The initial process went well. Ruben Luna, the estimator came out, took measurements and asked me questions about what I wanted, where they could drop limbs, ect. He said he needed to get estimates from the crane company before he could provide me an estimate. That seemed quite reasonable (even responsible) to me! At the time I said I wanted a estimate and 3 comparable reference. He'd said that they do so many jobs that finding the contact info for the references would be difficult. A couple of days later, they dropped off the estimate. I also received 2 references (I don't remember if by email, with the estimate or by phone.) The references they gave me were strange. One, which did seem to be a comparable, never returned my phone calls. The second one was a man who had never had them do work for him but had worked in the Sacramento City Department of Urban Forestry over two years ago. He had no direct experience working with Tree Tech. Strange! Later checking references on another company, I spoke to a woman who'd previously hired Tree Tech and described them as B-... not exactly bad, but not very good either. Also, when I checked court records, it gave me pause, although I couldn't be sure that I had the correct individual as opposed to another individual with the same name. Overall, I got the strong impression I did not want to hire Tree Tech to do a huge project where if things went wrong, they could go realllllly wrong.
Description of Work: Gave estimate for removal of a huge Coastal Redwood that is within 4 feet of our house. The tree is over 100' tall and is almost 14' in circumference at breast height. Provided references upon request.

We used both Angie's List and friend's recommendations to decide which tree trimming businesses to ask for estimates. Tree Tech's estimate was not the very lowest but it was one of the lowest. The clincher for us was that they gave us a detailed breakdown of the work they would do. Several other estimates did not give us the total amount of all the work that we asked them to bid on, e.g. the cost of grinding the tree stumps or the removal of the grinding debris. We did not want any unexpected surprises on the cost of this major tree project. Tree Tech delivered in every way from start to finish. We do not hesitate to recommend them.
Description of Work: We solicited eight (8) bids to remove 5 dying Modesto Ash trees from the perimeter of our property and to grind the 5 stumps to below ground surface. We wanted to have the tree wood and grinding debris removed.

The removal of the tree they did a good job and did a good job cleaning up. How ever on the tree trimming I wasn't too happy because they just chopped down one side of the tree cutting it away from the house and that was it they didn't trim to balance out the tree. I had to call them to come out to trim the tree again. They came back out and retrimmed the tree. I was pleased with the timely response. Yes I would call them again.

We had several tree stumps that needed to be ground down. After several inquiries, Tree Tech came in as the lowest bidder. They came out the morning of May 24th, 2011, and gave us the bid. They said they could probably come back within the next couple of days, but called us later that day and asked if that afternoon would be OK. It was and they came back. They finished the job in about an hour. They did a great job. First of all, they had to go through a 36" gate with their machinery and they maneuvered it with great skill through that gate. Second, there was one stump that was right against the house and we were worried that they would not be able to get it all for fear that they would chip the succo on the house. Instead, they got it ALL out and there wasn't a scratch on the stucco. They did a great job, were very helpful, and very professional and curteous.

I've used Tree Tech before and I am very pleased with their work. I contacted them last month when I realized it my elm tree was in need of some serious pruning - it had been 3 years since the last trim. Reuben came out, inspected the elm tree and the two smaller trees I wanted removed, and he left an estimate for me to review. I called and scheduled the appt. for the following week. Their crew came out and by the time I got home the work was done. Tree Tech is super efficient and clean - there is NO debris left when they leave and the stumps are completely ground down. I had the elm tree done by another arborist years ago and the cost for this job is consistent with what I have paid before - this tree is big, so trimming it is not a small job - not to mention Tree Tech removed two other trees at the same time.
Description of Work: Tree Tech removed one small tree in front, removed a second smaller tree in the back, and trimmed up a very large elm tree in the back.

of the three companies I contacted for an estimate, this was the only one that bothered to return my call/e-mail. they did a good clean job. arrived on time, got straight to work, completed the job quickly. came back one week later to grind stump. ended up cutting a cable for landscape lighting in the process. was disappointed about that but contract did indicate that they were not responsible for damage. the prices seemed a bit high for what they did but wanted to use professionals who were knowledgeable about proper trimming techniques. would use them again.

The job went as expected. The tree was cut down, the limbs were put through a shredder, and the trunk was cut up and removed. The stump was ground up, as well as the large surface roots coming from it. I Asked the technicians to follow the roots a bit further than they anticipated and dig them out, which they did. All the debris was raked up and removed. They had two large steel plates with them to place on the lawn to prevent the stump grinder from making ruts in the turf, but one of the plates had to be used to prevent debris generated by the grinder from flying toward the house. As a result the grinder, which is a heavy vehicle, left some short ruts in the turf. If the lawn hadn't been wet from the seasonal rain it might not have been a problem. When they were finishing up the job and getting ready to leave, I asked them the standard, "Hmmm . . . as long as you're here . . . " question, and at my request they removed a few dead branches from a couple of pear trees in the back yard for a very minimal charge. Overall I think they did a very good job, and I wouldn't hesitate to hire them to do it again.
Description of Work: They cut down and removed a medium sized seven-year old sycamore from our front yard, ground the stump and removed some large surface roots. They charged exactly what the estimate was.

Of the 3 contractors I selected from AngiesList to provide estimates, all were satisfactory. I decided to go with Tree Tech Services not only because their estimate was the lowest, but arborist Ruben Luna was friendly and willingly spent more time to share his knowledge particularly about replacement tree choices. He was very accommodating with my requests as you'll see below. We needed to have three 55-year-old Modesto ash trees removed because they had run their course and were in very bad condition. I requested an estimate that included options of pruning (to save the cooling shade) or removing, of leaving stumps or having ground out, of keeping some or all of the wood, of keeping some or all of the woodchips, of selecting and saving several 10' limbs for a project, and a time period when the removal would be imminent. We decided to defer to keep the shade for one last summer. The estimate was done in February, and when I called back in the fall to schedule the work, the office staff was friendly and efficient in scheduling a prompt appointment, adjusting my order with options I decided to change, and accepting payment by charge card. The workers were on time, friendly and worked hard. They provided several "extras" for me beginning with dragging a tent across the yard, and then back after work was finished. E.T. made an extra effort to cut the 3 stumps level (with a chainsaw not long enough to reach across), and with Pedro and Miguel did me the favor of lifting my granite slabs onto the stumps to make counters/tables. (The granite was a fabulous Freecycle.org score!) Several times E.T. asked if there was anything else they could do because "you are the boss." And in fact, they also cut off an 4' x 8" diameter "weed tree" that we'd only been able to half cut down ourselves. From the original estimate of $2230, after my changed choices, senior discount and Tree Tech website $25 off coupon, the total was $1785. How could you ask for more?!
Description of Work: Removed 3 large trees, flattened top of stumps, removed small 8" diameter half-tree, left some pieces for firewood and left large pile of woodchips, as requested.

We first called two services for bids. One estimate was too high. The second service took so long to provide a bid that we contacted a third service, Tree Tech. They came out to give a bid the very next day; it was half as expensive as the first bid. Since the quote was their minimum charge, he offered to do additional work to get our money's worth, so we asked them to work on a second tree. They performed the service two days later. The crew arrived within the promised window, did the work, and cleaned up thoroughly. We were very pleased at the promptness and professionalism. A neighbor came over and liked what she saw so asked them to bid on work that she needs done.

Came out and provided a bid by email. It took them 2 days to complete all of the work (Removed 2 oak trees and a palm tree and a locust tree and ground their stumps so you can't even see where they were. Pruned and injected fertilizer for a large oak tree. )They left the oak wood as I requested and removed the wood from the palm and locust trees. The neighbors were happy that they cleaned everything up. I was happy with their excellent work and price was $1200 cheaper than the other quote I got.

I've never used a tree removal service, so I didn't know which one to pick. Fortunately, the guys at Tree Tech Services were the right ones. After calling their number, the secretary had Lew, their certified arborist, call me an hour later and we set up an appointment the same day. I had a 8 ft palm tree growing at my fence line that was breaking the fence. I also had a tree stump that needed to be removed. I tried to cut the tree down myself, but stopped after I got to the stump part. He gave me such an affordable price to remove the palm tree and the tree stump, that I also asked him to give me a price to cut down a 10 ft peach tree that was dying. The price for all three trees (well, two trees and a stump) was $285. The day I picked for them to remove the trees was raining but they came out anyways and quickly removed all three trees in the rain. They did the entire job in less than 2 hours. They left my backyard clean without leaves or debris. I was very pleased with their service. I probably won't have them back since I no longer have any trees to cut down. Overall, they did a great job. They even sent me a thank you card a few days after the job. If I had another tree to cut down, I'd call them.

Contacted company and Suzanne from the office was very helpful in arranging time for estimator to come. Estimator was on time and explained options for what would be good for the type of pruning I was interested in. Job was assigned to a crew within two days and work was done. Crew actually arrived early and walked the project with me to make sure which trees were to be pruned. Crew was very polite and worked very quickly. They pruned, took the limbs to the front of the house, chipped them up, then picked up any small branches that might have fallen in the garden and then used a blower to clean up even further. The three fruit trees were in a raised bed and they even spread the dirt around the area for future planting.

i hired Tree Tech as my sister has used them on numerous occasions to remove trees from her property. She found them very professional and they charged a fair price. i met with one of their knowledgeable Certified Arborists. He took a great deal of time to go over our property, name trees, let me know when would be the ideal time to prune. We agreed on a price of $150-200 to remove the huge stump in question. When they came out to remove the stump, to both of our amazement, it was not a stump grown into the ground. The previous owners had just hauled and placed a huge stump there. They cut it up and hauled it off and weren't going to charge me a thing, as they felt they had made a mistake in assuming it was a stump, also. i insisted and we agreed on $50. i will be using them in the future for any tree-related needs. i really appreciate their honesty and knowledge.

I received four estimates for this service including the removal of a 40ft cedar in the front yard which we decided to not have them cut since they were more than a $1000 more than another angies's list company. For the work on these two trees, they were the most reasonable. Scheduling is a two-step process but they were very accomodating when they did call. The workers showed up just after the two hour window they set but they did a great job and cleaned up the mess. I would use them again based on performance but would always compare the prices since oddly enough they were good on some items and much more on others.

Initially they missed an appointment to give me an estimate. I had left work early to meet them. The lady who answers their telephone was very helpful, and the next day they came in my absence and left an estimate for exactly the work I needed done. The scheduled the work promptly and performed it as I had requested. I had a question about the trimming of the tree in the back yard and was able to get the answer the next working day. I am very pleased with the work that was done. They removed the two trees and left nothing that we had to pick up.

They were very polite over the telephone and said it was no problem that I wouldn't be here when they came to do the estimate. They followed up the estimate with a call about a week or so later at which time I requested they set a date. On the agreed date, they arrived early in the morning, working swiftly, silently, and safely. The work was done very competently. At my request, the trunk was cut into firewood and placed where I requested. The workers were very gracious to do that. The workers were done in short order and the site was left clean of debris.
Description of Work: They came out, examined the tree in the front yard, hand wrote a detailed estimate, put the estimate in my drop box, phoned later, set a date, set up safety zone, safely and quickly took down the tree even cutting it into manageable hunks and setting it aside where I requested with promptness and courtesy. They worked on the stump as requested and cleaned up well after themselves.

On both occasions, Tree Tech was professional and courteous. They arrived when they said they would, did a professional and aesthetic job shaping the tree and cutting out the mistletoe. As previously, it was very easy to schedule an estimate. After we received the estimate, we contacted Michelle in the office and the work was scheduled for 2 days later. A crew of 3 men worked very efficiently. They lifted several blocks of cement to reach the large tree roots. We were very pleased with the work they performed. The area was cleaned up well before they left. We would not hesitate to use this company again.
Description of Work: We had used Tree Tech Services 3 months ago. The same estimator, Peterson, came to give us an estimate. We wanted a large camphor tree cut down because it was lifting cement in the yard and was too close to the house. We wanted them to grind the roots and also trim an apricot tree in the same yard. In addition, 2 small bushes in front of the house were pruned.

Tech Tree Service responded quickly to a web submission for a quote, getting some basic details and saying that the estimator would be contacting us. He did so later that day and we set up an appointment for three days later. He arrived on time, was friendly, forthcoming and professional. His bid was a couple dollars less than the other best one that we got and I liked the estimator's attitude so we went with Tree Tech. Scheduling the actual work was a bit of a challenge. The scheduler insisted on leaving messages on our home phone rather than calling my work phone. Once, they scheduled the work to be done on Wednesday (an unacceptable day) and left the message on our home phone on Tuesday. I didn't get the message until after I got home from work, by which time their office was closed. I called the estimator's cell phone and he said that he would make sure that they didn't send the crew out on a day that we could not meet them. Eventually, we got an acceptable date set with an estimated arrival time of 8 am. The day before, the crew chief called my work phone to say that they had an emergency job come up and that they would be here between 9 and 11. "Is that OK?" Yes, it was perfectly fine, but I'm not sure what would have happened if I'd said "no." The crew of three arrived at about 11:15 and set to work. Of the three, the grunt was very good. He had to jump my neighbor's fence to clean up anything that fell there. (I had let the neighbor know ahead of time that this was a possibility.) The climber was fantastic. I could see that he was being very careful about not letting limbs fall where they may, but was grabbing them and dropping them into open areas so as not to damage nearby plants, fences, etc. He also ran the stump grinder and was careful about not severing irrigation lines that were quite close by. The chipper operator, and only native English speaker on the crew, was a bit of a grouch. We had a disagreement about exactly what branches were supposed to be removed from one of the trees. He called the estimator back to settle the dispute to our satisfaction and the work concluded. In all it took about 3 hours to do the work, but 30-45 minutes of that was for a lunch break. Everything was nicely cleaned up when they left. We're very satisfied with the work and would certainly call Tree Tech Services back again.
Description of Work: We had four medium-sized trees removed from the backyard, stumps ground for three of them, plus a couple of large over-hanging limbs removed from our neighbor's tree. In the end, we got exactly what we wanted for what I think is a very good price.
