Aladdin Air Conditioning & Heating Inc

Our A/C was was blowing only room-temp air. So I called Aladdin after reading the good reviews. I called one other company in the area and they do not apply the diagnostic fee toward the repair, Aladdin does, so that is partly why I chose them, plus they are local here in Newbury Park. The person on the phone, Laurie, I believe was her name, was very professional. She scheduled me the same day, since it was my day off and our A/C was not working and it is 90 degrees today. She gave me a time window for when they could come. I appreciated that the technician Wayne called ahead of time to let me know when to expect them. He was professional, had booties on while inside the house, which was nice since we have carpet. He changed the filter and checked the condenser. One of the parts was not working on the condenser, so he replaced the part. As far as the pricing goes, I don't have anything to compare it to, since I did not bid this job out. It was so hot today I didn't want to hassle. Their repair parts pricing is discounted if you sign up with them for a maintenance plan, which I did for $265. This includes two service calls a year, so I will be getting another service call in the Fall for the furnace check-up. It was a hassle-free transaction.

The communication was excellent and the workers were absolutely professional in every way. Everything works great, and the guys cleaned up after themselves. The best part is they were able to finish the work in one day! This was especially important since I have a newborn at home. They were so quiet that I believe my son didn't even know they were there. I highly, highly recommend this company even if you have to pay a little more. You can't really put a price tag on this type of professionalism and piece of mind that the job will be done right the first time. Thank you Aladdin

I enjoyed working with Alladin and I found Richard Squires, the salesman/comfort specialist, to be professional and attentive. We went back and forth several times by email and phone discussing various options. Richard even put me in touch with an in-house technical person to discuss a whole house fan and related system options. I was also working with a competitor which I believe was more technically savvy and significantly less expensive. When I eventually informed Richard that I was going with another contractor he asked for one last shot at bidding with the equipment I chose to have installed. He responded with a deeply discounted bid and came pretty close to my lowest bidder. This made it hard to chose between the two as they had some differing plus' and minus', but in the end I went with the other contractor partly because Richard didn't give me his best price until after I'd decided to go elsewhere.

They seemed professional and they were courteous. They were logical and found out the problem. They gave us the price and it seemed reasonable. They fixed it in an efficient manner. We couldn't ask for anything else. They performed the work as stated so it was fairly good. Everything is working well now.

My father's furnace died just about the same time as a major cold snap hit Thousand Oaks. We had an independant HVAC guy give us an estimate to replace the furnance and the ducting. After checking Angie's list, I asked Aladdin to come in and give us an estimate. The sales guy was very nice and the presentation is very clear and easy to understand. With furnace replacement, there are several options, which also involve potential goverment rebates. The sales man was very open about the fact the the most expensive system, might not be the best value. We asked if the install could happen quickly as my Dad was freezing his britches off and they came out two days later and took care of everything. They were on-time, performed the work quickly and neatly and the new furnace works like a champ.

I have had my new Heating and A/C for almost a year and the system is perfect and the addition of the improved filtration has helped out my allergies at home and this new efficient system has been saving us on our monthly utility cost not to mention they worked with us on purchase price since I had several quotes. When I had an issue Aladdin responded and corrected the issue in a very timely manner. I have recommended them to many friends and co-workers.

Wayne (owner) and Wayne (technician) were both knowledgeable, punctual, and extremely nice to work with. We hadn't used Alladin before (last time we had any trouble with furnace/AC was well before we had heard of angie's list) so we picked best-rated on angie's list for our area and we can see why they've received such good feedback. They were also good about offering emergency/weekend service if needed, at what we thought was a reasonable premium. So if we were really in trouble after hours we know we could also call on them. Given recent cold spell they were pretty busy but were great about offering times that worked for our schedule. They gave us a helpful assessment of health/longevity of our system and came across to us as trust-worthy, with a well informed diagnosis.

The first bid I received was high but after I received two other bids they matched the lowest one. I would have liked it if they had just given me the lower price when I first talked to them like the other companies did. I used them because they were local and because the representatives I dealt with were helpful and pleasant Once we agreed on a price they were very professional and did all the work on time and as agreed. The installers were good at cleaning up each day. When the unit was installed they sent in the paperwork for the California $1,000 rebate. I received a letter saying that my application was incomplete. I contacted Aladdin and they sent in the missing information but I still don't know if it was in time to receive the rebate before the money was gone. Overall I was pleased with the work and the unit is working great. I would recommend Aladdin to anyone needing a new furnace or A/C.

Overall, it went pretty well. There was confusion as to what was being installed when it was found out the downstairs could not facilitate a 4 ton unit and had to be reduced to a 3 ton unit. It was finally reconciled though

The job was awesome. They are great. The supervisor who gave the bid was really professional. He knew what he was talking about. He was easy to work with. He told me some ways to save money. The job that they did was also very good.

I called Aladdin because the furnace had stopped working and the company that had warranteed it was closed on weekends so I was willing to pay for a service call. The furnace is less than two years old. The technician came out and proceeded to tell me that the furnace was installed all wrong, against code, and would need a lot of work. They said an inside fuse had tripped and could easily be reset, but because it was installed wrong it would be dangerous to leave it running so they disconnected it. On Monday, after a cold weekend, I was furious and called the installing company and an independent contractor who came out and both assured me that permits had pulled and that it had been inspected after installation and that everything Aladdin had said was not true. Aladdin did not charge for the service call after I wrote them and told them what had happened, but I will never use them again.

Jesse from Aladdin came out to check the heater and air conditioner. He was professional and knowledgeable and showed us that the coils on our 25 year old heater were leaking. He suggested we meet with Tom to buy a new heater. Tom was outstanding and took a great deal of time with us discussing what we needed and the cost. We scheduled a time to replace the heater, and Tom was on site to explain to the installers exactly what needed to be done. All of the specialists were professional and neat. I would not hesitate to recommend Aladdin to my friends and associates.

They did a great job. First I thought for sure it will cost me a few thousand dollar$ when my 25yr old AC unit went during the recent heatwave. The lady I spoke w/ was very nice and friendly and got me an appointment the very next day for a technician to come over. The tech (Wayne) came on schedule and checked the system. He probably could have easily said that I needed to replace the entire unit, but said it's just the fuse. He also cleaned the screen and made a good recommendation to not have our dryer running while the A/C is running because the dryer vent dumps adjacent to the AC unit and clogs it w/ lint. They will even come back to perform more cleaning (of ducts, etc) at a later time for free. Hard to find good-honest service these days and joing Angie's list paid off just right away. ; ) Well... when that A/C unit finally does go out, I'll know who to call.

Richard worked with me so that I could afford a more efficient, greener system than othewise. He clearly explained the complicated array of federal, state, gas company and manufacturer rebates. After taking my order he made sure that I was satisfied once the work was in progress. Followup to fine-tune the system has been quick and competant.

They arrived on time, calling first to let us know when they would get to our home. They did the work and in the process saved us over $5000.00, which was a bid I received from an unscrupulous repairman earlier that day. I was so happy with the work done that I signed up for a service agreement.

Excellent. It wasn't cheap, but I didn't expect it to be. The guy called on his way and was very friendly -- but not too friendly -- when he arrived. I told him the problem, he sussed it out, and presented me with options. I felt like he was very honest. He recommended a less expensive option and said if it were him, he'd go with that one.

They were great, always on time. They were able to work efficiently and find problems quickly. Their prices always seemed fair.

I do not have the expertise to judge the quality of the work -- time will tell. The service person seemed knowledgeable and sincere. This one felt better than the company I had used before, but that is a subjective impression.

Work was done neatly and professionally. All members of the work unit were gracious, friendly and helpful in answering questions and explaining what needed to be done. Last minute change in location of outside unit when it was found that it was less than five feet from the lot line. New location required the removal of part of a hedge, but overall am more pleased with the final location.

They did a very good job. They were very co-operative in working as it is a rental property of mine. I would use them again, if needed.

The best part about Aladdin was that they came right out the next day. The AC repair company I wanted, would only come out after a 3 day weekend. Aladdin will work everyday if they need to. They added freon to my unit and put a dye in there so that they could come back and find the leak. As soon as they put the freon in, the AC worked great, but even after coming back twice, they still can't find the leak. They talked me into signing a maintenance agreement for one year because it was almost cheaper that way than not doing it. When they come back in 6 months for the maintenance, they will check for the leak again, but will charge me for that, which I don't think they should. So, we'll see.

During the middle of a late summer heat wave, our 17 year old Lennox a/c unit stopped working. I visited Angie's List and found Aladdin, a company in our area that was very well- thought of. I called them, set up an appointment and the very next day, Mr Jose Vasquez, one of Aladdin's service technicians came out. He discovered the cause of the problem, gave me pros and cons and options, and I decided to go for repair instead of full replacement.

Even though Alladin is not an authorized Lennox dealer, their team correctly diagnosed the problem and recommended the right course of action. The evaporation coil was defective in multiple spots and required a complete replacement- sheet metal work and coil. The repair had a small defect and condensation leak that was addressed by Alladin immediately and at no charge! We have also had a preventative service visit that we purchased and were very pleased with the thoroughness and quality of the technician. Overall, this company gets an A for service, outcome, and integrity. When it is time to replace our system we will use Alladin again.

In general, a competent job was done on the capcitor. My brother-in-law, who installs HVACs both residentially and commercially had pointed to this, and in fact when the service tech pulled it out and showed me, the cap had bulged indicating that the chemical contents has started to go. BUT, I had two fairly significant additional issues. First, I got a very crafty sell on a Hard Start unit in addition to the capacitor. A hard start unit can be helpful if you experience frequent low voltage to your home. When the AC unit kicks on when the voltage is low, you can experience a dip through out your house causing things like lights dimming and MAYBE sensitive computer connections. In theory, under normal conditions, this will also help your unit (i.e., make it easier to start up). However, this would only be over a long period of time WITH a huge amount of AC use. At about $275 additional cost and considering the age of the unit (I'm guessing I have about 7 years of life in it left) I did not feel this was worth it. When I quizzed him on the usefulness of this device he told me he was just trying to help me out and that he had one at his house, but could not clearly discuss the benefits vs. costs (I am a high school Chemistry teacher and may be more than a little picky). I did some quick research at http://hvac-talk.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=105195 where I learned there is a pretty hefty commission for selling these. Finally, on Angie's website this contractor indicated a discount for Angie's list members. This was FALSE. In order to get ANY discounts, you have to purchase a maintennace agreement. If you do, then the price of the repair fell to about +$10 of the quoted repair, so when it looked like I wouldn't spring for it, he allowed for both of my filters and gave me TWO preventative checks now and in a year. I had not previously had any checks at all, so I went for it. It would have been better if he had just thrown in the check. I figure the quick response was partially due to low demand, so do a quickie freebie and ingratiate yourself to the customer!

They did a great job. I felt like they were very professional. It cost a lot, but this kind of job does. He was very informative and explained all my options to me. The workmen that came were great. They put down drop cloths anywhere they walked in the house. When they would go outside and come back in they would put little booties on over their shoes. They were very respectful of my property and they cleaned up well. They had to make some holes in the ceiling for wiring. They have a great network to recommend someone who could do drywall for that. I would highly recommend them.
