Roy L Schwartz & Son Tree Service

He was going to charge us $5,000 but we actually paid $1,400 because of the service he did. He was supposed to take a 20 foot high hedge down to about 8-12 feet. He didn't listen to us and he took it down to about 6 1/2 feet. He had a cherry picker he was using and it was sunk two feet into my grass when I came home. He had driven the 2800 pound cherry picker all over our lovely grass. We rent our gardens out for weddings and this was the main area that they use. He had access from other areas and he tried to tell my husband that I told him he could do it. It was a mess because there were tracks in both areas. At that point we told him to stop and we paid him $1,200. We should not have paid him anything but we kind of felt sorry for him because he looked like a deer in the headlights. He brought back a small patch load of dirt to try to fix where the machine had sunk. It was an 18x20 foot area where the cherry picker sunk. He was supposed to come back and try to fix the divots but he never came back. He did lousy work even if he didn't sink the cherry picker. He was not the cheapest. He did come on time originally.

Did not use service due to being an outlier on cost.

I called Roy for an estimate. He came promptly and left a written estimate and followed up. Easy to get by telephone. Personally did the job. Estimate to completion took less than 1 week.

Roy responded immediately to our request for an estimate and was very flexible in scheduling the work quickly to meet a deadline we had for a pending construction project. He and his son were very knowledgeable and professional. They completed the work in less than 3 hours, removed all material, and left our yard in immaculate condition. One of our neighbors was so impressed with their work that she asked them for an estimate. We have several trees remaining in our yard and will have them back to do annual pruning and other maintenance after the holidays. We would highly recommend Roy and his son to anyone who needs tree maintenance or removal.

I chose Roy L Schwartz and Son Tree Service from Angieslist because they looked like the best choice because of all the positive reports I saw. I wanted this company to top four very large Eucalyptus trees and consult with me on what to do about a couple of other trees as well. I called this company on a Monday and Roy Schwartz, the father, called me back shortly afterward on the same day. We agreed to meet the following day and he was on time. He looked at the situation and he understood what I wanted and then verified it with me. Together we agreed on what was to be done. Roy then told me how much it would cost. I agreed with his price. He said he could do the job on Wednesday arriving at 8 AM (two days after our first meeting). I agreed. I met Roy, his son, and their crew at 8 sharp on Wednesday morning. The property was on a steep slope and there was a danger of the limbs falling into the neighbor's yard beneath. These professionals were able to avoid having that happen. They made it look easy. I was able to watch almost the entire operation from the upstairs of the house next door and I was amazed. It was like a ballet dance with the father and his son way up on two separate booms carving away the tree limbs like they were butter.

I found the service on Angie's List and called to set an appointment. Steven (an employee) was able to come out the next day and gave a very reasonable estimate. I had just purchased the house and I had lots of questions regarding the types of palms and other landscaping plants in the yard. Steven was able to name all but one of the plants and give me advise on maintenance. We scheduled the trimming for 3 days later (a Friday). Friday morning Brian (son of the owner) showed up as scheduled and after a quick review of the jobs, he went right to work. He was able to access the full height of the Mexican Fan Palm in the front yard with the boom on his truck and made quick work of it. The result was impressive. Then he went to work on the huge bird of paradise plant and had no issues with me guiding him in exactly how I wanted it done. In other words, he works very well with the customer and ego did not get in the way. He was very meticulous in how he extracted the parts targeted for removal without damaging the fence or the rest of the plant. He even trimmed up the stalk to give it a clean look and gave me advise on how to maintain the look without damaging the plant. The last part of the job was removing the Queen Palm that was less than 3' from the house with fronds that were contacting the side of the house and on to the roof. He used climbing equipment to perform this job and again, made very quick work of it. I've done tree topping (30+ years ago) and I was very impressed by his skill level and use of safety gear. At the end of the job, they cleaned up everything very well and made an adjustment (in my favor) on the price due to being unable to grind the palm stump (the grinder would not fit in the space between the house and the fence). They even applied an 11% discount for finding them on Angie's List. Overall an excellent job and I'll have them back for some transplant work in the fall when it gets cooler. I'd highly recommend Roy L. Schwartz Tree Service for jobs like mine.

They did a careful and professional job, and cleaned up carefully. I get them back every year to do this, because I feel satisfied with their workmanship when they leave.

He was clean and efficient, and his price was right on. He had all the proper equipment to do a big job. He was an overall nice guy, as was his crew. I would definitely use him again.

They missed the initial appointment date & time. They seemed embarrassed about the mixup & Roy came out to do the proposal. Would have considered using them if closer to the bid I accepted.

Roy and his team installed a bio barrier to stop roots from destroying our patio and they trimmed our trees. they hauled all the debris away and cleaned up the yard after the job. They were polite and professional. Our trees look great and hopefully the root barrier is in place. Hopefully it works!

Estimate was scheduled for 3 p.m. today, June 25. I received a phone call before 7:30 a.m. this morning and another shortly thereafter, followed by hearing footsteps in my backyard. I was asleep and these phone calls and hearing someone walking in my back yard woke me. When I got up I found a message from Roy Schwartz Tree Service on my answering machine. He did not give his name but the message indicated he wanted to come early and do the estimate. I also found his card affixed to the front door. I called his office later and expressed my displeasure that our agreement to meet at 3 p.m. was disregarded and that someone had called and come so early without my permission. The woman I spoke with in the office said she would relay the message. I received a call back from the guy who was here in the morning (he never did give his name). When I told him that he had awakened me and that the appt. was for 3 p.m. and not 7:30 a.m., his response was, "7:30 is too early for you and 3:00 is too late for me. I then stated that if I had been told that 3:00 was too late, the appt. could have been scheduled at an earlier time, but 3:00 p.m. was the time agreed to in my initial phone contact. He then made a snarky comment about moving on or wanting to know if I just wanted to forget it. Since his attitude and conduct were so unprofessional, I told him to forget it. I would never recommend this person--he was rude and had no permission to enter my backyard without my knowledge so early in the morning.

Contacted Roy based on the posted Angie's List comments. Roy came out the next day to evaluate the site and submitted his bid (included a 5% Angie's List discount). After accepting Roy's bid, the work was completed the following day. The work was performed in a professional manner for a reasonable price. I would not hesitate to use Roy's services in the future.

This was a great experience. I chose Roy because of the very good Angieslist rating and wasn't disappointed. He was prompt, both in meeting for scheduled estimate, and for the arrival for date of service. He oversaw his team do exactly what I asked and they cleaned up when they left. It's so nice not to be disappointed.

The trees and yard look great. I had used another company previously and was not happy. Roy & his crew corrected those problems. He came out to give me an estimate within 1-2 days from when I left him an e-mail, which was Monday, and they did the job on Friday. I will use them again, and highly recommend this service.

Excellent. Could not have asked for better service. Roy kept the appointment for an estimate at the exact time. His price was actually less than another service that did not entail removing a tree. We are very pleased with the result. Now we have an abundance of sun and have removed a messy tree from our outdoor eating space. Roy is not just a tree trimmer but a certified arborist. Why settle for less when you can get the best at a fair price.

Went better than anticipated. Saved the tree from being hacked and leaving a gaping hole where the branches had been bent over, trimmed up what needed trimming, cleaned up and hauled away the mess. That and a $25 discount. Couldn't have gone better.

Rot and his crew were wonderful. They stayed late so they could finish the job all in one day, making a pretty long one since they started at 8 am. I had two large rubber trees in my neighbor's yard which had broken the driveway and were threatening the concrete slab of my house. The trees had also overgrown the property line by about 5 feet and were encroaching on the house. Roy came out very promptly to do an estimate, recommending that we install Bio barrier along the property line to guarantee that the roots wouldn't threaten the slab in the future. The large sticker price reflects mainly the cost of the barrier and installation: 65 feet was pricey, but worth the peace of mind. The price simply to trim the rubber trees back to the property line was only $750. Roy and his drew were timely, friendly, professional, and reasonably priced. I wouldn't go with anyone else!

The project went very well and we were totally pleased with the results.

They did an excellent job and were very professional. Their bid was much higher than other tree trimmers, but they were able to complete the trimming job immediately. Since I was leaving town the next day, I was happy they could accommodate me and I didn't mind spending the extra money.

We wanted to prune two tall trees and clear an area to create a raised bed for a vegetable garden. Roy and son Brian were great. They arrived right on time with a full complement of climbing, cutting and grinding equipment. They completed the entire project in half a day and left the area looking immaculate. Roy is a certified arborist and it shows. He knows and cares for plants and had many good suggestions. All at what we considered a very fair price.

After receiving estimates from 3 tree service companies, I decided to go have Roy because of his reasonable cost, his schedule for doing the work agreed with mine and all the favorable reviews on Angie's List. He and his crew arrived on time and made quick work of the project. Roy carefully downed each tree being cautious at all times as these trees were HUGE! Everything was cleaned up thoroughly. It is really difficult to see that there were ever any trees in that area. Roy was very professional in all aspects of the project. I would definitely recommend him to others in need of tree service.

We had some dead branches so he removed them. He was on time. He came with his son and crew. I liked that he came himself because he is a certified arborist. I think the job was a little sloppy; it could have been a little more attractive. The price was fair. I thought I was hiring him to prune the entire tree and he did not do very much of that so I was a little disappointed. He was knowledgeable even when I called him over the phone to tell him what I thought the problem was, he knew. The tree is fine, getting new growth and is fine.

I called Roy and he answered that day. He came out the next day and looked at the tree in question. He started the work the day after. He was on time, courteous, and professional. I am very very pleased with his service. When he got done it looked like a sculpture. He also cleaned up the site beyond expectation. I would recommend him to anybody.

I called Roy up for an appt. to remove two trees. His normal scheduling hours were not compatible with my work hours. I asked if he could come at 9 sharp, so at least I'd only miss one hour of work. He went out of his way, and showed up at 8. Of course, I had decided to sleep in because I thought he was coming later, but anyways it was highly appreciated. The estimate was significantly higher than another one I received, and considering it wasn't very complicated, I decided to go with the lower estimate. If I had a more "challenging" project, I probably would have chosen him.
