Owner called me back promptly, and talked me through my options for trimming my conifers. I was impressed that he explained exactly why he would not trim conifers when seasonal conditions are less than ideal - essentially, he was giving up on work in order to maintain a very high level of professionalism and integrity, as well as ultimately looking out for the health of the trees. I got the impression that he takes the quality of his work very seriously, and would seriously consider hiring him during the winter for season-appropriate trimming.

Plan to hire them at the end of the growing season in September to shape trees.

This is the third season in a row that I've hired Best Care Tree to trim our trees. John and his employees are THE best contractors I've worked with. They handled our trees promptly and with great care - AND everything looks great. John also helped me make a big decision on my favorite tree. I contacted John Colizzi of Best Care Tree Service based on his stellar reviews on Angie's List to arrange for an estimate to trim 7 trees of various sizes on my residential property. He promptly returned my message and I was further impressed with his phone manner and customer service skills in general. It was easy to set up a time for him to come by and walk through my yard. I found him to be very knowledgeable, attentive to my wishes/concerns and hired him on the spot. Phone calls ensued (always immediately returned) in order to work out a date best for my schedule. John, his tree guy Juan and crew member John arrived on time at 7 am and we all walked through the property together so John C. could convey/confirm what I wanted done. It was important for me to not impose on my neighbors and John and his crew honored my request to complete a tree bordering my neighbor's property & clean up their yard of fallen branches by 8:15am when my neighbor needed to leave for work and let their dogs out. I also changed my mind from the estimate day to much more extensively trim a large ficus tree and John was extremely reasonable in the necessary price adjustment. Although John originally was only going to be at the job site at the beginning, he returned after doing a nearby estimate and stayed the entire 4 hours. Several times during the morning he consulted with me for feedback/approval, including showing me the clean-up of my neighbor's yards. I also give 5 stars to Juan and crew member John who did an excellent job and never stopped working from the moment they arrived until 4 hours later when they left. They left my yard spotless and the trees looked fantastic. They take pride in their work and I will definitely use them in the future and would recommend them without hesitation.

531John and his crew showed up early, were incredibly polite and professional and efficient. They did a killer job and made sure that none of the work they were doing disturbed any of my neighbors. They protected my property and the neighbor's properties from falling branches from the huge trees they were trimming and did a very thorough cleanup afterwards. John is super knowledgeable about his work and you can tell he loves what he does. His advice on how to handle the trees on your property is spot on and the work they did left the trees beautiful and tremendously reduced any risk the trees might have posed in a storm.

John and his crew were fantastic! We have a VERY large ash tree in our front yard with four years of growth. John came out TWICE for a consultation and estimate. He is not the cheapest guy in town, but after the last trimming from another company where a large branch crashed through our roof, I was very happy with the process he described. He detailed what he and his crew would do to the tree, how they would protect the house, and answered any and all questions I threw his way. We touched base several times via phone before the trimming began (he always returned my calls right away), and on both days of trimming, he was there early preparing for his crew. It was a two-day job, and everything went perfectly! I will happily recommend John and his incredible crew to anyone, and look forward to working with him next time my tree needs a trim (before four years next time!).

My wife and I had an incredible experience with John Colizzi and his company at our Encino home. We had multiple trees that were in desperate need of attention and John was both honest, professional and his prices are very fair. His knowledge of trees and passion for what he does is why we hired him and have brought him back twice in the last year to tend to other trees on our property. In addition, his crew are incredibly well trained and professional as well. More than that, when a 200 year old OAK TREE on our property was suffering from a great deal of decay, John volunteered his time and made calls on our behalf to some of the best Arborists and consultants to help us figure out what the best way to handle the situation was. If you really care about your trees go no further and call John. I will never call anyone else. I have a very old lemon tree and over the last 5 years I hired two different companies for a trim really, just to shape her, but, instead got a butcher job severely traumatizing my poor tree. They each claimed that they were arborists and trained in trimming trees...they were not!! When expressing my concern over what appeared to be an excessive cutting, I was met with assurances that it was appropriate. Not being a professional I accepted their word, I was wrong! For the first time in 35 years my tree stopped producing fruit, John explained she was traumatized from the severe cutting twice over the last 5 years and that hopefully she would recover in time. I felt sad and was relieved that she recently began producing fruit again. At any rate, my poor tree was growing rather awkwardly so I sought help in shaping her again, fortunately I found John. He's incredibly knowledgeable and truly cares about trees. He returned my call promptly and took the time to listen. He asked that I email a photo and called me promptly to discuss a plan of action. He spent nearly 30 minutes on the phone with me explaining why he didn't think it was a good idea to cut at this time and to give her some time to recover, explaining what should have been done and advising me that she was in a distressed traumatized state because of the excessive cutting and even advising me of the best time of year to prune a citrus tree. He asked if some of the leaves, particularly new growth were shriveled and covered with a powdery substance, offering his assistance in helping me treat the tree in order to save me the money in paying him to do it. Not one of these so-called arborists even mentioned the shriveled leaves. I was amazed at his honesty in turning down work for the sake of the well being of my tree and his vast knowledge. Time was of no concern but only that he help me help my tree. He told me I could call or email him anytime with any questions I may have...He's just fantastic!! So, don't call anyone else if you truly care about your trees, because 9 times out of 10 you'll get some guy with a pruner and a chain saw who doesn't know or care about trees and only wants to earn a buck, rather than a sincere knowledgeable human being that John is, who loves trees and has the knowledge to give you the best care. Thank you so very much!!

I am very pleased. This company is competent, courteous, clean, fair priced and punctual. I will use them again next year.

A+ all the way. We are in Woodland Hills which is NOT their service area. John said if there was enough work he would come out for the job. I sent pics on the phone and we set up a day for an estimate after he reviewed them. John came out on a Sunday, looked over the trees, gave me details on each one, and provided options. We had them come back to do the work. A couple of days before the job he called to say there was a chance he might not make it - problems with their large truck. Called the day before to say it was all repaired and they would be there - excellent communication. He didn?t have to say anything and it was nice that I could be prepared if he didn?t make it. Guys all arrived on time. Very professional, hard working. What I initially thought was a lot of money to trim some trees proved to be a very good value given how long it took 4 guys with heavy equipment. Our house looks 100% better with the trees trimmed back. We will call them again to get tree work done .

I was very pleased from start to finish. I'm under pressure to get our house ready to rent. John responded promptly to my phone call and a date was set for him to come over and assess the job. As I had grown accustomed, and a bit attached, to our overgrown "jungle" look, he was understanding of my "benign" neglect and terrific in reassuring me how much better our front and back yard would appear. John was correct!. Within a few days, John arrived with his 4 member crew right on time. I was introduced to the men and given the paperwork listing the work and price we had discussed. He informed me that the supervisor, Roberto, would check with me throughout the day if more or less was needed to be done on any given tree. Much of the overgrowth was around our swimming pool with a very limited space between one side of the pool and the fence behind it. It took great skill and from all the men to get their ladders in such a confined space and to then climb considerable heights. I was worried about all the debris falling in the pool, but the men did an excellent efficient job cleaning the pool area and the rest of the the yard as well. Roberto did consult with me during various stages of individual tree trimming to get my input and if I was satisfied. When I would suggest cutting more they were willing to comply and pleasant about it. When I mentioned to my neighbor that I was thinking of using Best Care Tree service, he told me he had used them as well to trim a huge fir tree his front yard. So between my neighbor's recommendation, reading Angie's list and comparing with another service I had considered I am really pleased with Best Care Tree service and plan on having them here once a year to maintain the .new lighter and brighter look.

John and his team were professional, punctual and extremely neat and careful. He arranged to have work done for me in a hurry as this monster of a tree was going to interfere with a roof installation coming up. He took care in not hurting the health or integrity of the tree while obtaining the result I was after. He can be trusted to do the job right the first time. All of his crew were professional and courteous. His equipment was top notch as well, and all limbs were lowered by a pulley system rather than dropping haphazardly.I will definitely use him again!

John and the crew arrived on time on the scheduled day. John explained to me the process of the removal. The crew put up tarps and boards before the process to decrease the mess. They were professional, clean and productive. The tree was removed with out any damage to my property which is difficult because it is gated. They were great.

John responded quickly to my inquiry, showed up when he said he would for the estimate, gave me a reasonable estimate, changed his schedule to fit the job in before the fire department's deadline, had his crew work several hours longer than the original estimate to get the job done... all was great. The crew were nice, cleaned up after themselves both days, and did a great job.

John and his crew were Great! They did a beautiful job on the large trees. Before the pruning they warned us about what to expect, how they would look and how soon they would grow back. Everything they said was accurate. Due to their schedule and the season, it took a long while for them to return to finish the smaller tree. When they did, they again advised what to expect (this one was so tangled, it looked like sticks when they finished). It is actually growing back faster than predicted. We selected John because he seemed to truly care about the trees. The work his crew did reflected just that. We would absolutely recommend this company.

did not have this company do the work because they didn't come to our area for small jobs, however I was compelled to write a short note because John went out of his way to help me understand the job and make sure that I wasn't over paying for another company. Very responsive and good with the follow up, and helped me even though it wasn't going to result in business for him. Great guy!

My experience went pretty well. The guy that came out and gave me the quote was very personable.

I live in Northern California and finding service providers is always problematic. John was very accommodating and provided before and after pictures. The renters were having a wedding party at the home that weekend and John and his crew were able to get the work done quickly before the party. After receiving the 'after' pictures John faxed a bill to me and trusted I would mail the payment, which I did. Overall, the experience was exceptional.

John Colizzi and his crew are artists, not just arborists or tree trimmers. We were admittedly nervous about having someone tackle this massive job: 9 old, large, overgrown and untended California Live Oaks on our newly-bought property. We had a few estimates, but were most impressed with John. He arrived early for the consultation, was engaging, informative and knowledgeable about the particulars around CA oaks. We had done some homework prior, so were pleased that he was thoroughly familiar with all of the details. He inspected and evaluated every one of the trees, each of which had particular considerations due to size, age, placement and prior growth. He stressed the importance of respecting the 25% guideline for oak trimming, and pledged to bring out the beauty in each of the trees, as well as to prevent damage to the house and to the rest of the property and plantings. On the day, he and his crew arrived a few minutes before the appointment (as they did each day). He introduced me to everyone on the crew (friendly, professional, hard-working team) and they set to work, laying out 4'x8' sheets of plywood to protect the areas where debris would fall. Slowly and carefully, the crew began to trim the trees, one by one, until, after 2 1/2 days, what had been a grove of impenetrable, dense growth and gnarly old dead wood was transformed into an airy, lofty canopy of delicate branches and foliage. After they were done, they thoroughly swept, raked and collected all the trimmings and debris and fed them into their mulcher. All that is left is a stunning oak grove. The transformation is dramatic, but the effect is completely natural. If you didn't know that these trees had just been trimmed, you would look at them and say: "Wow, what a beautiful oak grove - they look so delicate and proportional." There are no unsightly stumps or unbalanced cuts. It's as if they trimmed the trees with a nail scissors. John will probably not be your lowest estimate, but he is not out of line for the quality of work that he delivers, which, needless to say, is exceptional. Think about it: you have to live with your trees every day in your yard. Someone can come in, charge you a basement rate, chop away and they'll never see you again. But you're left with their handiwork (or lack of same) for years. And every day is a reminder - either of how beautiful your trees are, and what a great investment you made in their care, or of a lousy experience you wish you could forget. Don't be penny wise and pound foolish. Hire John Colizzi and have your trees trimmed with care.

Perfect! Everyone arrived on time with the equipment required for the job. The men worked as an efficient team in assembly line fashion to remove bricks and railroad ties. The removal of the trees, roots & stumps went quickly. These guys know what they are doing! Everything looked great when the work was complete!! Additionally, John, the owner, gave me some advice regarding the health of some 100 year old sycamores in our front yard. The advice he gave was spot on based on how the trees have responded since then. He REALLY cares for & understands about trees.

I am very pleased with their service. They did what they said they were going to do. The price is fair. They were very cooperative. They cleaned up after themselves. It was easy to get a hold of them.
