Our 18 year old heater got a crack in the heater box.  We were told that we needed to replace the whole unit and that it would be a good idea to replace the air conditioner too.  The estimates for just the heat ranged from $1500 to $8,000 and $5,000 to $14,000 for the whole system.  We had 4 companies come out to give us estimates.  Toro looked at our system and asked if we had checked the warranty.  We had, but when I called they said it was out of warranty.  He told me that he was sure that the fire box had a 20 year warranty so he called.  They told him the same thing but he pushed them to look it up, and sure enough it was still under warranty.  They then said that they didn't have the unit and that I would have to pay delivery fees and that it would take 2 weeks.  It was really cold, so he asked them to look around the LA area.  They found one, not too far, so I suggest that I would go get it, which I did.  They were scheduled to come out the next day to insall it when our power went out for 5 days.  Toro checked in every day to see if we had power and when we finnally got it back on, came out at 6 pm, after a full day of work, to fix my heater. 
Toro was the only company to check the warranty, the only one to suggest fixing the heater.  In the weeks before Christmas, to have to come up with $5,000 to $14,000 was overwelming.   This company was professional, clean, quick and wonderful to deal with.  I will have them back when we do decide to replace the whole system, hopefully not when it is so cold!!

He is very thorough, very thoughtful and very responsive. He is someone who can be trusted and who does the job right. He is not excessive in charging his fees. He is fairly priced when compared to others. I like that he is punctual, careful and thoughtful of things around. There are workers that don’t care; they just do their jobs and sometimes break things and stuff like that but he is very thoughtful in that respect. He does a very good job. When we had a problem with the unit he came back and didn’t charge us because he took it as an installation problem. He is very thoughtful; very few people are like that nowadays. He is definitely reliable. The quality of his work, his professionalism, punctuality and responsiveness is excellent. I would use him again in the future.

Joe was punctual and on-time.  Joe provided a thorough analysis, and detailed quote, and performed the necessary work as promised.  He repaired the furnace in one day.  He made sure the work was done right and provided me a good explanation as to what went wrong.  Joe located the parts and picked up the parts the same day.  I was very happy with the work he performed and would definitely recommend him to others.

Joe is very detailed.  He provided good recommendations of brands of A/C equipment.  He designed a sheet metal platform for my A/C condenser to sit on my roof.  He resolved a leakage problem with one of my ducting that was within the scope of work.  His workmanship is very good. 

Joe is always precise and explains everything to you in detail so you know exactly what was wrong and what he fixed. He was very patient and answered all of my questions. He showed both parts and where the failure was on the defective motor. Luckily Joe had the part in his van so everything ran smoothly. In and out in 2.5 hours. Wonderful service. Exemplary.

Joe added freon, but stopped when he thought that he was adding so much that there must be a leak somewhere. He spent a lot of time looking for the leak, but couldn't locate it. He did find that there were holes in the overflow pan that drained into the overflow pipe, usually indicating there was a blockage of sign in the regular condensation drain. He said that the unit really needed to be replaced (it is 20 years old), but that he might be able to patch the rusted holes that might help the unit last a little longer and protect my ceiling from water damage. He spent a lot of time trying to fix the holes and get the old unit back together. I really appreciated all his effort to try to help me. There were a few unexpected things that happened but he handled it all very professionally, quickly and with as good a quality as possible. When he left, everything was working and clean and he only charged me for the service call and the freon. I'll definitely be contacting him when the my AC finally goes out completely

Turns out something made the circuit breaker trip and the unit wasn't getting any power. 

I usually expect service people to try to "upsell" some service that I may or may not need.

Not these guys. Checked the freon level and it was fine. Checked the amps going through the unit and that was fine. Checked the temp settings and everything was fine. The tech gave the unit a clean bill of health and educated me on basic maintenance procedures and what to look out for in case something like this happened again.

Very honest, friendly and I would definitely recommend this company to anyone I know.

My heater stopped working over the weekend.  No heat.  It appeared to not be igniting.  I called Toro Heating and Air on Monday morning, and made an appointment for Wednesday at 10:00 am.  Date and time was my choice.  I appreciated being given an actual appointment time, rather than a 2-4 hour window.  On Wednesday, I received a call right at 10:00 am from their office letting me know the technician was running about 10 minutes behind.  Less than 10 minutes later, Jose arrived, but booties on to protect the floors, and went to work diagnosing the heater.  He quickly determined the control module was not allowing the burners to ignite.  He was able to locate a replacement part ( it's a older heater).  He would go get the part, I had some errands to run, so we agreed to meet back up at 3:00 pm the same day for him to install the module.  Exactly at 3:00 pm, Jose was back with the part.  Installation was quick, and clean, and I had heat again.  This was probably the best service experience I have ever had.  Their willingness to set an actual appointment time, the ability to diagnose, and repair an older heater, and all with the bare minimum of inconvenience was appreciated.  I highly recommed Toro Heating and Air.

I was astounded at the service and honesty I received.

A technician from Toro came out to investigate the installation and help finish the job. He explained that the furnace was sitting too low, and the condenser pipes would eventually leak. He was very thorough with his inspection and everything he explained to me. Overall, Toro was prompt, helpful, and professional. I?m very grateful for their service. They got me out of a pretty bad bind, and I highly recommend them to others.

Friendly, professional workers that get the job done on time. The only thing though is that I was not informed in advance of the additional cost for 3rd party inspection. The service guys told me that it's a new policy of the city that only took effect a month or so ago.

First, he called to say that he might be 20 min late! (Sears had not shown up previously for a five hour window) He found me even though he had wrong address and very quickly and professionally inspected and made minor fixes to my system. I was very satisfied with his work and will certainly use him again.

The technician arrived on schedule. He inspected the system thoroughly and was professional. He gave me a detailed description of what he was doing and what could possibly be wrong. He determined that I needed a new circuit board and he happened to have one. He never told me how much the circuit board was going to cost. The price for the circuit board ended up being $371.42, which was a shock to me. I looked for similar circuit boards on line and saw that the cost was about $200. I was therefore somewhat disappointed about the price. The technician found the problem and fixed it, but I would not use this service again because I feel I was overcharged for the circuit board.

My tenant called on a Thursday night to report that the air conditioning unit was tripping the breaker. I called Toro Friday morning at 8:30 and they arrived promptly as promised at 11AM the same day. I was impressed that they gave my tenant an exact appointment time, instead of a long, inconvenient window. Everyone I spoke with at Toro, from the person taking my initial problem to the technician who called from on-site, was courteous, caring and professional. The problem was found quickly (they called 39 minutes after arriving and had already been testing the A/C for 10 minutes) and an estimate was given over the phone. I had had the air conditioning serviced by another company a year prior (before I started using Angie's List). That technician told me the part in question would probably fail soon and recommended a replacement at $350+. Toro replaced the same part, including labor, for under $130. They made the whole process very easy for me as a landlord by handling everything over the phone and sending the bill to my home. Based on this experience, I would use Toro again without hesitation.

Service went well. I would recommend this company to anyone in need of service or repair. The agent was very professional, very neat and did more than was required. He was also very considerate of my concerns. For example: We do not wear shoes in the house and he came prepared with a set of booties. Very detailed and did the overall service in a timely manner.

Joe was prompt, curtious and presentable and went about his inspection very professionally and explained everything in a very succinct manner. I was very pleased for total explination of the operation and service needs of all my units. I would recommend Toro Heating and Air highly and would use this company anytime I need service.

Overall,the job was very good installed. They did a very good job inspecting my home before giving me any recommendations. Joe explained the conditions of the house and recommended me the best equipment available without paying a fortune. He installed my AC in two business days and up to this day I have zero complaints...I guess I'm just another of his satisfied customers.
