Top notch auto repair service. The people were very well versed in their service work. They answered just about every question that I threw at them. and were friendly. Car repair turned out great. I felt very comfortable with the service and I have my brakes done. Very happy with the outcome.
Description of Work: Great auto mechanic. In fact, one of the best I have ever had. I get my Toyota Truck and my wife gets her Lexus repair by A Plus Japanese Auto Repair in San Carlos. I recommend them whenever you need car repair or service and you are in the San Carlos area.

Description of Work: I was very happy with their communication and work. My husband noticed that the price of the part on my invoice was dramatically higher than the list price on Honda's website. He contacted them, and the service manager immediately discounted the cost and said he'd find out what happened. We haven't heard more about it, but the price was reduced. I'll go there again and make sure I'm asking more questions.

Description of Work: New tires/alignment and fluids changed. General checkup. | |The glitch was they needed the car 2 days and when I got it back someone else's keys had been left in my cup holder. They did come out to retrieve them but it made me question their security.

Description of Work: Basically, through my own idiocy, I got significant debris under my valve cover (when changing oil, this is where you pour oil into - debris here is bad, but the oil filter and a second permanent filter down by the drain pan). Anyway, A+ removed the valve cover, picked out all the debris and cleaned it out, and then removed the oil pan, picked out the debris, cleaned out debris from the build in filter, and then put it back (plus new gaskets), and a 24 mo / 24K mile warranty on both services. They did this FAST, on the week of Thanksgiving, AND, since they knew a guy at Enterprise, I was able to leave my rental car with them and someone from Enterprise PICKED UP MY RENTAL from the shop! A huge time saver. The one downside to this awesome level of service? Well, you get what you pay for, in a good way this time - their prices are a fair bit higher than what I would expect for essentially valve cover and oil pan gasket replacement + oil change, even including the cleaning, but in this case, it was worth it - I feel like I can trust the quality of the work and they made my life infinitely easier with both the speed of their turn-around and that whole rental car thing.

I had an excellent experience at A+ Japanese Auto Repair Inc.
Description of Work: I used A+ Japanese Auto Repair Inc. They have been servicing three cars for us, so they have done all of our schedule maintenance and other repairs since our dealer warranty expired on three different Toyota cars. Most recently, I have driven a Camry hybrid, and the hybrid battery died, but they are getting me a quote of four thousand dollars to repair it. T together we discovered that it was, even though the car has over hundred thousand miles and was still under warranty with the dealer for that particular part. So they took care of getting it towed up to the dealer from their shop in St Carlo's and then when the work was done they had it brought back to the St Carlo's shop for me to pick it up, and it was all at no cost to me. The repair was under warranty, but they had quoted four thousand dollars if they were to do it, because of the hybrid battery which would cost three thousand dollars alone. So, I did some research, and they did some research,and they talked to their contact with the service department at the dealership and got us foot in, so that I was not paying for the rental car over the weekend.

They are great. They have great customer service. I would recommend them to anybody. The first time I was there I know I spent over $1,000, but then, I had to go back and it was not nearly as much. They were great because they were not able to finish everything the first time. I got my car back and they had to order parts. They would not even let me pay until all the services were completely done to satisfaction. They just seem very trustworthy like the car was there for the big service, and they took pictures of everything and e-mailed what was to be done and that is why there were pictures. They just came across as very trustworthy. They are very easy to work with. If they make a mistake, they paid the cost.
Description of Work: I took my car to A+ Japanese Auto Repair Inc. for auto services. We have been there a few times. I had dashboard lights came on. They had to check engine. It was kind of a mystery and they had to figure stuff out. They did like a hundred thousand mile service. So, it was just an overall stuff and figuring out services.

I called A+ Japanese Auto Repair for a replacement of rear break light bulb as it was burned out. I emailed the owner and asked for a quote. He said it was a very easy job and he can replace it for free. I was little suspicious but when I arrive at the place. The owner wasn't there but he did refer to his staff. They promptly looked at my car as it was Sat morning. I only waited 15mins and they returned the car to me with the light blub replaced. I highly recommend them.

For two days, A Plus tried to get my Nissan to repeat it's problem. They checked all possible systems that might be the cause. They road tested it, they scanned the computer and found no trouble codes. They checked the ignition and fuel system and found no faults. Since my mother's 2004 Altima had stalled and died numerous times, and it turned out that her car's computer board needed reprogramming under a recall, they called Nissan about recalls for computer boards of the 2005 Altimas (they found that mine had been reprogrammed when I had another recall fixed). Neither the shop nor I could get the car to repeat the rough idling and stalling issue. One of the service managers, Rob, even drove the car home and back to see himself if he could get the car to repeat the problem. After all this checking, A Plus refused to accept any payment what so ever for all their work, because their policy is that if they couldn't fix the problem, or can't find it, they don't charge. I was able to drive the Altima home, assured that the issue had probably been a random hiccup (it had sat for three weeks with no driving while I was away on a trip) and was not a remaining or lingering problem that was going to strand me on the side of the highway. I trust A Plus' work that much. And the Altima has not repeated it's problem in three month's of driving since then. I wish I had as trusted an auto repair shop where I now live. When I first started using A Plus, on the recommendation of my sister who has taken all her cars to them, it was owned and operated by Ray and Diane, whose sons now operate it. A Plus has been consistently excellent, and they take great pride in their work. I highly recommend them.
Description of Work: While away from home, my 2005 Nissan Altima suddenly began idling roughly at a stop light, and then died. I restarted it (and it was still running rough), and pulled off the road and called A Plus, who had been my auto repair shop from 1998 through 2004 until I moved away from the area (they serviced my previous car, which was a Mazda.) After contacting the shop, they said they could look at it right away, realizing I was three hours from home. I fearful of getting on the highway without knowing what had happened, even though after the car sat for half an hour, it started up and ran smoothly. Although the car started and ran OK, I had the car towed across the bay to the shop (I was in the East Bay and their shop is on the Peninsula).

They did a really good job. They were very thorough and did not try to sell me anything that I did not need. They were looking for a leak, because it was obvious that I had a leak and then when they refilled it the leak went away. He said that it was not leaking, so there is no reason to do anything else. I would use them.

They were fine, they're just pretty high priced. I think the quality of the work was good and the price is expensive. I was a little suspicious and it's a lot of money but on the other hand, I think it's a good deal and they can find the problem so these guys end up and did fix the problem and maybe that was the problem but if the compressor's really bad, I figured the dealership should have found out that too so I don't know what issues. On the other hand, the air conditioning works now so they fixed it, it just cost a lot of money. They had trouble getting a hold of me. I probably would actually because they maybe the best of the bad group.
Description of Work: I did use A+ Japanese Auto Repair Inc. about a month ago.They replaced the air conditioning compressor and also an oxygen sensor and I wasn't 100% told that the compressor is really bad but it's only the things you kind of, I guess at some point you have to trust them.

Dropped the car off at 8:00, had it back shortly after noon. Rob explained that some items were marginal (e.g. slight discoloration in brake fluid), but they could wait until the next scheduled service. They are about 20 miles form my home, but we've been using them to service our 3 Toyotas for a couple years now. When he heard I was nearby, and debating whether to wait for the car or go home and get a ride back later in the day to pick up my car, he had the technician re-arrange work to get my car to me sooner. On other occasions, they carefully explain what work they're recommending and why, and whether it can be delayed until the next service, or even longer. We trust them completely. They may cost slightly more than other places for the work they do perform, but don't sell you work you don't need.

I have used them before. I don't like the Honda dealer so it is nice A Plus take care of it for me. A Plus does tend to charge a little more but I faith in them that they only do what they need to do. I trust them. Their price is a little high per service but they d not do unnecessary work.
