Very good service. The installer completed the installation of the new water heater under two hours. He made sure that resulting air in the pipes was removed by having us turn on and off the faucets approximately 30 times.

We ran into a couple of snags, but an overall good experience.We bought the $799 energy efficient water heater coupon to do this job, but it turned out that the garage configuration could only support a standard water heater. The energy efficient water heater model needed to be 10 to 15 feet away from the washing machines in the garage. In addition to replacing the water heater, I wanted to replace the original water heater platform since it was now a soggy mess of two-by-fours due to the slow leak. Fast Water Heater also recommended some other changes to bring the water heater setup up to code (e.g., add a pan, change out the natural gas valve). The work was efficiently completed and everything looks good. In total, I spent about $1300 including the original coupon.

Bad. I hired them to inspect anode rod. The person who showed up didn't bring a ladder (not sure who doesn't bring a ladder to service a hot water heater, but that's just me). I offered to go get mine from three flights up, but he put his hand up on the top and declared that I had a permanent one, pointing to the copper grounding wire wrapped around the pipes. He did empty the tank. After he left, I consulted the water heater manual and found he wasn't feeling in the right place for the anode and a quick google search of what a permanent anode looks like. Spoiler alert: it doesn't look like copper wiring. Since I found out from reading the manual, my anode doesn't need to be changed for 10 years, I didn't complain, and he did flush the tank for me. But I think it's terrible that they would make up a story or clearly not know the difference between grounding wire and a permanent anode.

Terrible! I am going to request a full refund. The ad is extremely misleading. When I called them to schedule the installation, they told me that they couldn't install the water heater within 15 ft of the washer and dryer. They are all in the garage - not next to each other, but within that radius. It would be $200 more for the water heater since you couldn't get the rebate. Then he said the permit and taxes were extra. The total cost for this service is going to be $600-800 more, basically twice what the Angie's list deal supposedly is for.

Called on Monday, plumber did the work on Tuesday. Plumber arrived on site, reviewed installation with me over the phone, precisely defined the problems and the solutions, provided a complete quote for the work. Installation took one day.

The installer showed up almost at the end of the window and told me he couldn't install because there was only one installer and this was a two person job. He then asked to see the installation and give me a written estimate. The estimate he gave me was $1000. higher than the estimate I was given over the phone. I explained that was not even close to what I had been quoted over the phone and told the installer I would more than likely have to cancel the job - which I did.

"We wish we could attach photos that we took of this customer's existing water heater, but this customer had a vent system that is not suitable for a 75 gallon water heater. Her vent system is for a 50 gallon water heater. It is a both a potential CO (carbon monoxide) leak problem and a potential fire hazard. The additional cost was due to the venting setup (not the water heater) and the fact that she needs a pan and a drain line to the exterior. We will not install a water heater with improper venting. It's a serious safety hazard that 10k people die of in the U.S. each year (CO leaks in the home due to water heaters and HVAC equipment). We can install the water heater if we fix the vent problem. But, we would rather lose the business than compromise your safety. If you find someone to install it without replacing the vent, they are not actually doing you a favor. Best of luck."
