"Thank you so much for your kind review. We're pretty happy with Grayeagle and Jorge too. While it is always our intent for the work to happen as scheduled and planned, events to occur to change those plans. We appreciate your choosing us for your home improvement project. Jack Cooper"
"Thank you for choosing us for your Marvin project. In fact we were recently in Galt, CA at an advanced Marvin training class. Each year Marvin introduces upgrades to existing product lines as well as new products. It is incumbent we constantly learn about new products, new installation methods, and keep current with local building codes. We've learned we cannot just send anyone out to a project, let alone a project like yours. Our value to you is getting the work done right the first time. Thank you so much for trusting us with your home. Jack Cooper"
I did my research and then I went to their showroom, I was greeted by a very pleasant lady (Mari Jo). She showed me around and then we set an appointment. I was happy to see an email confirmation prior to the appointment with the salespersons name. When the salesman arrived (David) he listened to my needs and then answered all my questions, he was very knowledgeable. He gave a bid and I was pleasantly surprised with the value. He told me 4-5 weeks lead time and he was right, in 4 weeks I got a call to set up the installation. The installers were very courteous as they covered my new flooring. This was a big job with new construction installation so it took 3 days as David had advised me. When all the work was done I have to say it was Beautiful !!!!. Thank you to the team of Custom Exteriors. I would recommend this company to others
"Thank you sir for the comprehensive review. This was a challenging project, but with proper preparation and imput from the customer, we were able to bring this project to fruition on time as quoted. This reminds me how much our industry has become dependent upon communication via "sterile and precise" technology. Yet, real people come out to the home and perform the work. This project shows that people embrace technology, but work with people. Thank you so again for the kind words. Jack Cooper Custom Exteriors,Inc."
"Based on correspondence you and I exchanged via email in recent weeks, I appreciate the honest feedback. Kind regards, Jack Cooper Custom Exteriors, Inc Marketing"
"Hi [member name removed]. Thank you very much for your review. We are well aware of how many home improvment companies there are to consider for a home improvment project. Thank you for choosing us and letting all of Angie's customer's know how happy you are with our work. Regards, Jack Cooper Marketing and Business Development Custom Exteriors,Inc."
"Thank you for the update for a project completed 10 years ago. When prospective customer's ask if we've done work in the their area, the answer is almost always yes. We offer them a mix of new and older projects to review. The reason is simple, almost ever project looks good the first few months. The real indicator of a quality installation is to see how well it holds up over time. Thanks again for choosing us. Jack Cooper"
"Thank you [members name] for your review. It was a pleasure to work with a "prepared" homeowner who understood the intricacies of window replacement in association with an HOA with specfic requirements. You made our work and the overall project a breeze. Kind Regards, Jack Cooper Custom Exteriors, Inc."
Kevin and Tim performed the installation over 2 days, which consisted of removing the old steel framed windows and installing the new ones. I don't that was an easy task. There was no damage to the exterior or window areas during demo. They were very clean and were diligent to make sure that no glass was on the floor at the end of each day. They also installed our door. The door is hung perfectly and has that nice sound of a tight seal when it shuts.
They installed Anlin windows, which was not a brand I was familiar with at the time. They look great, very smooth sliding and no drafts.
"Thank you for choosing us as your home improvement contractor. As you pointed out, a big part of a home improvement project is the initial design and attention to detail. Managing a homeowner's expectation is no easy task, today more than ever thanks in part to social media and endless home improvement TV shows. It isn' t as easy as it looks. The Anlin window is easily the best vinyl replacement window available providing excellent performance for discerning homeowners throughout the state. Jack Cooper/Custom Exteriors, Inc."
Jeff, a co-owner, was very involved in all aspects of each job. I also liked the fact that he plays golf, is a father, home owner like me and is willing to get involved in all aspects of the job.
The work turned out great and the Anlin products that were installed made all three residences noticably more comfortable and quiet.
One tenant even told me last week their PG&E bill was cut in 1/2.
We will be using these guys again and I have told friends and family about them too.

"Jeff is " the man". Having one of the owners in the field everyday and the other owner Kevin in the office, together they set an example of how a successful home improvement company should operate. Once again, we really appreciate the opportunity to work with you one more time. Jack Cooper/Custom Exteriors,Inc/ Marketing and Business Development."
"Thank you for your kind words. This is a excellent example of a project that seemed fairly routine, but upon production was anything but. Unexpected surprises are now the new "normal" in our industry, generally not discovered until the project has begun. Quite often we are addressing the results of someone else's work. Our aim is customer satisfaction achieved in a fair and expeditious manner for everyone who chooses Custom Exteriors for their home improvement project. Thank you again for the opportunity to work with you. Jack Cooper Custom Exteriors, Inc. Marketing and Business Development"
(Cost of service noted above is per each job)
I own 2 separate residences. One in Walnut Creek, CA and the other in Copperopolis, CA. - In Walnut Creek we had 20 windows replaced . I found the salesperson very professional. The crew was on time, clean, professional and quick. No issues whatsoever.
Several months later I contracted again with them for the Copperopolis residence. There were 10 windows and 2 sliding glass doors replaced. Same salesperson and crew. Again, no issues. Quick, professional etc.
I would not hesitate to recommend or use them again. I also would highly recommend to anyone to get the new generation of windows. What an amazing difference in comfort, energy savings etc. (We bought the Anlin replacement windows and doors)
"Thank you so much for the positive feedback. You made a wise investment in choosing the Anlin window. In our opinion it is consistently the best replacement window on the market. Anlin offers a lifetime warranty; Custom Exteriors has a lifetime labor warranty to the original owner. You should enjoy many years of trouble-free performance and energy savings. Jack Cooper Custom Exteriors, Inc."
I originally placed 11/9/13 where I signed the paperwork I asked if the windows could be installed the two week in December since I will take time off. I am fine either way. I was told, yeah that should not be a problem. I was told after signed all the paperwork to call in mid-December and talk with Juan to verify the dates. He was the person who managed this and could tell me what to expect.
A few weeks later the owner came and took measurements of the windows. I think this was to ensure their measurements were correct and to ensure a smooth process. I told him that I wanted the windows installed the last two weeks in December since I am taking time off. Jeff said, yeah that shouldn?t be a problem and should happen. Call Juan in mid-December to verify.
About a week later, I got a call from the sales rep and from Jeff asking to talk with me. It turns out they made a mistake and the window they thought could be a retrofit, had to be new construction. Was I ok with it? After chatting about it, I said as long as we can still meet the installation dates I am fine since I am taking time off. Jeff said that shouldn?t be a problem and he remembered I took the time off.
Dec:20th: I called on December 20th and asked to speak with Juan. I asked, are we on track to install the windows the last week in December 30-January 3rd. He said yes, everything is looking good. He said we should talk again on December 30th to confirm in case anything changes. I said great.
Dec 30th: I chatted with Juan on December 30th at 9:37am. Juan confirmed that Customer Exteriors will get the shipment on Jan 2nd in the morning. They will show up at 9am on Thursday Jan 2 and the work should be done by January 3rd. We discuss making sure to finish the windows downstairs so I can have my alarm guy hook up everything on 1/3. HE says that shouldn?t be a problem. HE confirms they will arrive at 9:30am on Jan 2.
January 2nd:
? The installation day, 8:12am Jan 2 ? Juan calls leaves a message that the order didn?t arrive on the truck today. That they will drive out an get it from the manufacturer. I call him back and confirm that Customer Exteriors will drive out and get the order. He says they will arrive on 1/3 at 7am the job will take two days and they will work on Saturday to finish(Jan 4th)
? 1:50pm Jan 2- Get a call from Customer Exteriors saying they windows are not even done yet. That the manufacturer is still building them and he isn?t sure why they told me otherwise. Says that the soonest they can do it is on 1/11. He says he knows that I needed it this week, but they can finish all the work on 1/11 even though normally this is a two day job. I inquire about my door order and he says he doesn?t know anything about it, but that he will check into it and get back to me today. Also, he says that he will have Jeff call me when I ask about a discount.
? By 8:27pm that night, I don?t receive any calls from Custom Exteriors, so I send an email to Jeff and Juan asking about the situation.
January 3rd:
? Juan responds to my email and says he understands my frustrations and says that it was Anlin?s fault on the order being late. I ordered Anlin Windows.
? I emailed back Juan and asked for the Anlin rep?s name so I can inquire. He gives it to me.
? Around 2pm I chatted with the Anlin rep- Kathy and explain the situation. Kathy was awesome. She of course said, well I can?t talk about anything confidential and I said I understand. She confirms that it wasn?t Anlin?s fault and that in fact the shipment date of January 6 to Customer Exteriors hasn?t changed for over 3 weeks. And after my guessing when they submitted the work, it turned out they submitted the order to Anlin late. I told her how Customer Exteriors blamed them and she was very surprised. I let her know that Customer Exteriors never got back to me the prior day(The owner didn?t call). She said she would reach out to the owner and get back to me that day.
? Around 2:30pm, Kathy from Anlin called back. Said, she was sorry that she couldn?t get a hold of the owner either, but that Anlin cares very much about the customer and that they will make sure this is fixed and that I am happy.
? Around 4pm, the President of Anlin called me. I have to admit he spent the first 5 minutes defending Customer Exteriors(He should let Kathy talk more to the public, she is better). After he finished, I explained my point of view and then I think he got it. He said he will personally make sure this is done and done right. He will follow this order.
Jan 6th- The Owner from Customer exteriors, resurfaces and says he is sorry and wanted to confirm that the order for the windows will be installed on Jan 11th. I said yes
Jan 11th ? The day of the installation went well. They actually did show up, and did finish the job. Anlin even called to make sure they showed up.
My final recommendations, buy Anlin Windows! As for who you have install it, I can?t make any other recommendations
"We made every effort to obtain and install [member name] windows on time. Mistakes were made; on our part and with our vendor. We had no intention of misleading [member name], why would we? Our side of the story is nearly as long as [member name], but we understand Angie's List members do not care to read long explanations so we shall refrain. Kevin Gundry, one of the owner's of Custom Exteriors did reach out to [member name] in an earnest attempt to remedy this situation. As is his option, [member name] rebuffed our efforts to do so. As a show in good faith Custom Exteriors stained the new entry door at no cost to the homeowner. Most of us here at Custom Exteriors are homeowner's too, it's easy for us to understand [member name] frustrations when a project does not go as planned. Kevin was willing to offer other remedies, but that is no longer viable. We are very sorry [member name] is upset, but do hope he enjoys his Anlin windows and Thermatru door for many years of trouble-free service. He also has a lifetime warranty on the installation. If a time should arise, we will go above and beyond to ensure his service meets Angie's List expectations. Jack Cooper Marketing and Business Development Custom Exteriors, Inc."

"Hi (removed member name). Thank you for your "curious response". In checking our records, I see we visited you nearly 3 years ago to the day. Why even take the time to draft a response on Angie's List? You went with another company. The Custom Exteriors representative Paul who saw you is one of our best designers and is in fact, extremely thorough and knowledgeable. Why this and why now? Regards, Jack Cooper- Custom Exteriors, Marketing and Business Development"
"[member name removed], if you have any friends or nieghbors looking for windows or doors please send them our way. We have a new referral program that you would love. Kevin Gundry, Custom Exteriors"
2) Ryan and the installing crew. : Grayeagle estimated that ours would be a two day job due to the size of the two sliders we were replacing. Ryan's crew arrived promptly and were able to complete the entire job in one day. It was a long day as they were here from 9 AM to just past 6 PM. But as physically demanding as the installation process was, our home was left clean and neat when they were done. The product was superior to the vinyl windows and sliders that were there before. They even went out of their way to caulk above our windows around a half moon shaped window to help guarantee that no water might get in above one of the sliders. That was greatly appreciated. We had a minor glitch in that our two screens for the kitchen windows did not quite fit properly but the company was already in the process of replacing those without me having to call them.
I was greatly pleased with the service and product I received from the folks at Custom-Exterior. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone seeking to replace their windows.
"[member name removed], Thank you so very much for your kind words in the above review. One of the keys to a successful home-improvement projects is managing a homeowner's expectations. It appears we have and thank you once again for the opportunity to serve you. Regards, Jack Cooper/ Custom Exteriors, Inc./Marketing and Business Development."
"Thank you for taking the time to write your review [member name removed]. When you visit our showroom in Pleasanton, a photo of the owner's Jeff and Kevin that states " We want this to be the best home improvement you will ever have". It is the goal of every installation to meet this standard. From time to time we do fall short, but are committed to correcting and improving as we go. Thank you again for choosing Custom Exteriors for your home-improvement project. Regards, Jack Cooper/Custom Exteriors, Inc/ Marketing and Business Development."
"Hi [member name removed], I'm disappointed to learn about this appointment. San Francisco is a very complicated city to work with due to strict rules on window styles and materials. Add to that HOA rules relative to city requirements and that would speak to our project minimums. Addressing the key issue of no-showing, I will certainly look into this today. The salesman assigned to this is our very best, in fact, most of our best review's with Angie's List are due to him. If you would allow, I would be happy to discuss your project, in fact, even come to San Francisco myself to inspect. How can I make this right for you? Regards, Jack Cooper/Custom Exteriors, Inc/ Marketing and Business Development. Telephone 888-957-7800 extension 28 or [email protected]"
The windows were manufactured within three weeks, and the installers showed up promptly as scheduled. The demolition involved removing about 4 inches of stucco around each window, then prying out the old aluminum window frames. The job also included two cut-down openings, and two built-in openings. All of the preparation of the openings was done carefully and accurately. The five man crew worked two long days to complete their work, covering all the furniture and carpeting beforehand for dust control, and cleaning up everything at the end. I was completely satisfied with their workmanship. These guys took a lot of pride in what they did.
There was one unfortunate problem with the materials. The most expensive window - an 8 foot arched picture window - was damaged prior to installation. Can't be sure about how that happened, but I am certain it did not happen after the window arrived at my site. At any rate, the damage (a half-inch deep dent on the exterior) was not noticed before installation, and I also did not notice it on the final walk-through (it was dark out by that time.) The stucco guy showed it to me the next morning, before he began his part of the job. This took a few phone calls and emails to the company. After a field repair technician came out and looked at the damage, they decided it could not be repaired. At this point, Jeff (the Owner) got involved. He offered me my choice of a discount to accept the damaged window, or a no-cost replacement. I opted for the replacement, knowing this would add up to a six-week delay to re-manufacture the window frame. Jeff simply said "we'll fix it." I held back the 10% contingency payment to make sure I would still have their attention after a months time. The new window frame arrived in about five weeks, and a repair technician completed the replacement in about a half-day.
Although my job ran into a fairly serious problem, there was no argument, no discussion, and no apology necessary. The company simply accepted their responsibility and made it right. They performed exactly as agreed, and they were paid in full on the day the work was completed.
I would recommend this company, and I would hire them again in the future.
"(deleted member name), thank you very much for the kind words and the opportunity to work with you on your recent home improvement project. Jeff as President of Custom Exteriors, his personal mission statement of "doing the right thing" permeates our company culture. As you may already know, there is a lifetime warranty on the product as well as the installation labor. Should an incident occur please feel free to contact us so we may serve you again."
They did all the work in two days. I had some concerns about the door which they promptly dealt with and then stained/varnished. It is a gorgeous door. Again, all workers were very delightful.
