Response from Fast Water Heater Company
If you still have not received the permit, please call our office and ask for the permitting department. Depending on your jurisdiction, the city can take a while to get the permit back to us as they all do it differently (some are online but many are still fax, some want a mail in application and some want us to send a warm body to their office). Generally it will take four weeks because we have them send the permit to us first, we keep a copy of it and then we send it to you in the mail with instructions on how to get your water heater inspected. Once you receive it you typically have four to six months to get your water heater inspected. We recommend you do it right away. If you still have not received it, please contact us because it may be an issue with us having an improper jurisdiction (sometimes you are county instead of city and we miss it). Thank you!

Description of Work: This is a great company, but I had a hard time factoring in all the details of the "Big Deal," so it was more money than I had anticipated. I don't blame the company, but the "Angie's List" marketing team can make a "Big Deal" seem bigger than it may actually be, which is why I have been tardy in this review. Water Heaters are tricky - capacity varies and gas line connections may need to be replaced to bring it up to your city's current code.

Description of Work: On 5/24/14, I purchased the Angie's Deal offered by Fast Water Heater Company ($799 for water heater and installation). I listed three dates that I was available to be home for the installation. Fast Water Heater called me the next day and scheduled for 5/30. I spoke on the phone with Jake, who asked me the size of my current water heater (65 gals) and said that all they had in stock was an 80-gal water heater. I said that was fine and told him that there was a flight of stairs to access the water heater closet. |However, when Robert showed up on 5/30, he said that he didn't know there were stairs, and that two people were needed to take out the old heater and install the new one. He called his office and rescheduled the installation for Sunday June 1st. Robert also said that a 50 gal electric water heater was available. He was very helpful. Robert and another man did come back on 6/1. They were here about an hour, and were polite and professional. |However the total cost was $1144 as I had to pay $99 for the second man, $140 for a permit, $57 tax and $49 for pipe to the drip pan (to be fair, these charges had been explained to me on the phone by Jake). |I'm happy with the new water heater, but it did cost more and take longer to get installed than I thought it would. But I know that is often the case with work on one's home. Overall I am satisfied and would use Fast Water Heater Co again.
