When we arrived home, there was fecal matter in various places around the house, which meant that my sick cat, who has inflammatory bowel disease, will get diarrhea if he is not given his meds.  He lost a lot of weight, which, as it turned out was due to his hyperthyroidism being out of control. This was due to not getting his medication as prescribed.  (A visit to the vet confirmed this is what had happened, just as I suspected.)  I showed Amanda how to deal with the litter boxes and the amount of clean litter to be put in them weekly, after she cleaned them.  The cats had stopped using their litter boxes because she had put too much litter in the boxes; they were not used to feeling that much litter under their paws and refused to use the boxes.  There was dried vomited food and fecal matter from diarrhea which I found around the house that had not been cleaned up. My husband went in our bathroom to use the toilet and discovered that something(?) had been dumped in the toilet which almost overflowed when he flushed it  We finally got the toilet to flush or we would have had to call a plumber out to take care of it.  We suspect she flushed the litter down the toilet instead of emptying it in the trash to be picked up with the weekly trash collection.  I had told her she could flush the feces down the toilet, NOT the litter!  I was aware that Amanda has small children, who, she obviously brought with her during some of her visits.  She did not ask me if it was O.K. to bring them.  I would have said No because my cats are not used to small children and because one of the cats is sick. I'm sure it was upsetting to him, and may have triggered his diarrhea.  Children are not like adults around pets and their behavior would be upsetting to a sick old cat.  I'm sure this was the case because all the cats' toys which I keep in the kitty condo were found all over my house: under a runner in the hallway, under the area rug in the living room, under a living room table, tucked into the chair cushions in the living room, under the dining room table, & tucked into the cat's beds.  My sofa throw was on the floor in back of the furniture I keep it on.  To sum it up, MY HOME WAS A MESS!  I spent 3 days getting my house in perfect order and spotless before we left so that when we returned I would have nothing to do but unpack the suitcases and do the laundry.  What an UNPLEASANT SURPRISE I had when we walked in the door.  I was exhausted from the trip and I came home with pneumonia to boot..  It took me 2 weeks to clean up the mess.  I will NEVER use her again!!  "BUYER BEWARE!!"
