Affordable Handyman has been a blessing. Jose is wonderful! He is easy to work with and very reasonable. Cecelio and Anita are very hard working and precise. Jose and the team not only finished the work exquisitely, they found problems that needed to be fixed. I would recommend them wholeheartedly!

They were on time every morning, very respectful and very knowledgeable. They were very neat while working and cleaned up so well in the evening you never would have known they were there. The work was beautiful, I won’t hire anyone else for future jobs. I feel that not only did we find the perfect handyman , we also found a new friend.

Jose and his workers are great; they will even move furniture that has nothing to do with the repairs if requested. I seemed to have several shorts; all were found and fixed. All of my lights are finally working again! The roofing project also went very well, as they were able to match the rest of the roof; even though I had the name of the color wrong. From looking at the quality of the work; I think it will hold up even in the winds we get here. Jose is a dog lover, he took the time to learn the dogs names, and made sure to watch the escape artist so we didn't have to go chase her. When I'm ready for my next project I will call on Affordable Handyman again.

The shower started leaking and Jose came very quickly to assess the damage. He showed me the leak and how the backer board had been installed incorrectly to begin with in the bath tub. He said they could patch it but it would start leaking again, so recommended it be redone properly. The tub and tile had to be demolished and everything replaced. He and his associate began demolition that day and worked quickly and efficiently and ensured all the mess was contained. The whole project took a week to complete. I am very happy with the results and would highly recommend this company.

Horrible. They never clean up after the work. Left the demo for me to clean up. Jose said he has a crew and showed up with one guy. Only that guy worked and himself left immediately without doing anything. Initially he said he had a crew of three people. I had pay extra for the hauling away. Also his suggestion was to use my trash company for the other stuff. What a joke! The guy worked on my bathroom use my toilet instead of setting up a toilet outside. I do not think he has a valid contractor license. He has no common courtesy or common sense and definitely no professionalism. Showed up unannounced to my door before 7 am!! Waking me and family up from our sleep. Calls at 6:20am. He sprayed a chemical in my bathroom and did not cover the vents, it went all over the house and me and my family is suffering from headaches and nausea. Also when he was cutting the drywall he exposed my entire house to mold spores which I have to spend extra money to fix the damage he did not only to our healths but also to the quality of the air in my house. Testing, remediation, etc. Also, please educate yourself about hardiback for putting a tile ( that what he uses) because it causes cracks in your tile and that’s what Jose is using. Unless you want to spend extra money to replace the cheap material he is using Do yourself a favor and check everybody’s license and get a detailed estimate. Never hire them.

Wonderful work! Jose and his crew painted my existing cabinets and wet bar. Removed dated ceramic tile countertops and replaced with quartz. Added hardware to kitchen cabinets, installed new sink in kitchen and wet bar. Installed beautiful porcelain backsplash. He also installed new cooktop. I had the entryway ceramic tile and matching fireplace tile removed and they installed porcelain entryway tile and built up the fireplace. Jose also installed new large baseboards in entryway. They also replaced an electrical outlet to satisfaction. There was a small issue discovered and mold remediation was performed along with drywall removal & installation. New drywall was painted. Oh! They did roof repairs too! All work was done in a timely manner and was performed beyond satisfaction. His crew was polite and respectful and always showed up on time!! My house has now entered the 21st Century! I will definitely call them again.

Excellent team. Estimate two weeks to complete. Work was finished in two weeks as promised and on budget.

I bought what I thought would be needed to repair the toilet in hopes of keeping the repair costs down. When Affordable Handyman arrived he found that I didn't manage to get the right parts, so he took the parts and receipt back to the store to get what was right for my repairs. I gave him a key so he could lock up when the repair was complete. About 3 hours later he showed up at work reported the repairs were complete, and returned my key to me. They even used a heat gun to dry the wall by the stuck valve in order to prevent any mold growth. He was very concerned about the dogs being left in one small room for the day, but understood that because I wasn't sure how they would behave if I wasn't there with him and his crew, they couldn't be released into the rest of the house.

We needed someone to replace a wall up on the roof that had considerable dry rot. Jose gave a comprehensive bid that made it clear he knew exactly what needed done. We were impressed by his craftsmanship and professionalism. Whenever we need more work done, he will be the one we call!

My wife and I are very happy with the results. Jose and his crew were professional, prompt and respectful. He promptly informed me of necessary work changes and that gave me the opportunity to accept or reject any additional work. In the end, I went with all recommendations. The job went great. I thought it would have taken less time however, everything worked out perfectly and they completed the job a day earlier!

We hired Jose to repair our bathroom floor and install a walk-in shower. They did an amazing job, great communication. Jose is fair, punctual, honest, clean, courteous and affordable. This was actually 2 separate jobs, after they completed the flooring in the bathroom we called him back out the following week to install the shower. Jose Ortiz was excellent! Very professional. He worked with me on the price of the repairs and his work was exceptional. He was on time everyday that he was on the job and he worked continually without a break until the work was done. I was gone from my home a couple of weekend days and Jose and his crew worked on my roof while I was gone and this cut down the time needed to finish the job. The bedroom that he and his assistant remodeled turned out amazing to the point that you can't tell that there had been any issue with the big ceiling leak nor the water damage that the leak had caused. The room is better than it was originally before the damage caused by the leak. After the repairs we had some very heavy rains and there has not been a leak since the repairs by The Affordable Handyman. If you are looking for a contractor who is professional, punctual, fair priced ,courteous and conscientiousness about his work I highly recommend Jose Ortiz, The Affordable Handyman and his team. I had several estimates from other contractors for the repair work needed on my home, most of the quotes were either double what Jose's company charged me or much higher than the estimate I got from The Affordable Handyman. I hired Jose to hang kitchen cabinets and install tile flooring in my kitchen. I had ordered the cabinets and bought the tile. He came by to give me an estimate and at that time the old cabinets were still in the kitchen. He was going to charge me $960 to remove them. However, I remove them myself to save a little money. He also stated that the only unforeseen was what the wall behind the cabinets And the charge for that was fine. At first I thought Jose was professional because he gave an precise estimate. They showed up ready to work. However, he tried to nickel and dime me all along the way! He said he was going to keep the $960 that he was going to charge to remove the cabinets, because he had to remove some appliances (washer dryer refrigerator). After work was partially done he would say that there is an additional charge for something we had already agreed on, like preparing the walls for painting even though we had agreed on a cost to paint! He didn’t finish the project after he got paid, grout in the tile had holes in it and I had to repair it myself! He scratched The kitchen cabinets. He was hardly there and the paint job he did wasn’t even smooth. I even gave him a diagram of how the cabinet should be hung, how many, and he still tried to charge me extra because he said there were some more cabinets then he expected! I remove the old cabinets which was part of the original estimate, Yet he still he wanted to charge me for moving some appliances — that he didn’t move back! Eventually I had to make him sign an agreement that he would finish the job, everything included, for $6000—about $2000more than the estimate. He was Supposed to install and finish the tile molding—HE DID NOT! Don’t let him do any work without a full understanding and make him write down exactly what he’s going to do and charge! BUT BEWARE YOU STILL WON’T BE SAFE, He does not keep to his word. He also makes a lot of excuses to get around doing something that he is supposed to do! He is not trustworthy. HE IS NOT HONEST! Took a week off of work so that we can get the work done. Last day of the project I had to go to work and he was supposed to finish, so I gave him a check. Once I left he tried to take a vantage of the fact that my wife is a woman and did not return the appliances like he was supposed to — something he charged $960 for, AND TRIED TO GET HER TO PAY MORE MONEY! I am probably going to report him to the contractors board.

Woke up to a water leak due to busted line in my interior wall. My first and only call was to Jose as he has done great work at my home in the past. He made it a priority to get to my house as quick as possible to determine the problem and get it stopped. By chance I had another urgent matter come up while he was there regarding my fence, I needed to add height in order to pass a fence inspection for our pool and Jose was able to complete the job before my reinspection. We gave the damaged area a few days to dry out and it was put back and looks even better than before. My fence passed inspection and the modifications look great. Jose and his crew are great, professional, keep the work areas clean, prices are very fair, and most of all he and his crew are trustworthy and reliable. Thank you again Jose for helping us out.

Feb. 14th, 2019, Jose showed up on time and in heavy rain to give the initial estimate. He called in advance to make sure I was still available for the estimate. He gave a written estimate, with costs for specific parts of the job. He also gave an estimate of the supplies required, and told me I could purchase them myself, or he would do it and bring the receipts. We set a date for the work to be done, (02/26/2019) and he gave me a one hour time frame in which he would arrive. He arrived with an assistant by 8 am, and began working immediately. They did the job perfectly to my requests, and even offered a suggestion, which made the job look better. I'm very pleased with the work, and will definitely hire Jose from Affordable Handyman again.
