If I knew that, I would likely not need them for an estimate to do the work. I cannot see behind a stucco wall.
I declined to talk with them further.
"Dear [Member Name Removed], Thank you for your feedback. We try to assist to the best possible way we can all of our clients. We definitely do screening as we value the time of our potential clients. We do a minimum of 500 sq.ft. stucco replacement. Under no circumstances do we want to take your time just to tell you that we cannot perform your project. We hope we can accommodate you in your future projects such as complete kitchen and bathroom remodel, siding and windows replacement along with roof and pavers. Wishing you only the best in your upcoming stucco repair. Sincerely, America's Dream HomeWorks"

I have one estimate to do the entire house in James Hardie siding for 36K + permit costs. The entire house is 2800 Square feet of siding (approx) if I wanted to replace the cedar siding plus the existing siding around the entire house.
However the estimate came in for just replacing the cedar shingles which is approximately 1120 square feet.
Cost was 31865 for the siding and replacement of the trim on the windows and doors was an additional 2,250. Seemed a bit high. I know its storm season, el nino and is probably very busy, but seems a bit high. Thats 28.45 per square foot.
All of my comments are in the first section.
We found them easy to work with. We were able to discuss with them about things we wanted. During the work we were able to discuss things we wanted to change, add, or clear up (e.g., color of the trim, painting of the soffits). We found them very hard working and very professional. They cleaned up at the end of the day. They had an experienced team that knew what to do and did a good job.
We contacted America?s Dream Homeworks based on the enthusiastic recommendation of our next door neighbors who used them a couple of years ago to replace their exterior siding and also based on the reviews on Angie?s list.
We worked a good amount of time with Mark to discuss what we wanted done. He used our discussions to come up with a contract. We reviewed the contract to finalize what we wanted done. The contract was pretty detailed on the work that would be done, the materials used, the cost and payment schedule, and the project schedule.
The total price of the project was very comparable to the bids we got from other contractors.
The contract called for a start date of 2-4 weeks from contract sign date and the work to take 15-23 business days. The project started on schedule and completed on schedule.
We really had 4 mini projects ? the roof, siding, gutters, and laundry room work. ADH coordinated the schedule of these projects so that the work would be done without any conflicts. Once one of these ?mini projects? was started, they worked on it until it was completed. The only exception was the roofing but this was due to the fact that our city requires an inspection while the roof is half complete.
The roof and gutter work were subcontracted out, but ADH provided the oversight of these contractors. We chose James Hardie fiber cement lap siding. ADH has an experienced team to do the installation. They worked hard to finish the installation in about a week. Boris from ADH finished the laundry room and followed up to make sure that any problems identified in the final city inspection were completed.
We are happy with the work that ADH did and the exterior of our house looks great.
"Thank you so much for taking time to write such a detailed review, I appreciate you doing it for our company! We enjoyed working with you and I'm really glad you like your new siding and roof. I'm happy we achieved our goal of earning your trust and leaving you pleased with quality of our work and the end results. We appreciate your trust and business."
The laundry room got a similar treatment - new, matching quartz counter tops and a new tile floor. I was very picky about the tile pattern that was to be laid out, and Serge (tile installer) was phenomenal. (OK, the tile floor in the laundry room was easy, but when he had to apply the same pattern to the shower enclosures, that got tricky, but he did an AMAZING job.
Eugene (main contractor) did the work on the bathrooms (except the tiling). In our master bath, he reconfigured the shower and installed a new jetted tub. New sinks, new faucets, new fixtures were all installed well. In one of the guest bathrooms, he put in a new tub/shower combination. In the other guest bathroom, he reconfigured a shower. All got the same quartz counter tops, new sinks, and fixtures.
Everything looks fantastic. When we noticed the new shower valve didn't get the water hot enough, he fixed it. When the new shower door leaked, he fixed it. When the GFCI in the guest bathroom didn't pass inspection, he fixed it. Eugene was very responsive to our requests. He also did a pretty good job cleaning up after himself every day, which was no small task considering the work we had done. Even though we lived through the mess, it wasn't that bad.
recently had my entire upstairs Master Bathroom remodeled. I had received (5) separate quotes from
different contractors during the bidding process. With a job so large, I wasn?t about to just
hire anybody. I researched extensively
with the California State Contractor?s License Board. I then researched extensively researching reviews
from past clients who had similar work performed. During this process is where, I quickly eliminated
(3) of the (5) bidding contractors. I
could not get (3) of the contractors to provide me with even one past client,
that I could call and verify their work.
So, then It came down to (2) companies.
I asked these (2) companies a series of questions (see below) and only
received a verbal response from (1) of the two companies. Needless to say, that was the hired
contractor, which was ?America?s Dream Home Works?.
1. The marble walls
etc...that you have quoted to install, how is that when it comes to
cleaning? Is that product more on the top-of-the-line side and is mainly
recommended? What are your thoughts about fiberglass?
2. Also, do You
Guarantee Your Work? Also if any, what warranty do you provide after
everything is all done for materials and installation? Sometimes, water
leaks don't tend to show up unless a few months have gone by! 3. Do You Carry General Liability Insurance?
4. Do You Carry
Workers' Compensation Insurance? 5. Do you have any references, which I may speak
with for installations that you have completed in this fashion?
I figure, if
I am remodeling an entire master bathroom, then any bidding contractor should
be able to take his/her time and answer these simple questions (above)!
I
hired America?s Dream Home work?s for the entire project, which is (1). Demo to
include ? removal of double-vanity with counter tops, sinks, faucets. Remove bathtub, medicine cabinet, toilet and
tile. (2). Install new pipes for a total
reformation for a tub-to-shower-conversion, with new marble walls AND
installing new Rain Massage shower fixtures (3). Install new ceiling fan with
electric and automatic sensor lighting. (4). Install new double-vanity with counter tops, sinks,
faucets, medicine cabinet, vanity lighting, toilet, tile and baseboards. (5). for the final touches, Eugene painted the
entire bathroom for a brand new look.
My
project coordinator at America?s Dream Home Works was wonderful and very pleasant
to deal with. She was very responsive to
any questions that came up. She also
kept in touch throughout the entire remodel process. Now, I can?t say enough good things about ?Eugene?. Eugene was the Master Bathroom remodeler who
handled, worked, handcrafted and beautifully finished this entire project in two-week?
timeframe. Eugene handled everything
from dealing with the city inspector for the permit process all the way to the
final and passed inspection. I will say
one thing about both Natalie and Eugene.
During the process of my Master Bathroom remodel, I discovered that my
other upstairs bathroom?s showerhead could be possibly leaking. I asked Eugene if he would be able to replace
the shower fixtures along with replacing new faucets for this bathroom. I thought to myself, why research and hire a
plumber and why not ask him (being well aware of his expertise) with the Master
Bathroom remodel. Eugene was first
skeptical (as he should be) and requested that I call Natalie. I sent Natalie an email asking her to quote
me for the services that I needed. The
quote was about $300 above my budget. I
explained my situation to Natalie, and I honestly felt she cared about my
situation. She understood that I just
spent $12, 912 for an entire Master Bathroom remodel and she asked her manager
if it was possible to reduce the cost by $300 to meet my budget. Natalie?s manager was generous to do this, so
I was able to repair and replace the other upstairs bathroom as well.
Once
again, Thank You for all your hard work and keeping all the promises you made
on our contract. I am hoping, that we
will be hooking up again very soon to remodel my other (2) bathrooms in the
near future. I can keep going on and on,
but I can?t say enough great things about these people and company. So, having said that; I?ve decided to pen-off
here.

The crew, Vasyl and team, were dedicated, knowledgeable, thorough, sincere, respectful, and most of all, very hardworking. The project took 7 weeks whereas most other contractors said 12-14 weeks. Price was mid-range for excellent work - not the lowest, but not highest either. No subcontractors were used, which was a major selling point for us. We didn't want to have unknown strangers walking in and out of our house every week. Countertop fabrication was top-notch! Every step of the way, our main sales guy, John Gotishan, was available to answer questions, negotiate prices, or do some more research on things that we liked. The crew were always helpful in giving advice on what would or would not work in their experience. Their advice was invaluable and saved us many hours of headache in research. Hats off to the project coordinator and manager, Tania, who handled communication, payments, and gave us reassurances constantly.
I have referred ADH, John, and Vasyl to several of my neighbors and some have even completed their remodeling projects based on our recommendation. Two thumbs up - thanks guys!!
One thing that was especially great is that some of the grout between the tiles wasn't quite level. I asked the team what could be done about it, and they sent the tile guy back to fix it. That really spoke true of their integrity to me.
I can't wait to enjoy my new bathroom!
Pros
1. Design and End Result - Mark, the company owner and a senior designer, listened carefully to what changes we wanted to make and provided 3D design drawings in a short amount of time. We had two other contractors bid on this project and we did not get any initial sketches from them verifying that they understood what our final target layout was. One of the contractors wouldn't even agree verbally that he would put the sink where we wanted it. With Mark we knew that what he drafted for us after our initial on-site consult was what they planned to do and if we had any changes we could mark up the design draft and discuss. The work contract is very detailed as well so I feel like they do their best to document and then meet or exceed expectations.2. Timeline and Schedule - I've heard many horror stories of contractors dragging their feet and missing deadlines. I'm always impressed how well ADH schedules its work and workers so that there are no surprises as far as work progress. They do what needs to be done to meet the contracted schedule. They did start the bathroom and kitchen at the same time and they were planning to finish at the same time but the bathroom did finish first due to some structural work that had to be done on a load bearing wall in the kitchen. Also we added many work items to the initial quotation and they were very agreeable about incorporating it into the initial schedule, to my surprise.3. Crew - The on-site crew (headed by Vlad B.) were professional and courteous and approachable. As Mark says they are part of the family business. They took pride in their work and they cleaned up every day. I felt very comfortable working around them when I was at home. They were very respectful of our home. Every so often there would be area experts from their staff (hardwood floor install, wall texture, shower marble install) too and they were professional and courteous as well.
Cons
1. Payment - After the initial designs are provided there is pressure to put down a deposit to proceed. Given that they were the only vendor that provided designs upfront I think I understand their desire to get a financial commitment but it may surprise some customers.
2. Structural Support - Work was started without knowing for sure if the walls we wanted removed were load bearing. We found out later there would need to be structural reinforcement. We did have to slow down work on the kitchen while that unscheduled issue was addressed but everything eventually got back on schedule. We had several discussions with Mark though and we clarified that the structural support had to be sufficient for a possible second floor addition in the future.
3. Details - We caught some details before installation (noticed some measurement marks in kitchen for placement of fridge and nearby cabinets was off) and a few things had to be addressed after installation (design drawing for bathroom had cabinet above toilet but it was missing from work contract - I should have noticed that earlier, at install, was missing some drawers to be installed in bathroom). Even though we've worked with this vendor before, in general, with a big contracting job it's important to check the details regularly (such as every day) independently by reviewing the contract and informally by discussing latest progress with the on-site project lead. Communication is key.
