Eric did a good job, everything was easy, no drama. We ordered the materials through him, and are happy with the discount. The end result is great, we love our new vinyl floor.

Eric helped me with some repairs I needed on my house's floor. I had originally hired Home Depot's installers for my wood flooring project and they kept putting me off and extending the date for installation, so I hired Eric. He showed up the very next day and completed the 300 sq ft job that same evening! Eric does amazing work and it shows through his enthusiasm. In addition to his expertise in flooring he also has an eye for wall color and provided a few helpful suggestions to better accent the space. Who knew I could have a floor installer and interior decorator in one person! I would highly recommend Eric and his winning personality to my friends and neighbors.

Eric and his crew were absolutely the best. We had other contractors bid on the job but they wanted to removed sections of our Brazilian wood before they could sand and refinish the floor. When Eric initially came out he took his time studying the project and concluded that he could do the whole job without replacing some cupped boards. On Monday, he carefully moved all the furniture out, covered it with plastic, did the work, and by the following Monday put everything back perfectly. On a minor note, they did struggle with some of the electronics in our entertainment center for a little while (I have 7 different electronics hooked in), but eventually figured it out and got it all working properly. I'm very happy, my friends love it, and my husband didn't have to tell them what to do to get the job done right (the first time.) The work ethics of this entire company is exactly what everyone is looking for when they hire people to do a job, plus Eric is really friendly, easy to work with and has a great sense of humor.

Eric Bateman of Common Sense Flooring went beyond the call of duty in assessing the problem which was causing the floor to buckle, and subsequently removed the faulty floor and replaced new flooring in the most professional and masterful way. Eric does a fantastic job. Eric has recently expanded his flooring business to include full remodeling and real estate sales. If I ever sell the condo in Solana Beach I would certainly use only Eric as my realtor. He will work far beyond the call of duty to take care of anyone's real estate needs.

We used Eric Bateman in 2004 to install a pad and wood flooring following water damage in our home - his work was excellent! In 2016 we again had water damage and I did not hesitate, I called Eric Bateman - products were discussed, an estimate given, and work scheduled. Eric of Common Sence Flooring was prompt on the days he worked, picked up the supplies I had ordered, left the area clean, answered all our questions and produced a lovely flooring. If we are again in need of flooring, Common Sence Flooring and Eric Bateman will be our choice.

Eric was very helpful and patient with our decision making process. Once we made our decision, he and Carlos started the work right away and completed everything on schedule.  They were very pleasant to have around and kept our house liveable during the process. Eric and his team did an excellent job on our project.  It was a major project that was managed entirely remotely, since we were living in Boston at the time of the renovations.  Some of the key points that stick out to us in terms of working with Eric include the following:
HIGH QUALITY:  It was very clear to us that Eric takes a lot of pride in his work, and his craftsmanship of our brand new Lauzon hardwood flooring was top notch.  The hardwood looks incredible, it is perfectly even/flat, and all of the intricate cuts to go around special features were done with high precision.  In fact, Eric made a special trip to our home on the day that the moving truck arrived to speak with the moving coordinator and ensure his team was taking proper care of the new flooring.  Anyone else who has seen our home since we've moved in has commented on how excellent the floors look.  The movers also made some minor damage to the new floors during the move-in process, and Eric removed the damaged floor boards and replaced them promptly... we cannot even tell which boards were replaced since it was done so well.
GOOD COMMUNICATION:  We managed this entire renovation project from the other side of the country, and Eric did a superb job of keeping us posted on the progress.  He sent us photos periodically and communicated to us primarily over text messaging... as well as some emails and phone calls.  There was one minor communication issue with one of the other contractors we had on site (due to some paint splatter left behind by the other contractor), but Eric addressed the issue directly with the lead of that team and it was resolved quickly.  He ran questions by us before proceeding at any major decision points.
SOLID TIME MANAGEMENT:  Due to a longer than expected delay in getting the actual wood for our flooring project from the manufacturer (due to the supplier's extended holiday shutdown period), Eric worked very quickly and efficiently after the wood arrived to ensure that the vast majority of our home was complete prior to the arrival of the moving truck.  He worked under a very aggressive timeline, yet delivered a top notch installation throughout the house.  In fact, the flooring would have been entirely complete when the moving truck arrived if we hadn't noticed a water leak under one of our doors that we needed to fix first.
Overall, we would certainly hire Eric and his team again, and we appreciate the attention to detail they gave our large project.  Our new hardwood flooring looks incredible and has certainly added to the value of our home.  We will recommend him to anyone else who is planning to undertake a flooring project in the San Diego area.

Did a great job of repairing the floor.  Was hard to find a floor expert willing to take the small  job and was originally going to use a general handyman do it until I found Common Sense Flooring on Angies List.  He worked with me via email and photos via dropbox to determine the extent of the work.  He worked with my wifes and my schedule to arrange a time complete the work on days that we could work from home.

Eric took the time to figure out exactly what was needed when no one else could and he came and put in the flooring exactly as promised.  Looks great!

Eric at Common Sense Flooring is the only wood and laminate floor installer you should use.   I live 2 hours away from the job site.  The previous installed laminate *(installed in March, 2015) was buckling.   Eric assessed the floor problem  and outlined the plan for fixing the problem.  He was thorough and explicit in his explanation.   He went around to his suppliers in an effort to find the right match to existing floor.  He took samples on two different occasions  to the tenant at the address for her to assess the match.   He then purchased and installed the flooring all the while coordinating with me and the tenant for schedules to get the job done.  All this was done without me having to drive the two hours to be there.   When a tile (also recently installed by another contractor) broke because of faulty installation, Eric drove out of his way to pick up and deliver the necessary tiles to the condo.  Since Eric does not install tile, he took the trouble to search for a reputable tile installer and coordinated that job with the tenant.   Eric went above and beyond the call of duty to correct the damaged floor in my condo.    I wouldn't use anyone else for any future wood and laminate flooring.

Common Sense Flooring is awesome.  Eric came as soon as I called, measured everything, offered advice and worked up an estimate.  It was among the most reasonable estimates we received, plus he was able to do the entire job, including the staircase.  It took awhile to find exactly the right flooring material, but when I found what I liked, he found a supplier and then he and Carlos came to demo what was here and install the new floor.  They were both professional, knowledgeable, friendly and very hard workers.  And the floor is absolutely gorgeous.  So beautiful, in fact, that we're having them back to do the same flooring in our large master bedroom.  The staircase is also just beautiful, and I will review Bob under his own business.

They did an awesome job and were very honest. Most people didn't want to take this job on. We had sizeable scratches in our bamboo floor from moving out of the house. They were really on it and fixed everything perfectly but most of all I appreciated their honesty.

Mr. Bateman asked about the installer and offered to call him and discuss the situation because he felt it was the installer's responsibility to address the problem. Long story short - working with the original installer didn't work out because he couldn't find time on his schedule. We felt Mr. Bateman was very ethical and fair by trying to resolve our problem in a way that was better for us financially. He spent his valuable time trying to find a solution for us. Finally, this month, Nov.) we decided that we wanted to get the problem handled, so we called Mr. Bateman again with the idea that he would fix the floor.Surprisingly, after about 6 months the floor seemed to miraculously contract, so at this time, we will not use Mr. Bateman. However, without a doubt, for any type of flooring needs that we may have in the future, our first call will be to Common Sense Flooring.

Commonsense flooring- Eric & Carlos did a fantastic job on our beautiful new wood floor.  From the delivery of the materials and keeping them out of the way (since we still needed to live in our home) to getting the job done, it was a great experience.  
They took care in laying out the boards to get a nice flowing look.  The transitions from the tile to the new wood look great and are smooth, which was an area of concern. Eric takes his work seriously and pays attention to your details and concerns.  
Eric gave us options for various things and his experienced opinion on all areas which we appreciated since we were new to getting floors installed.  He knows his craft and nailed it.
