"Thank you, [Member Name Removed]! It was and is always a pleasure to work with you! Harry & The Crew at Torrey Pines"
I called Harry for a number of reasons:
1. To see if WE could be billed for any changes our neighbors made to their plan to accommodate us, rather than billing the neighbors, since they were kind enough to even consider a change to their plans.
2. To let them know they were welcome to come to our back yard so they could see first hand how the patio cover impacted us, so that this could be considered since our neighbors are opening to redesigning for lesser impact to us.
3. To get general ideas and an estimate on landscaping needs we will have within the next 90 days, since we are at the point where we are looking to hire a landscaper.
My helpful intentions were met rather rudely, and I was advised from Harry he would not speak to us or "get involved in a neighbor dispute". I explained to him there is not a neighbor dispute, but that out of mutual respect our neighbor was requesting the look at options to modify their plan so that it has a lesser impact on our property. I would think a true professional would come up with positive solutions to make this work for both neighbors, however after speaking with him I seriously doubt he is capable of this.
To me, bad manners equates with bad business practices, and this is a company you should run from! There are too many wonderful landscapers that also understand the importance of neighborhood harmony and promote this rather than attempt to jeopardize it.
If we end up with a more positive outcome, I'll be sure to update this review, but I have a horrible first impression of this company.
It took 6 weeks to locate the proper registered owner of the vehicle, Harry Thompson of Torrey Pines Landscape Co., and when we did get in contact he asked me to settle without insurances being involved and offered me a small sum for my inconvenience. Harry informed me he was not the driver of the truck, but would be taking responsibility because the vehicle belongs to his company. Twice I asked to speak to the individual responsible for the hit & run, but was told no. Ideally for me, I was looking for an apology and an explanation from the actual person responsible, not money.
I did not accept his offer because in all honestly, it was offensive. I had been through quite a bit emotionally and financially due to the inconsiderate person who hit my vehicle and thought it was okay to flee.
Instead of taking into consideration my "true convenience", it seemed to me Harry's main concerns were: avoiding a premium increase on his fleet of 20 trucks and hiding the identity of the responsible party. Therefore, the insurance and police are now handling the hit & run incident.
Trust in a company and their employees doesn't solely come from the professional services they provide, but also their integrity off the job and within their community.
The guy, who comes, has done his degree in horticulture. He knows the plants. He knows what they need and how to fertilize them. They know what they are doing. They are not cheap. They have done a really good job by bringing a lot of plants to life. They have taken care of a lot of things like irrigation etc. They are one stop shop for landscaping and gardening. The owner and his wife are landscape architect which is very nice. They have done really nice job for me. They are a kind of high end in terms of maintenance but you might find someone just looking for that. You get what you pay for. Their pricing is at higher end. I would use them in the future.
