Swede Chimney Sweep & Dryer Vent Cleaning

First of all, my call was returned in a timely manner.  The gal was courteous, efficient and friendly.  On the day of my service, the workman showed up on time and went immediately to work.  An hour and a half later, the work was done.  He explained what he had done and what problems there still were with one of the fireplaces.  He then provided me with information as to how to correct them.

The workman was very nice, clean and professional.  I would definitely use this company again.

It took awhile to get an appointment, as I called during the "busy" season, but they did a good job.

I would recommend them very highly.  They are very dependable and very nice.  I really felt like they provided an excellent service.  It's a two-man company.  The guy did an excellent job.  He was here for a good amount of time to do the work.  I felt very confident about them and they had done it very well.  They were very prompt on their arriving.  The construction in my neighborhood made it a little difficult to get to the house because the roads were closed.  He called me and let me know that he was going to be 10 minutes late.  They were very conscientious and good about cleaning up.  When the guy was putting in the gas log, he was here on December 13th and was doing the job.  When he opened up the gas logs, he discovered that one of the logs was damaged, which he had ordered from another company.  He said he would quickly get a replacement for this and made an appointment with me on Saturday to get the job done with a new log.  I was very pleased with their professionalism.  Other people have looked at it and said that they liked it.

Rick performed a thorough and professional inspection of our (new to us) fireplace and chimney.  He was punctual, knowledgable, and fair priced for what I would consider to be the best job that could have been done.  I will certainly call on Swede Chimney Sweep again and again for regular maintenance and cleaning every season.  Thanks, Rick!

They did a very good job. They inspected our chimney and told us that our chimney was not up-to-date and we need to have a company look at it. They gave us a contact and a business card to contact them for them to do the work.

I purchased older home a few months ago, I wanted to have the chimney inspected before I used it.  When I phoned to make an appointment everything was explained up front:  how they do things and their prices.  First they do an inspection, which would cost $79.00 then if the chimney needed to be swept they would do that and the cost would be $159.00 (they give discounts to Angie?s list members).

After I ask some questions and showed Rick things I was concerned with, he brought in his equipment and went right to work.  He did a thorough job, cleaned the fireplace and swept the chimney.   

Rick listened to my concerns and answered all my questions.  He went above and beyond what I expected.  I had a chimney top that been removed from the chimney before I moved into the house; it was missing some wing nuts.  He put the missing nuts on and installed the chimney top without charging me anything extra.  Rick told me my fireplace is missing an ash dump plate, he told me where I could purchase one and also told me alternate ways to cover the hole which would be inexpensive.  I was also advised on where I could buy firewood and what woods are the best to burn.  My chimney's ash cleanout door is rusted and fallen off so I have been covering the hold with blocks.  I removed the blocks to show Rick and ask him about the door.  Before leaving, Rick put the blocks back to cover the hole; I didn't expect that.  I was really impressed with all the little things he did that he didn?t have to do.   

I usually find I have to clean up after someone has been doing work in my house but not with Rick, he didn?t leave any sign of ash or dirt.

Rick checked out all 3 fireplaces.  The one wood burning fireplace's chimney needed cleaning.  He cleaned it very well and showed what needed to be done and any other tips and tricks.  Patiently answered any questions I had.  He also checked out the gas fireplaces and did a gas leak test.  Overall, very satisfied and would recommend them highly.

I called to have my gas log system removed, and return my fireplace to a regular wood burning fireplace again.  Terri returned my call that same night.  She was extremely knowledgeable about fireplaces.  After asking me a few questions, she told me the pros/cons of gas log vs natural log systems to make sure I had enough info to make my decision.  I decided to go ahead and revert to natural wood fireplace, so we set up the appt to 1) remove the gas log system; 2) install a gas log lighter pipe to help start the wood logs; 3) inspect my chimney (hadn't been inspected/swept for years) and clean if needed.  Terri gave me a quote, with the appt a few weeks away (this is their busy season).  A few days later, she called to say they had a cancellation and if I was available the next day.  So Rick came out the next day.  He was very professional and courteous, explaining what he was doing.  He did clean my chimney.  He was meticulous about keeping my carpets covered as he worked.  He did an excellent job.  He did recommend some masonry repairs and showed me where the cracks were, saying that he could do it at a later time, or I could have someone else come in to do it.  

My final bill came in a little under the original estimate, because I was able to accommodate an earlier appt than planned.

I spoke with Rick's wife Terri to schedule an appointment, and her friendly, pleasant demeanor immediately made a positive impression.  Rick arrived on time and went straight to work.  We were pleased with the results.  There was not a speck of ash anywhere, and he even vacuumed our dusty fireplace screen!  When he was finished, he took the time to explain what he had done and what his inspection found.  Although he noted some issues that might present problems in the future, he didn't pressure us in any way.  We look forward to using Rick for our future chimney maintenance.

He was awesome. He gave us some advice on what we could do to rebuild the hot box of the fireplace and advice on new grates. He gave us the name of somebody to do that work. He did quite a bit of stuff so my husband didn't blind an eye at the price. He came the next day.

Multiple reschedules due to holiday season, cold weather (high demand), rain (weather cancellation), and my travel schedule. But all communications were prompt and professional. Inspection went smooth and luckily my chimney had no problems.

The office called me a day before our appointment to confirm, and the technician arrived exactly on time. He was very pleasant, nice, and did a good job. The technician ended up installing a new damper and chimney cap to prevent wind from blowing into my home. His clean up was excellent, and I was satisfied with the work.

My call was returned within a couple hours. Terri was very helpful and knowledgeable, especially since our house was built in 1926. She told us how to check that our chimney has a modern metal liner before sending a sweep out to clean it (I guess you can't clean an old chimney unless it has a liner..). He came, swept, did a little caulking and left. It was fast and easy. We will use them again and recommend them.

It went very well. We feel confident that our chimney is in good shape and have the info we need to make a decision about what type of burning we will do going forward. If we decide to install fire logs in the future we will rehire Terry and Rick to do so.

It was a very positive experience; they did a great job. They were very clean, reasonable in price, and took their time. The installer was very nice and the fireplaces turned out beautifully.

Ms. Pocock provided much help and information on the initial phone contact. She scheduled an appointment for Mr. Pocock in the following week. He arrived promptly as scheduled, and made a thorough inspection of the firebox while describing the service limitations of this kind of fireplace. At the end of the inspection he pronounced the fireplace to be fit for service and then proceeded to do a thorough cleaning of both it and the stack above it. He was especially careful to protect the surrounding room area against dislodged dirt and dust, even though I advised him that the room was going to undergo complete renovation shortly. Finally he went to the roof and inspected the top end of the stack, again pronouncing everything in good order. He also provided much useful information about recommended accessories for this kind of fireplace, and about the best kinds of wood to burn. He indicated that we would receive a post card reminder from Swede Sweep for another inspection/cleaning in about two years but probably wouldn't require service at that time. This was my first experience with a professional, certified chimney sweep and it went very well, even though he did not arrive in the customary top hat!

We purchased a 35 year old home that needed a lot of work. They are very knowledgeable and professional. When cleaning the chimney which was filthy, they protected all interior areas. I would highly recommend this company and will use them again.

The experience went very well and he was able to give us good advice. Our fireplace's design is flawed and he was really good at offering suggestions to fix this.

It didn?t cost us anything since the person who came out determined that we didn?t need any work on the chimney as it was fine. Everything was very thorough. I would definitely use their services in the future too.
