Description of Work: I left a message and The owner called me right back - and followed up two days later to check to see if I was coming to drop off my DVD player. This was a nightmare. The TV was purchased by my sister-in-law at Costco over 2 1/2 years ago. She had problems with this TV before; however, the warranty expired in August '09. I called Mitsubishi and asked what the problem was and they said the lamp. I then called Coloma repair to get a house call because this is a large TV. He came out and hour late. After taking out the lamp, he realized that he forgot the replacement all the way across town and we would have to reschedule. He wrote up an invoice for $345. $220 for the lamp $55 for house call, and the rest for diagnostic. Ridiculous. He knew that we might get reimbursed for the services, so he jacked the price up. Well. it turns out we are not getting reimbursed but the company agreed to send a replacement lamp for free. So I called Peter back and told him I was sorry for the inconvenience, I no longer needed his services, and I would be installing the lamp myself in order to save money. I said for his trouble, I would send him a check for $55 for making the house call, but not for the diagnostic as stated in his invoice. He said that he would not charge me for the lamp, but would come out and finish the job for $100+ dollars. He argued that he was owed for diagnostics even though I told him I had already diagnosed the problem with the company before he even came out here. He insisted that he come out and fix it because he is owed for technical labor. I apologized again and said I didn't need his services and that I'd send him a check. He resigned and said that if I have any questions on the installation, "Don't call me. I will not help you." I talked to a number of people who said that $345 is a ridiculous price for this kind of fix. Peter even acknowledged when I called him back the second time that he spoke with Mitsubishi and the lamp went down $40. How convenient!! I did not like the fact that he was over an hour late. And I didn't appreciate the fact that he tried to weasel his way back in order to make a quick buck on an unsuspecting customer. Very shady. I realize that his line of work is hard, and he's trying to make a living, but I don't like being ripped off.

We watched a movie, and all was well, later when we wanted to watch T.V. the colors were green and purple and there was a distorted line across the top of the screen. I looked up Angie's List and found this company listed. Since they were close, I called, and he said that he would be out 4:30 that afternoon. I was so surprised because I was expecting to be told some day the following week. Later around 3 he called me back to say that he was going to be delayed, but could be here at 6 and wanted to apologize for not keeping the 4:30 appointment and wanted to know if 6 would be ok. Of course that would be fine. He showed up at 6 and went right to work. He was very pleasant and professional. It wasn't long before he had the problem diagnosed and was removing a tray from the bottom of the T.V. He said that he had to take it back to the shop to do the repairs, since it was a very delicate process and he had to use mirrors to do it correctly. No problem. He put the set back in place and even helped me set up another portable T.V. for that evenings viewing. He said that he would be back the next morning (Saturday) at 9 a.m. He was here even before 9 and started right in replacing the tray. He put the set back together and back in place, and made a few adjustments on the T.V. and unhooked the portable T.V. and put it back into the other room. I am so impressed. Will call him again if I ever have another problem and would recommend him to anyone.

I highly recommend them because they did a great job and the price was completely reasonable. The price listed included the part that was needed, too. When they got the part, they came to my house and fixed it around 7pm. They were very courteous.
Description of Work: My television was not working because it had a problem with the color tubes. I had to wait a couple of days because they had to order the part and then they fixed it in my house really fast.

It went well. We did not want to take the TV into a shop since it weighs about 200 pounds. We called Peter and he agreed to come by on a Saturday. He showed up very close to the time he said he would. I had to help him turn and support the TV while he took the back off. He diagnosed the problem and gave us an estimate for the replacement. He tried to get a new part from Panasonic, but only could get a refurbished unit from an after market supplier. He called to say the part had come in and came by in the evening the next night. Changing it out went well but he and I almost dropped the TV. Stopped it in time. Hard to juggle 200 pounds. Final cost was right at the estimate. He did have to stop by one more time to focus the unit and did so without an extra charge.
Description of Work: The power supply on our 36'' tube TV was going out. It was about four years old and fits the cabinet closely and we did not want to replace the whole TV. A new power supply board had to be installed. Peter came to our house twice to repair it. The first trip was to see what was wrong. The second trip was to install the new part after he received it at his shop.

I consulted Angie's List and selected Coloma TV and Repair. The owner called within two days later with the repairs and estimates. Work was completed within a week. Work was reasonably priced.
Description of Work: Diagnostic and repair on Daewoo TV and an Emerson-All-In-One stereo system. The Daewoo TV would shut off by itself after two hours and the CD player portion of the Emerson stereo would skip when playing CDs. A part was replaced on the TV and now works fine. A cleaning and maintenance was performed on CD player, but CD's still skip when played. So it's the laser reader that needs repair and would not be worth to repair since it would cost more than the Emerson stereo.

EXCELLENT SERVICE. THE COMPANY WAS A DISTANCE FROM HOME. HE WAS VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE AND SUGGESTED A POSSIBLE PROBLEM. BEFORE I WAS HOME, HE HAD CALLED WITH THE PRICE TO REPAIR AND HAD IT READY THE NEXT DAY BY 11 AM. MAY WANT TO CALL FIRST, WHEN I LEFT HE LOCKED UP AND WENT TO LUNCH. COULDN'T HAVE BEEN GONE TOO LONG AS HE HAD THE ESTIMATE BEFORE I WAS HOME.

I think except for the receiver's cost being higher by $100.00, overall we were pleased with the service provided. It was very professional experience.
Description of Work: Repaired color conversion circuit in TV. The estimate was for $370.00 which was close to actual amount. He was prompt and knows his business. We also had him repair our receiver, which again he knew what the problem was and is very knowledgeable with the equipment. The cost was more than he had estimated. The estimate was $140.00 and the actual cost ended up being $242.66, which was more than we expected.

This is a small business and they charge a reasonable price. They also guarantee their work and called right back to give us a quote after checking out the TV to diagnose. They also called as soon as it was done and it was all done in a timely manner. When my husband went to pick it up, the repairman demonstrated that it worked instead of just giving us his word. He even brought the parts back to show what he'd taken out. Very thorough and professional.
Description of Work: They recently repaired our daughter's DVD player, replacing a part plus labor- a huge difference from what we were quoted by a major retailer. They repaired our TV in the past. We thought about buying a new TV at the time, but he told us, "They don't make them this good any more." That was about $350, less than the cost of a new tube.
