Zimmerman Electric Company

For starters, a human answered when I first contacted them. That seems unusual these days. We were able to set up a near term service call with a narrow (2 hour) time window. The tech showed up on time. Based on a prior visit, he provided good guidance on the new fixtures we needed to purchase. He was very efficient in getting them installed.

1. The repair man came in on time. 
2. Quickly located the fuse which was in the bedroom used as an office
3. The fuse holder was bent there was not making any connection.

He readjusted the holder replaced the fuse.
All within a space of ten minutes.
Also showed me how to do the simple procedure.

We called Zimmerman Electric on a Sunday night, and John Zimmerman answered the phone himself.  He was extremely pleasant and helpful, and said someone would be out the next day between 9 and 11 AM.  John called on Monday morning, and said the worker would be delayed, but would arrive between 11 AM and 1 PM.  The electrician Dave arrived during that interval, and quickly found the problem and fixed it.  He was honest and said that the wall unit didn't need to be replaced.  We would definitely call Zimmerman again, and refer him to our friends and neighbors.

John returned my call immediately and was available in a couple of days. I gave him the code to get into my condo because I was unavailable. He did the work, called me right away to report on it, locked everything up and left no trace. The fan works perfectly now.

I have used Zimmerman Electric a few times, now, and they are the only guys I call for any electrical needs.  They come out usually the same day, or at least the next day, after I call.  Their pricing is very reasonable, and the guys work very efficiently.  THe last time I used them, I had a list of five things to be done, and the work was completed in a little more than an hour.  Every time I turned around, the electrician had finished one job and was on to the next.  They are good about carrying a lot of parts in their vehicles, to save time and get the job done in one session. 
I once questioned a bill and Zimmerman Electric responded immediately, providing me the detail to assure me they were correct.  I have had many jobs done by these guys and have paid a lot less than I expected.  They also clean up their work space and dispose of old parts. 
Once I had a problem that took them a few hours to track down, so the electrician called in a co-worker to help.  I listened as the more season professional taught the other one.  In the end I was only charged for the original electrician.  These guys are very fair and very decent, and I would not care to use anyone other than Zimmerman Electric for my electrical needs.

David, is the actual electrician. He is artistic, charismatic and skilled. No problem with him. John Zimmerman, the owner, is rude and charges too much. When I was on the phone with John, to review the bill, he was angry and hung up on me.  Sent me an invoice for labor and materials for $3049.99 with some vague summaries of the work performed.  No list of the materials I was paying for with that big fee.
I can't afford for David to come back.  I have to hire someone else.  I paid for materials; where are they?  I have the rest of the exhaust fan I paid for, I have the old electrical switches I already had for years, in a box. Where are the Trim Kits for the can lights David installed?  Where are the sockets for the Jacuzzi tub?  I already had one main line to the tub and David installed a second one for the tub heater.  What I have now are two silver metal rectangular boxes and no plugs. Before the owner, John, hung up on me when I simply wanted to review the bill, I was going to ask him for a list of materials that was included in that bill.  At the time, he said that the materials were $736.56. Don't I deserve a list of what those materials were and don't I deserve to have the materials I'm paying for, be left at my house? Should an exhaust fan and the guts of 6 can lights, 3 bare light boxes and 2 new plug boxes (all without the final sockets/trim, etc)  cost $736.56.?!
I will never use Zimmerman Electric again. It's a shame because David, the worker-bee is very good.

They were easy to contact, came out right away, took care of the problem immediately, and their price was fair.

Some type of problem in our home tripped a circuit breaker that could not be reset.  We called Zimmerman Electric, who had provided service to us previously.  They came out the next day and installed a new circuit breaker.  We also had  them install GFIs in two bathrooms that were on the same circuit that had tripped.  They are friendly and do great work.  We have used them before, as I said, and will certainly use them again!

I discovered on Thursday night that numerous lights and plugs didn't work.  I left a message with Zimmerman Electric to call first thing Friday morning.  John Zimmerman called just after 8am Friday, and sent Daniel to investigate the problem.  It took Daniel less than an hour to diagnose and solve the problem, which was in the crawl space under the house.  I greatly appreciated the prompt resolution of the issue.  I plan to keep using them.

Overall we think these guys are fabulous, although they could use a bit of help with their paperwork.  They are on time, professional, friendly, reasonably priced and really good at trouble shooting.  They also seem to do thorough and safe work, with overall safety of the end wiring result being their priority, while still working efficiently and not wasting any time.  Our only (minor) criticism is their office paperwork is disorganized (John actually needs the "receptionist" he sometimes claims he has, but doesn't!!!), so bills are late in coming.  But we highly recommend them to anyone looking for an electrician or electrical company to do anything from installing a ceiling fan or light on up to rewiring an entire building.

The electrician was a man of few words...never providing me with any kind of estimate beforehand. But he was very efficient. Found the problem quickly and fixed it. He was here only about 40 minutes. When he left, he told me they would send me a bill. I had to ask him how much that bill might be for and he told me it would be about $100. I then asked him to replace the other GFI outlet, so I am assuming the final bill will be somewhere around $200. I hope he was right! Overall I was pleased with the service, but would have preferred to have a wee bit more info about the costs beforehand. I don't even know the guy's name as he did not introduce himself.

Representative was on time, neat, professional, and very good at what he does. He explained everything and answered all questions.
