) the frige, and washer and dryer out onto the deck so the rooms were clear. I made sure he understood that I was hiring him to make sure that once the floors were refinished I wanted to make sure the appliances got back with no damage to the floors. He recommended that I by some felt pads that would go under the appliances and help with protecting the floors. When the floors were done I called and we set up a day for him to return (I was hoping for a few days earlier, but they were busy.) When they returned they had blankets to cover the refinished floors and got the appliances back in. When we were putting the dryer in and hooking up the vent and gas line, we realized that the gas line was leaking. I was able to run off to home depot and get a new one and they helped get it all hooked up. My experience with them was very good.

Great Experience!!  The team from Jay's Small Moves was professional from start to finish.  The quote process and moving terms were clearly and completely described up front.   The team arrived early, and ready to go.   They moved quickly and worked well as a team.   They were careful with my things, everything arrived to the new location with no damage.   They were strong and able, and even handled my heaviest item (a tempur-pedic Ergo adjustable base and mattress) with no issues.  Since they had to contend with  navigating stairs at both ends of the move, that is saying something!  The guys were polite, presentable and communicated well.   No cussing, or creaping looking movers here.   All in all I would highly recommend using Jay's small moves for any of your future moves.
