Response from Brown's Heating & Air Conditioning

"I apologize for the poor service you received. I was unable to find any record that we did any work for you. Are you positive that we are the company that you had out? If so did we ever show up and do the work or was the work done at a different address under a different name? I would like to ensure that this doesnt happen again as this is not the way we conduct business normally so I would like to make sure that whatever the issue was that we are able to remedy it in the future. If you would please call us at 559-784-5628 so that we can see if there is any way to make up for the poor service you received I would greatly appreciate it. Ryan Knutson Aire Serv Manager"

Gus, the technician, was polite and prompt, gave me details and choices, and patched the unit together, so to speak, until it could be replaced. It worked that long. Then the bid for a  new unit, arrangements for payment and order/delivery went smoothly with the company. The new unit was installed --again on a VERY hot two days--with installation starting a day sooner than expected. Very polite, competent people, great service!

They did a fine job and got the unit working again.  It took them about an hour and they were very professional.  The price also included an annual service, which is nice.  I'd recommend them and use them again!

My first appointment was made to service my air conditioners in two days.  However, it was canceled by the company when a heat wave hit the area and some other customers' air conditioners had gone out.  My appointment was rescheduled for the following week and kept.  I was okay with the cancelation though.  If one of my units had gone out during the heat wave I would have hoped to have had it fixed as soon as possible, too.

Everything went well.  They showed on time, got the job done in less than four hours, and made scheduling rather easy.

I recieved a coupon from Home Depot for an A/C tune-up "special" for $50. After registering online the first available time was two weeks away. No problem it really isn't hot yet where I live.  The technician from a contracted out A/C and heating company shows up on a Friday at 5:45 p.m. (granted the time frame was 4:00-6:00pm).  He starts testing my system and says there isn't any refrigerant in my system and that it would cost $600 to just test where the leaks are.  Then if anything needed repaired/replaced the cost would go up, and then there is the charging of my system with new refrigerant at $67/pound and I need 12#. The technician said that he would contact the office the first thing in the morning so that we could schedule an appointment (the office was closed at the time of discussion).  I waited all day Saturday for a phone call...zilch.  Monday morning I get on Angies list and find good ratings for Aire Serv A/C and Heating.  I call and speak with Elaine, a very nice woman.  I explain that I need to have my system's leaks found and fixed.  She takes my number and says she will call back with options for scheduling.  In about five minutes she calls back and says how about 3:00 pm today.  Perfect.
Gus the service technician from Aire Serv shows up at 3:03 pm.  Within fifteen minutes he says he is pretty sure he knows where the leaks are and even requests to show me where he thinks they are.  Unfortunately a bad evap coil and king valve.  He also pointed out the cheaper solder that was used on the fittings and that these are known for leaking.  Aw shucks. So I pay the $130 for his testing services. Gus, a very respectful and professional gentleman said he could get a quote for me in the morning.  I agree.  At 7:25 am Gus has a quote for me.  He was able to use some of the initial charge for the  testing ($130) toward the service offered to check for discounts for finding Aire Serv on Angies List and gave me a quote to the penny for all parts and labor.  I said ok. He said he just need to order the parts and would schedule as soon as possible.  That afternoon Elaine calls me and schedule for the next day at 0900.  Gus shows up at 0845 ready to go.  He spends the better part of 7 hours doing the job.  After picking up the drop cloth he always laid down and cleaning his hand prints off the entrance to the attic (where the coil is), Gus insisted on showing me what he had done.  He gave descriptive details on the work he did, including re-doing fittings with a top grade solder that was meant for A/C systems and the clean wrapping of the new hoses/tubing.  He finished up and thanked me for allowing him to do the job and left at 5:15 pm.
So I guess what I am trying to say is that my experience with AIre Serv was top notch.  Everyone was professional, and quick with response time.  I will definitely use them in the future. Rock on Gus. Oh and by the way, the Home Depot contacted company called me on Tuesday (not Saturday) and left a message to schedule the leak test for $600.  I didn't return their call.

Our furnace had gone out over the holiday while we were out.  We called Saturday evening and they were at our door first thing Sunday morning. | |The technician was able to identify the issue as being caused by a faulty ignition module.  We really appreciated the fact that he would manually start the furnace whenever he had to go down to get something or otherwise wasn't working on it giving us a little extra comfort on a very cold morning. | |He also cleaned up the igniter itself (pilot) and tested the rest of the system, letting us know that the blower motor capacitor was getting close to needing replacement. | |All in all, the service was prompt, he had the system working 100% in short order and was very courteous.  I'm giving price a B as others have as they seem to have a high mark-up on parts.  While I haven't priced out the exact part that was put in, it was close to twice the average price I've seen for other furnace ignition modules.  However, amount charged for labor seemed very fair and the special they are offering on their annual maintenance plan is great so it balances out.

We had an air conditioning and heating system replaced a couple of years ago.  When we started having problems again, we called the company (nameless!) and was basically ignored.  We were apprehensive about starting all over again with another company, but  Orval was very knowledgeable, gave us an estimate,  and completed the job in a professional manner.  He explained what he was doing as he worked, answered all questions and picked up and hauled away all debris.  He was courteous; placed floor coverings down while in and out of the house and always called to give us an arrival time.  He spent a total of 4 days working (about half of tha time was spent under the house and that didn't include the time he spent in his shop making the cold air return).  Our house is modular, so not only did he crawl around under the house with the spider webs and dead mice, he did so in 100 degree heat!

Technician was friendly and owner called me to ask me to check something before they sent someone out (could have saved me the money if that was the problem- which I appreciated).  The technician wore shoe covers in the house and was very polite and efficient.  The only blemish for this provider was they did not respond to an email request for the service on Sunday afternoon (when the problem started), I had to call in Monday morning to let them know my ac was not cooling and we had a small child at home.  I did not request emergency since we could go somewhere else for a few hours, but I do feel like they tried to get someone out quickly.  Also, they did honor the 10% Angie's list discount.

Very professional and prompt. The tech went above and beyond to make sure that all my concerns with both units were addressed.
