I found Delancey St. Movers on Angie's list. I liked the fact that they train people as well as employ them; it's a nonprofit with very competitive prices. Their estimate was professional and a bit more than I was actually charged. They were punctual and careful. One plate broke, but that was pretty minor.

Delancy has very strict procedures. Two people came to estimate and were very thorough in doing a complete inventory. Their estimate was just under $1050. I was able to get a move date within a week of calling. Three men came and they once again inventoried everything noting the state of the house and furniture. They also got to the new house and noted the state of everything (this is all done to leave no question as to what damage could be ascribed as their fault). They wrapped everything in plastic and pads so that not one thing was scratched. They were exceedingly careful not to damage to wood floors in the new house. They did it under $100 of the estimate but I gave them a $50 donation. These were very hard working guys and I was quite pleased.

They showed up on time to complete the estimate and were very thorough and complete. The estimate was very reasonable. We scheduled the move, but then had to change the date due to our closing being delayed. When I tried to reschedule they were booked up for over a month. I had to use someone else.

I booked them about 2 weeks in advance. They arrived right on time and worked tirelessly, taking only a short break for lunch. They gave me a "will not exceed" price in the a.m., and came in way under by the end of the job. Their packing job was quite good, except for the wardrobe boxes which were worn out and had broken or collapsed racks in them; the hanging clothes arrived at the bottom of the boxes. They were notably neat, efficient, and good at what they do. They did an amazing job of getting a large sofa through a small, twisty hallway. They take cash only, which is kind of inconvenient. However, I had plenty of time to pop out to the bank and get cash based on their estimate. Also, they did not tell me in advance that there are certain materials (cleaning fluids, etc.) that they will not move. So I ended up having to repack a box or two, also a slight inconvenience. Nevertheless my overall impression was that they did a great job and were well worth the money.

We re sorry to say it, but Delancey Street s admirable devotion to their mission ended up leaving us high and dry. Impressed with their high ratings on Angie s, we got a thorough walk through and estimate from Delancey Street. We were facing a tight deadline to move and thought we could count on them to pack us up on one day and move us on the next. Unfortunately, our elderly, senile landlord, the reason for our move, decided on packing day to accost the lead mover and give him directions about how to move our belongings while verbally assaulting us. The police were summoned, and instructed the landlord at great length not to interfere further with our contractors. Nevertheless, the movers understandably notified their headquarters, who told them to vacate the premises and not to return. We asked the line supervisor at hq to contact the police officers for reassurance or to let us talk to the manager in charge. Neither occurred. He said their contract with us was not binding, and everyone vanished. After repeated calls, we did reach a manager around 1 pm who was unresponsive and unapologetic. We were left to begin negotiating from scratch for a massive 2-day pack and move to occur all on the following day, at a much higher cost in dollars and distress. Hopefully our circumstances are almost unique, but as landlord disputes are increasingly common in this property-mad area, any clients anticipating similar problems should be aware of our story.

The team did a great job. We were moving back into a home that already had furniture, etc., and the guys were great in helping us move things around before unloading the truck with all the things from our other home. They were very careful, considerate and professional. The communication was excellent and the team leader, Mike, did a great job of watching over the crew as well as moving things himself. He was a good mentor/teacher to the more inexperienced guys and they all listened and followed directions very carefully. When we tried to tip them at the end of the day, Mike gathered all the team around him so they could watch him carefully document the tip (which goes back to Delancy Street). When we asked him why they didn't get to keep the tip, we were told, by several of the guys, that in fact they did get benefit of the tip by the very existence of Delancy Street. One of the guys said without Delancy we wouldn't have this opportunity and we are grateful. Although I hope NEVER to move again! I would definitely recommend Delancy to anyone moving.

After reading great reviews elsewhere, I booked them for a small move -- I just needed people to move all the furniture and bulky items from a 1 BR apartment in San Mateo to San Francisco. 3 men showed up, were very professional, wrapped everything in pads and plastic (and glass in cardboard), and the move was over in about 4 hours. They're not allowed to accept anything (other than maybe water) and any "tips" are officially noted as donations to the Delancey St Foundation. Great service, I'd use them again.

I did my homework and checked not only Angie's List, but also the Better Business Bureau, since I've been burned on a move before. This company was very well rated. I decided to go with the other company, however, because they give a guaranteed not-to-exceed estimate, whereas Delancey Street did not do this.

Delancey Street was great, arrived 20 minutes early and started work, started the official clock at the appointed time, provided a not to exceed quote of $910 up front. They packed the furniture up (tables, chairs, bed) very well with protective pads. They hand packed about 20 paintings with glass frames. They moved a washer and dryer. They moved a large wine cooler. When we arrived, they positioned and unwrapped everything. No apparent damage to either house or to any furniture. At the end they totaled everything up and it was 1 hour more than the not-to-exceed estimate, but they only charged me the $910. Great movers, kind, considerate, intelligent. I'd use them again.

Very well. They showed up and gave me an estimate to do the packing and move. They showed up on schedule and packed. They moved me the next day. They were courteous and pleasant. I was a little disappointed with the packing job, but only realized it when I unpacked. I basically moved around the corner and they packed accordingly. Nothing significant broke, but that was lucky. They were much less expensive than other movers/packers. They provided all materials at a reasonable price. They came in slightly under budget.

This company is fantastic! The Better Business Bureau and California PUC give Delancey Street extremely high ratings, and I can see why. Their service was punctual and professional. The workers were careful and competent. There were no "hidden costs": the price quoted was the price charged. They were incredibly responsive to us as we worked our way out of a messy situation (an unscrupulous mover had absconded with all our son's belongings). Our experience with Delancey Street was excellent in every way.

It went very well! They arrived early, but not too early. Everyone was professional and courteous and really hustled. It's a training school, as well, so we witnessed the two more experienced guys teaching and instructing on moving particularly tough pieces of furniture. They were done very quickly and with no problems! My only asterisk is that I would've liked to have received a confirmation call, as promised, the day before the move. At the end of that day, I had to call to reconfirm. It all worked out fine, but communication on the front end could be improved a bit.

The 3 movers did a great job moving mostly large furniture items such as beds, dressers, armoires, televisions, refrigerators, tables. They did a great job. Arrived early and completed the job as quoted. Set up bed frames in new home and were very careful with our furniture. We'll use them again in the future.

The men worked fast and steady and were very professional. The estimate given at the beginning was high as it was unclear what the rest of the move entailed. Stuff was handled carefully, and everything was clear once we met over the stuff and paperwork. The only difficulty is cash or certified check only.

Absolutely amazing! They sent over men dressed in business suits to give us our estimate quote. On the day of the move, they sent 4 men to move our VERY over stuffed 2 bedroom condo with piano to a 3 bed house. They showed up exactly as they said they would and were absolutely fantastic! They moved all of our antique furniture with out breaking a single thing!! They were extremely careful and wrapped/padded ALL of our furniture. Not only were they careful, but they were also lightning fast! The load took longer than expected because of the attention to detail with prepping the furniture. But the unload only took a couple hours. Overall the move went over the initial quote, but not a penny more than what was quoted was charged. I highly recommend Delancey Street Moving & Trucking.

The movers were very professional and courteous from the time we got the estimate. The people who did the estimate drove by the new house to make sure there would be no problems getting their truck onto the street. They arrived early the morning of the move, got the truck ready, then explained everything to us. They were very up-front about any additional charges (shrink wrap, parking ticket if they got one since they had to double park on our street) and they started moving promptly at the scheduled start time. There were four movers, and they worked quickly and efficiently. They seemed very organized. The estimate we got was for 8.5 hours, but the move was finished in 5.5! Thus, we ended up paying about 33% less than we had anticipated. They don't accept credit cards, which is a little inconvenient, but the quality of the move more than makes up for it. After having really unpleasant experiences with past movers, Delancey Street was positively refreshing! Highly recommended.

They were great! They were very concerned about being careful in our new home (avoiding scratches on the floors, newly painted walls and doors, etc.), and about putting things wherever we requested and setting them up. They worked quickly but not hastily, and were pleasant to work with. We packed most things ourselves, but they did some kitchen packing at the apartment. The bill was $230 less than the estimate (nearly 25% less.) Some of the furniture was heavy, awkward and cumbersome, but they were great with it all. We were very pleased.
