Southgate Glass

After we first contacted Southgate to schedule our
appointment we received in the mail a packet from that included window
pamphlets, other information and a CD/DVD that showed us what to expect in a
window replacement job. We were very
impressed by this because no other company did this. This information assisted us in becoming more
knowledgeable about what we needed.
The first meeting was great. The sales person was very
knowledgeable about his product and egress. We were provided the most detailed,
professional estimate that we had seen.
At the second meeting the sales person brought two people from his
installation team and we went over how the job would be done. This was a very nice touch and made us feel
even more comfortable.
The windows we purchased were the Milgard Tuscany. These windows are excellent in Quality.
We negotiated a final price, the contract was signed. The
job was completed and we could not be happier. Southgate has follow up twice to
make sure we are happy.

We strongly recommend this company because they simply go
above and beyond the other companies in professionalism and quality.

I didn't purchase a coupon, I had called another window company, and they are an older couple, so she suggested I use Southgate Glass. I really liked them. The man that came did it all by himself, which is what saved me money, because we have very large patio doors that are very tall. So the door is a lot heavier, and most companies would have sent two people, but he said he could do it all. That save me 50 or 60 Dollars.

Got average service in the store, but when I picked up the door three days later, the job quality was poor. The screen was wavy rather than taught. This is the second time I had this problem

I only had them do the replacement of the window, which was done very well and quickly. I did the installation of the screen that they made.

They came out and replaced the window. They came out one day and took measurements and brought the window back the next day. They also reattached my sun shade on my window it fell off again and they came right back to repair it. They are always professional and prompt with reasonable prices. I will use them again in the future.

The came out to the house, measured the windows, gave me a very competive estimate, and did the work. They did a great job.

We called Southgate about a vertical sliding window where one of the sash balances had broken. I'd taken the part out of the window frame in order to get the window closed. Southgate answered the phone quickly, and after some quick questions, asked for the part number on the sash balance. They recommended that both sash balances be replaced, provided a reasonable quote, and scheduled the work at a time that was good for us.
The Southgate technician called to confirm the day of the appointment, came out right on time, and did the work quickly and very well. He also made some suggestions on what I could do myself to keep my windows working well longer.
All in all, the repair could not have been easier. My highest recommendation.

From the start they where awesome. Really responsive and polite. Great prices. I needed the window replaced fast for a home appraisal and called a few places. They where the only ones able and willing to do it on short notice. They recommended a new way of tinting it, came out perfect. They replaced it really fast and have had no issues to date. Would use them again for sure.

It was difficult to find a contractor to replace our windows. We had at least 8 companies come out to bid. Of those, only 4 actually submitted one. We decided on Southgate as a family member had used them before so we knew the quality and treatment we should expect. The quote took a little longer than I expected as the estimator made it sound like he plugs the dimensions into a computer software program and it automatically gives a number. That did not seem to be the case as it took about 10 days to get the quote. The quote increased slightly because the estimator, nor his handy software, were familiar with the Milgard product enough to know the style we chose could not be made in a tight enough radius for two of our arched windows. We agreed to pay half the difference, and after arguing for a week, they agreed to pay the other half.
The crew was very courteous and conscientious of our 8 month old son and his nap times. They did an awesome job not leaving any windows out overnight or leaving a mess between work days. They created no dust in the house and left not one scrap of debris outside, I was amazed. I am very picky when it comes to people doing work in our house and I could not find one issue with their work, nothing. They were even gracious enough to leave a few of the vinyl interior cover strips in case we remodeled in the future we could easily replace with new ones.

TERRIBLE DELAYS! I would not reccomend this company if you actually want work to be done.! We needed a patio wall screened in. When I called they said they could do the project and went to the trouble of sending someone out to look and take measurements. Dave said we would have a quote/estimate by Mon. or Tues. (this was Fri.) We waited 2 weeks before we called just thinking they were busy. No one could find our quote in the system and the boss Brian was out the rest of the week. They were going to look and call us. No one did! We called again and the kid that answered the phone said he would find the info/estimate and call us back with an update. Never did! We called again and finally talked to Brian who still said they could do the work and would send us an estimate to my email. We did finally get a quote and had a couple of quick questions which we wanted to discuss but Brian never called us back. We emailed our questions and he never responded. This company hung us up for a MONTH! Always saying they wanted the job and could do the job. but apparently not. Maybe they do good work but we will never know and have no desire to find out now.

They are honest.

Arrived as agreed to provide estimate and was very helpful and professional. Arranged for company representative to come and detail work needed to be done and sign contract. Installers arrived as scheduled and completed job as agreed. Company arranged for stucco contract to come next day to finish exterior work. Very happy with the work and final product.

They provided us with a new frame/screen in just a couple of days for a price I thought was very reasonable.

We are very disappointed in Southgate Glass and Screen. They are relatively unresponsive in the estimating stage. Coordination between their own employees is poor and in the end, not only did they not get the estimate right, but they were completely unapologetic about their terrible service. Brad, the Southgate estimator, arrived on time to make the estimate and proceeded to measure the windows for both repair of the sealed dual-pane unit and for the complete replacement of the windows with new vinyl windows. That was on Wednesday, 7/28/10. When we hadn't heard in 5 business days, we called Southgate to find out what the hold-up was. The fellow who answered the phone "looked on the computer" and gave us the price for the repair, but claimed ignorance about replacement. He couldn't explain why nobody had called to give us the estimate. Since he couldn't help us with the second half of the estimate, he said he would have the manager call when he got out of a meeting. Four days later, Jeff, who I assume is the manager, left a message on our home machine. He didn't leave the estimate. When we called back, we had to leave a message and it took Jeff over 6 hours to return the call. That was on 8/9/10. He couldn't explain about the breakdown in communication that led to us not even getting an estimate for replacement and he was unapologetic about it taking almost two weeks to just get an estimate. We decided to go with another company. There's another thing that bothered us. Why don't they provide written estimates? With all the communication problems it seems there is lots of opportunity for there to be disagreement about the scope of work and the price. I think other Angie's list members should select a firm that demonstrates a little more professionalism.

Their price was competitive. They were professional and good at their business. I haven't had a chance to inspect the work yet.

Found out Home depot has the exact same close doors (Warehouse wardrobe Trimline) for almost half the price. Home depot had it for $189, Southgate sold to use for $355. They wont match. The only reason we were able to return the closet doors was because they delivered the wrong closet doors to us. We were able to get it from home depot and saved over $500 for 3 closet doors. Home Depot even honor the %10 couple from Lowes for us. Home depot have also have similar shower doors for much less as well. However they already installed the shower doors. It took them 3 trips and each I have to take days off work. First time they installed it, they installed the cheap doors ( not the ones we ordered which cost about $400). They did also ordered the wrong closet door as mentioned above, not sure why its hard for them to deliver the items we ordered and paid for. On the second time, when they installed the correct door, it squeaked very loud. The installer could not fix it so they had to order another hinge. They finally install the new hinge on the third trip. We found a few other problems we were able to fix ourself because I did not want to take another day off to wait for these guys. The water would drip outside when the shower door is open after a shower. The drip guard was not leveled and tilt to the side that cause the water to flow out. We were able to fix this by adjusting the drip guard. The slider shower door does not slide smoothly. We found there were debris on the sliding wheels which we were able to remove with a cotton wad. Of course customer service was great when we were ordering. They said they would give use good deal for large order and match any comparable quotes. Once you order, its hard to get refund and they are not as responsive. They never call back when they said they would. You have to call again or go to the store. The assistant manager (Brian) said to me that "if you are trying to get discount, thats not going to happen" when we tell him the our issue with the large price difference with Home depot. We don't mind paying fair prices, but double the price, we feel like we were getting ripped off. Lucky we were able to return these because of their mistake. We were thinking of doing our windows with them before this, but not anymore after this experience.

Quick estimate, quick and professional repair.

My gardener kicked up some rocks while weed whacking our backyard, which unfortunately hit our dual pane sliding glass door. I decided to go with Southgate Glass because when I called Werner and Bros company, they said they replace windows only if I had bought the door from them originally, but would highly recommend Southgate Glass. Since their Angie's List rating was so high and I got a recommendation from another company, I was sold. The company was very professional, came out that morning to do the estimate, called me promptly with the quote, and offered me their current sale rate. I thought it was a very fair price and scheduled an installation date for a couple of days later, which was convenient for my own schedule. The installer arrived promptly and got the job done quickly. He cleaned up all of the broken glass and cleaned the outside of my sliding glass doors, even the one he didn't replace! I would definitely use Southgate Glass again for any broken windows!

Fine. I drove over with the windows and they fitted it; I only had to wait 15 minutes or so. Not many places sell glass over 36" but they do. The guy forgot to tack it into the frame which is why quality was listed as a B but that's not really that big a deal.

They did a super job and their products are excellent. They were very courteous and punctual and I would definitely use them again and highly recommend to anyone.

This firm was recommended by Halls to handle two odd shaped windows that Halls/Anderson told us were difficult or prohibitively expensive to replace. Estimator showed up on time and was friendly and knowledgeable. He wrote order for $2000 for work. Company was occasionally flaky with measuring appointments and subsequent contacts. Very shortly before installation, representative form the Co called and told us the job would be $500 more as the estimator has made mistakes with calculating the frames required; I declined to pay any more than estimate. Installers came on time, worked continuously, were polite and professional. Job initially specified vinyl frames but they made wood frames of better quality and design than proposed vinyl. Excellent quality work and excellent quality windows. In fact, product received was maybe better quality and type of material than what was initially promised.

The job went great, and they were very professional. I don't usually go with lowest bid, but the crew took 3 days and did a great job.

From my first contact with them it was positive. Larry did the estimating and was professional and explained well what we wanted to know. Chuck, who installed, in both homes was on time. He did outstanding work and jobs were finished ahead of schedule. If I was to do again I would request Chuck and his helper Aristio.
