Hair Salons/Barbers
Awful. The girl was very lovely, but that is where the good in this review stops. My hair is naturally a light brown, and it had been dyed an auburn shade with a semi-permanent dye months prior that was really fading, so I went in to see if she could get my hair lengths close to the color of my roots as I had been working on growing my hair out for 2.5 years. She said this was no problem at all and went to work. She covered my head in bleach/developer for upwards of 45 minutes and it started to burn and itch, she then proceeded to check to see if my hair was stretching "because that's how you can tell if it is getting damaged"... Well please stop the process before it gets to that point? Anyways I did not know why she was bleaching my roots as they were virgin and the color I was going for, but I don't do hair so I allowed it. Then she washes the bleach out with shampoo, does NOT condition my hair, brushes it out and blow dries it. After that I can tell it is really poofy but I let her know that my hair does not do well if it is not conditioned. Then she adds on the dye, another hour passes and we rinse that out and she shampoos and conditions my hair, when we get back to the chair there are three huge yellow spots where she did not apply the dye - but of course it was my hair's fault not hers. So she dries those three spots with the hairdryer like two inches from my head (HOT HOT HOT) and slaps on some kind of dye but for some reason this dye only needed to sit for 5-10 minutes.. and we rinse again, and again no conditioner. Then she asks if I want a cut, I say a little trim to take off the dead ends, and then she suggests layers to *** volume - I did not have layers but I said maybe a few would be okay. Then she cuts my hair and we are done, she does not dry or style my hair - she claims that this is an extra charge for her to dry my hair (even though with wet hair my hair could be any color and any cut and look the same). I get to the checkout and she says it is $150. I was thankful I did not have her dry my hair as $150 for the service I got is ridiculous. I went home, ate dinner and went to bed. I wake up the next morning early for work as I am a nurse, and brush my hair out and straighten it - the color is hideous, but that can be fixed. My scalp is burning so bad in several different spots and I know that this was a chemical burn from the bleach as a day later a few spots peeled. I didn't like the cut, it was inches shorter than what I wanted but I thought "whatever" and went to work. My first patient of the day stops me and says "honey, do you have kids?" I do not. "Honey, it looks like someone took scissors to the back of your head and cut a chunk of your hair out". I hadn't seen the back of my head yet. I go into the bathroom and use my phone as a second mirror and start crying - I just spent $150 on something a 5 year old could have done for free. Then I call the salon and the girl knows exaclty who I am , she didn't do my hair but she saw it being done and claims she "knew she messed it up"...but didn't say anything, then, I am told the manager will call me that weekend. The weekend passes and I hear nothing. I call monday and am assured that I will get a call by Tuesday at the latest, no call. I call wednesday and speak to the "manager" who states she isn't really the manager, and they don't do refunds but she can "fix" it for me but she needs to see it first. I am very busy and ask her to please relay my message to whoever makes the decision on whether I get a refund, and I made time to stop in there to show her my hair so that she knew I was not exaggerating. Well, she tells me she can "easily slap some other color on there and blend these", but she says she does not see any "chunks" anywhere, and then questions me about the chemical burns - well honey it has been 6 days since I had my hair done, they are gone. It is really weird that this lady says it will be no problem fixing my hair, I have been to 4 other salons to see what they would say (and I did not tell them I got a bad hair style and all of this I just literally went in to see what they would say) and ALL 4 DIFFERENT SALONS said that there is no way to fix this, the color is fixable, but the hair will need to be cut off because if they try to blend it it will become too thin and almost mullet-like. Oh, and the manager told me that they never charge extra to dry and style someone's hair if they bough a cut and color... so I deserve at least a portion of a refund as I left with wet rat hair. And for the record, had she dried my hair and I saw the disaster it was I would have refused to pay, and I would have never tipped.
