We signed our contract with PDR on June 6, 2013 and were excited to get started. It then took the company over 6 weeks to arrange to have subcontractors visit the site, give us a working estimate and get the project started. This delay was the first breech of contract. For the next 15 weeks, workers showed up intermittently, sometimes only one or two times a week. Some of the work, such as the cabinetry and plumbing, were well accomplished; other aspects,of the job were poorly done requiring requests for re-do such as the ugly fluorescent electrical fixtures and crooked and misplaced electrical outlets, poorly installed microwave, cooktop and oven. (We redid some of this work ourselves). Some parts of the project, such as the eating counter and tiling, were still not even begun five weeks into the project. We hired our own subcontractors to complete this work.

We lived for two months with no kitchen and a huge hole in our front bedroom wall. The site was dusty and messy; debris piled up in our yard for weeks. Twice we contacted the company owner to ask for help and we begin to email the site manager daily. Nothing changed.

Once the work was about 80% complete, PDR sent us a final and quot;estimateand quot;charging us $18,000 in additional costs with no written or oral change orders. This was the second breech of contract. Included in the charges was a $2,000 charge for unnecessary and undone asbestos treatment. This was the third breech of contract. We paid 80% of original bid, including payment for all work actually done.

We then discovered PDR had failed to pull the building permits required by the city. This was the fourth breech of contract.

After making several attempts to resolve our differences, we hired a lawyer. In January, a representative from PDR finally met with us, offered to complete the punch list, but refused to pull permits or consider our concerns about the cost. We pulled our own permits.

Finally in March, 2014 PDR's owner visited our home and PDR completed the punch list. We then wrote a check for the remainder of the original bid price.

Our remodel is finally complete and is beautiful. 60% of the credit goes to our own subcontractors.
PDR did not honor their company's pledge to be respectful of customer needs, reliable, conscientious and on time.

The upstairs washing machine broke and water flooded down stairs. the insurance company referred Paul Davis. Big mistake. Long story short, the restoration started in January and was not complete until late April. Most of the workers needed onsite supervision. My house was not respected with regards to daily cleaning. I do not recommend the use of this company.

They did their work efficiently, but left the tarp there for several weeks. When our insurance adjuster determined that there was no damage to the roof, we gave them a call and they promptly came out and removed the tarp and sanbags.

The estimator came out on a Saturday, gave me an estimate (and suggested it was worth involving my insurance), and talked with me at length about what the process entailed and the things they may find. I spoke with my insurance and got approval for them to do the work, and they came in that Monday. They were prompt, courteous, professional and did an excellent job of drying things out, as well as documenting every step of the proces. They did a good job of cleaning up after themselves, I think the floors were cleaner after they finished than they had been before the flood. I was referred to them by a coworker, and was pleased to learn my homeowner's insurance had an ongoing relationship with them.
They made the process as painless as possible, given the circumstances.

I decided to get a second opinion after freaking out following the first opinion about the potential for mold in my house. As an older, single woman I always feel a bit vulnerable when dealing with people I don't know on subjects that I know little about. I have a realtor friend who highly recommended Paul Davis Restoration and Remodeling as very competent and professional. The two men who came to my home had a no nonsense professional approach. They saw nothing that would require drastic measures. My anxiety level is significantly reduced and I feel like I have found a company I can trust if any further problems should arise.

When I originally called to find out if this company provided free estimates I was told the estimator would need to contact me. It took several days for Steve to make contact with me. When he did come to my house he was unable to make an accurate assessment since he felt another contractor they use for cabinet work needed to evaluate the damage. I was told that person would call within the next couple days. After three days I called Steve again to find out why I hadn't heard from the cabinet builder. He seemed surprised and said Ricky would call me soon. I heard from Ricky shortly thereafter, but he was unable to make it to my house that day nor the next. Friday rolled around and this day no phone call at all. Next...

They were very polite, consistent, and prompt. They didn't leave any messes and we really appreciated it. They completed the job as quickly as possible for us. It took about five days to just dry out everything and the rest didn't take too long. They even recommended a flooring place to us which turned out to be wonderful!
