"I apologize about your feelings about the work. If I may, allow me to retort to your comments, and to explain my understanding of the situation; We originally met to discuss the painting work on April 24th of this year. As part of our standard research to understand what level of work and preparation you were looking for, we came to the understanding that you were looking for a very budget friendly paint job.You mentioned many times that you did not want to spend a lot of money on the work. We then based our estimate and pricing on this. I apologize if we did not understand your needs properly. Your home has significant preparation, where the time involved to prepare surfaces can vary depending on your budget and desired outcome. We did state in the contract a specific number of hours to conduct in the preparation, and reviewed this with you before we started to ensure that you were clear that we would be doing a mid level job. Your home is an older Oakland home which has not been painted in 20-30 years. We come across this on most every job that we do,which is why we spend so much time during the estimate to understand what type of job you are looking for, and make it as clear as possible on the contract. I did inspect the job,and it was a decent, mid level job. I agree, there were a few items that should have been tended to before the crew left the job. There was some paint on the electrical socket, a few imperfections in highly visible areas on the drywall and one light socket was not installed correctly. Once I became aware of the issue, I did the best that I could to resolve the issue, and reach your 100% satisfaction. We are not perfect, and things do happen. After I had the crew come back to take care of all the outstanding items, and bring it up to the level that you were expecting, I hope that we were able to resolve the matter and the work that we provided was up to your expectations."

I did the best that I could to prevent the idea that we would paint the entire exterior of an Oakland house for $1850. The deal states 1 painter for 1 week. I never meant for this to come across that we could paint an entire house for this amount. Typically,in our area, there is significant preparation required to attain a quality job. I am working with Angies List to revise the deals and the wordage so they reflect this. I hope, in an after thought,that you received the job that you were looking for, in a competitive fair price. The guys did a very nice job, and your house looks very good."
