An excellent experience. From the initial inspection and quote to the materials delivery, roof deck and facia repairs and roof installation and final cleanup. Communication is maintained throughout and all my concerns are addressed. The crews are friendly and professional. The office is attentive to address any issues. My expectations were met and exceeded. Four roofs for me and my extended family.

The entire process was smooth. I loved Eric the sales rep. He went over everything in detail and even gave me a senior discount without me asking. Martin the job foreman was informative and kept me up to date with everything that was going on. I had a sky tunnel installed in the “dungeon “ room and it is now my office. The tunnel has a light softening cover Which I love. I’ve seen tunnels which were too bright. This cover looks like a regular ceiling light. Very pleasant. I will recommend their services!

He found the leak right away and fixed it (probably). It's not rained since but I'm confident it is fixed. He also went and checked other vents and caulked them. I appreciated that he looked around the roof area and checked for other possible problems.

A driver had lost control of his car and end up in my house. He ended up on my front porch. We had no idea why they couldn't stop the car, it looked like some kind of race. I had them come over and do the repair work on the gutters and roof. My neighbors used them and got a new roof. They're a good group, I'd vouch for them. If my roof had to be done totally they would do it and they would be in the top two companies to get estimates. The insurance company paid for that. It was great, they were nice.

So for a roof warrantied only one year by Call-Vintage Roofing, I got 25 square feet done in 7 man hours of labor plus needless expense of solar panel removal and replacement.
Description of Work
My flat roof had a leak. They told me I had to have solar panels removed. At $1,000 expense that was done. Roofer worked by himself for 5 hours then another roofer came and they finished one hour later. So for six hours of labor and materials for 25 square feet repair, the price was $4,600! Solar panel man returned and put them back in original location. He said they hadn't needed removing to begin with.

Once, the project started it only took about 5 days for completion. Still waiting on some items for the chimney area but otherwise it's done. Took a little over a month to start and due to the weather the date got pushed out two weeks, no big deal. The crew was very courteous and professional. My neighbors even commented on how they seemed to know what they were doing. Tony did an awesome job, the roof looks great.

The workmen were very professional, but the projected dragged on and on due to administrative problems with securing permit approvals. The cost of the project increased as additional issues were addressed. The company was very apologetic about the delays but it was not a pleasant process.

Not well. They changed my start date four times, lied to me about working on Saturdays and did not do things as promised. On top of that Nelson Bajas the field superintendent told me on the second day there would be two to four extra hours of labor added for the unseen dry rot. The final bill was for 26 hours of extra labor at a whopping $2204 more than the original price. I was shocked.

Unfortunately, your project had to be rescheduled several times due to the rain which is beyond our control. We had a completion date (6/19/17) scheduled for your job, but we were unable to keep that due to the large amount of dry rot that was found. Valerie indicated that our roofers are not required to work Saturdays and if they do, it is only half a day. And they were not scheduled to work Saturday on your project. Martin gave you a quote of approximately 20-22 hours of dry rot work(only able to assess after the roof was torn off). He later informed you that it took 2-4 hours more than we approximated. For the last 14 years, we have installed hundreds of roofs in the greater Sacramento area and have received an outstanding reputation in the roofing industry. Our family business was built on traditional values, honesty, and integrity. We want all of our customers to receive quality work, fair/competitive prices, the highest level of customer service and a positive experience.

Called because I thought they had a good reputation. Worst experience I have had with a contractor, and that is saying a lot. Unresponsive, unprofessional, took over two weeks to get an estimate and then they had to come back again to re-estimate...all for a basic repair. And then comes the best part. After setting up a time to get paperwork started I'm contacted by the estimator who said that after consulting with ownership (who I never actually heard from) they're not the contractor for the job. Wasted over 1 month of my time during the rainy season, so I responded to let them know that I would be leaving an honest review with the BBB. The estimator then called me until I picked up. Big mistake. Was greeted by F bombs, four letter words, and threats. Neither Cal Vintage management nor ownership ever called to offer an explanation or apology, so you can ignore whatever response they have to this review.

After a bullet when through our roof on new year eve, I have been calling roofers for months and never got a call back from the other guys. I called Cal-Vintage and my call was returned the same day and Joel came out a few days later and was able to fix my roof on the spot with no charge! You don't find honest people this around. If you need roof work call Cal-Vintage!

I know he is honest and they are really good. I wouldn't have anyone else do the work. They're excellent. I would recommend them to everybody. They have been on the honor roll multiple times and they deserve to be on there. He gave a 10 percent discount. The price was excellent. He has done work for me before. They are always on time or early.

After first contact with the office, the estimator was supposed to call but did not. We contacted the office again and were given the estimator's cell phone number. We left messages for him that were not returned; finally got hold of him on our 3rd try. He gave us a date for an estimate which was about when another contractor could actually do the job. We would not have tried so hard but this company was highly recommended by a friend. We chose another contractor.

This may have been due to the nature of building repair businesses during month-long periods of heavy rain, so take my experience with a grain of salt: It took us 27 days from requesting an estimate to receiving that estimate, after I had sent multiple emails and phone calls. Eventually I determined it was better to call them directly and go through the rigmarole of the telephone system than to email -- at least calling got a direct response. Some emails I sent went unresponded to for a week. It took 11 more days to receive the estimate, during which time I had sent a few emails asking and prodding for the estimate. This was near the point I started exclusively calling instead of emailing. For the record, everyone on the phone was polite and helpful and I never felt like I was being sloughed away to some other long line. We received the estimate. The estimate was pretty clear about what they thought the problem was, and what it would take to fix our leak. I felt very confident about the knowledge exhibited in the estimate, and it made sense. Three days later, I sent it back signed. 16 days after signing the contract they came out to get the work done -- but not before I had called multiple times, and politely informed them that they were past the approximate starting date range (7-10 days, weather permitting) according to the contract we signed for the labor. Once this had occurred, we were booked almost immediately. The actual repairs were painless, and in the last month and a half have had multiple weather-induced opportunities to present flaws -- and haven't. Cal-Vintage's repairs are apparently very well done, and our house hasn't had a leak since the repair. I chalk some of this up to the inclement weather of late 2016 to early 2017, but Cal-Vintage really need to work on their communication skills -- the worst part about this leak was dealing with the frustration of wondering if anything else was going to be damaged in the almost-two month period we had to wait for the repairs. They could have done something as simple as letting us know they were too busy and booked to really take care of our needs in a timely fashion and to wish us luck with one of their competitors -- or they could have just given us any sort of time-table at all. A simple phone call or email update letting us know *when* they would be following up with more information would be better than the silence we received. With very few exceptions, I was always initiating questions about if/when/how the repairs were going to take place. I had to call over and over to get a response. It was frustrating. I was essentially begging them to look at our house, fix our roof, take our money, or tell us they had too much on their plate to handle us and that we were better off going somewhere else. Communication is key and it felt like a one-sided conversation up until I had told them that they were ostensibly late for fulfilling our signed estimate. I'm making this sound like a total drag -- and the truth is I'm not sure anybody outside of the 2016-2017 winter season would have experienced the abysmal customer service experience that I did. The reason I'm rating them a C overall is because I really do think they could have done better during this stormy season -- even a phone call or email letting me know that scheduling my estimate would be delayed, or the repairs would be delayed, or anything at all would have been nice. Yes, they were probably making a killing with the big business who had big expensive repairs, and the myriad of anxious home-owners asking for help -- but their inexpedient communication is, honestly, inexcusable. I'm a tentative "yes" for hiring them again if we had another issue, because their workmanship appears to be very well done, but I can't say I'm necessarily looking forward to it.

We signed with Cal-Vintage to replace our roof with stone-coated steel back in Sept 2016. The first time we were rescheduled, they called & let us know. Then our start date came, and no one showed. We called & they let us know they had rescheduled us. Again, the date came, and no one showed. Again, no communication what so ever. A week later they called to check in on us. Not happy. It has been a rainy winter and after being rescheduled multiple times, we all agreed to reschedule in April. One thing we stressed was when pushing out even further, that we didn't want to be then put in the back of the line. Despite having made that clear to Brent, we got a call (at least they called), to let us know we were delayed and there were jobs ahead of us. We have emailed them, and still, no reply. So either they are 6 months behind in work, or they really don't want our business. I'm baffled. Either way, our experience with commutation has been pretty poor.

We need about 3-4 weeks of dry weather with no threat of rain to complete your reroof. Sacramento experienced the worse rainstorms in 5 years and it caused massive chaos for every roofing company. We were overwhelmed and it was difficult to accommodate customers. We have since changed that and already have seen improvements. I am very sorry if Brent did not explain these circumstances to you. We are always looking for ways to improve our service and your feedback is an invaluable part of that process. At Cal-Vintage it's all about our customers. Disappointed, move on to another contractor.
Description of Work
I called their office twice with still no returned call 10 days later. Called a third time and was given Kevin's cell, left a message with still no returned call. Needless to say, I called another roofer that came out the same day. If you're that busy, just let the callers know. A simple courtesy goes a long way. If I can't count on Cal-Vintage to return a simple 5 min call, why would I trust you with my roof?
