Southland Heating and Air Conditioning

Brian came over to give us an estimate. He’s very friendly and polite, easy to work with. Answered all our questions and gave his recommendation without being pushy. Later we spoke with the owner, Dave, on the phone, who accommodated all our needs, gave us a great deal and upgraded our system with a medical grade filter at no extra cost. Pedro and his crew did the installation within a day. They were on time, worked fast, were super courteous, and cleaned everything up at the end. All in all everyone was very efficient. I was very pleased with their job and would hire them again without hesitation.

My tenants called complaining that the air-conditioner wasn’t turning on. It was an especially hot few days and I was concerned because they have small children . I called Southland and they were able to send a technician out the next day. The company I had been dealing with wasn’t going to be able to come out for a week . Robert was very knowledgeable and told me several parts needed to be replaced . They got the parts within a few days .I’m very happy to have the air-conditioner working again .

It went well. I chose to replace the pump. Bryan completed the job quickly and neatly. He was and is always very pleasant and easy to talk to and work with as are all the employees of Southland.

This was my first time using Angie's list, and was very impressed by the quick answer. I answer a couple of questions about the issue i'm having, or the repair needed and right away I was matched with a couple of contractors, so far so good lol But, Southland which is rated "A" never showed up to the appointment and didn't even called to reschedule :(.

Robert Alfonso was professional, knowledgeable, and efficient. The problem was adjusting gas flow and fan speed to prevent overheating. Robert understood the value of not overthinking the problem but addressed it properly, which saved us money on unnecessary repair work. I would definitely call Southland again and ask for Robert.

Excellent diagnosis and prompt service and repair from Southland Heating & Air’s technician Albert Mendoza. Albert successfully resuscitated our LG mini-split inverter by identifying the problem with the unit which called for replacing worn-out sensors. Thanks Southland & Albert!

It was an awesome experience. Got a text and email with the technicians picture and qualifications. I even had the opportunity to leave a review from a link on the text. The technician was professional and explained every detail. I highly recommend Southland!

Southland was great. They showed up on time, got right work and figured out what was wrong. The AC stopped working altogether a few days before, during the hottest heat wave, of course. The tech determined the capacitor needed replacement. The tech also checked out the rest of the house, was very professional. I was truly impressed and felt comfortable with his opinion. I did the repairs on the spot and signed up for their maintenance program so I could keep the unit working properly in the future. I highly recommend Southland. I plan to put AC in another house and will definitely call Southland for a quote. So so glad I found Southland. They made a hard problem easy to fix. Thank you Southland....you're the best.

Bryan was the technician who serviced the call. He was very nice, professional and took time to go through many options of why the unit wasn't functioning properly. He took the time to explain to me/show me why the capacitor (the original, lower quality one that was installed by manufacturer 7 years ago) wasn't functioning properly (45 units of power should go to condenser, 5 units of power should go to fan, but his instrument registered only 0.5 units of energy going to fan). This caused the fan to not work properly, which could have caused the condenser to work too hard and overheat. We replaced the Capacitor with a high quality one so enough power is going to both. Bryan inspected tightened all the bolts and the result was a smooth running A/C with less vibration and less noise. He did not try to sell us equipment we didn't need to tell us we needed to replace our A/C unit, which we liked. We greatly appreciated his help with fixing our A/C unit. We will contact Southland Heating and Air for our future A/C checkups. Thank you

The new system was installed in less than a week. The install crew was superb -- on-time, organized, professional, clean (all of my floors, furniture etc. were carefully protected with floor covers and plastic. When the crew was finished they vacuumed and made certain all work areas were clean). I live in a condo complex and the air conditioner compressor is located on the roof and they needed to use a crane to remove the old compressor and install the new one, needless to say I was a bit worried but it went smoothly and took less than thirty minutes to complete the process. At the end of the entire install, Willy the crew supervisor carefully showed me how my system worked (they use NEST thermostats) and it couldn't have been easier to learn. I love the fact that I can adjust my heating and air conditioning using my iPhone when I am away from home. He also showed me how to change the filters and made helpful suggestions for maintaining my system. I appreciated that Laura followed up with me at the end of the day and a week later to make certain I was happy with the system and to see if I had any questions or concerns relating to how to use the thermostat, etc. Also, Southland Heating and Air Conditioning helped to locate an independent HERS inspector and to coordinate with the city to schedule a final inspection by the city. Truly, I haven't had such an outstanding experience with any other type of contractor, or service company. From start to finish this is a First-Rate company. Most importantly, though I love the new HVAC system!

The guy came in and he refused to take a look at the heater. He said the heater that I owned is not supported by their service. He said my only option is to replace entire heating system which would cost a minimum of $4000. In the meantime, our family was living without a heater in late November and early December. 2 weeks later, a plumber had to work on our plumbing issues and when he came by, he simply took a look at it and lighted it for us. Since then, there hasn't been any problems. I communicated the issues and they came back to me offering a discount for later usage. At this point, I do not want to use them for the lack of integrity.

Horrible. I called them to fix my heater. I paid $115 for them to visit my house and all I got was a quote to replace the heater ($4250). I live in SouthBay and we have been living without a heater for this winter. The temperature was dipping below 50’s at night times and it felt chilly in the mornings for our 3 kids. I called 3 places and Southland made sure they were the first one to take a look at the heater within the same day. The technician came out and as soon as he looked at the furnace, he said he can’t touch that old unit because there’s nothing he can do. He gave me 3 quotes and I still had to pay for his visit without my heater working. During the house inspection in the summer, The SoCal inspection rep told me I could use my heater for 5 more years. Southland was using my vulnerabilities to sell their new heater unit. I find that unethical and unprofessional at all levels. If they simply fixed my heaters and helped me with starting my heater, I probably would have called them back for my heater and ac replacement next year. A week later, our plumbing guy was in the house and he took a look at it for 5 min and my heater is on since then.

The most professional, nice, clean and knowledgable crew came on time, had all of the equipment, had a can do attitude and it was a painless, great experience. I highly recommend this company to anyone. I have never worked with such a great crew and we got more than we could have hoped for by going with them. They were a one stop answer to the awful process of trying to decide what type of air/heat to install in an old house. They took care of it all and the price was absolutely fair!! Rudy, Joe and Matt are amazing - they really impressed us! We had several contractors come and the process was so laborious with needing to have sub contractors, workers, etc. When Matt came to give us the estimate, he told us exactly what we needed, how much it would cost and how long it would take. He brought a crew so it could all be done and each one was amazing with the care and knowledge they have. It was perfect and like I said, a one stop shop. One meeting, one day installation and done!!!
