About us

We welcome the opportunity to help you with any type of landscape, hardscape, or swimming pool project you may have or weekly lawn and garden care as well! We have two sides to our business: 1) We have over 50 different pre-screened licensed and insured landscape, hardscape, and pool contractors that we work with in each of our markets. We meet you, design your yard, and then bid your job out to find you the best co. at the best price. Our service is free to the homeowners as we get paid a fee by the contractors. 2) In our Southern California markets, we provide regular lawn and garden service with a satisfaction guaranteed approach as you can switch between 100 diff cos. until happy. We unfortunately do not offer lawn and garden service in Northern California, just in our Southern California markets. We can help with any type of outdoor project whether it is major construction or simply a more professional way to get your weekly lawn and garden service. We have hundreds of contractors and gardeners that service our clients for us and you always have a professional office to call or email with any questions or concerns. Please see www.landscapelocators.net for more information and/or email us with any questions you may have at [email protected]! Please also take a moment to read our reviews on Angie's List. We work very hard to keep every single client happy and we are really proud of the excellent reputation we have built on Angie's List!

Kevin came over and gave us an estimate and had someone down promptly and it was done so quickly and timely, it was a pleasant surprise.

There was an attention to detail that I appreciated beyond words and I knew exactly who to contact if I had issues.

It as overall a great experience.  Everything was done  that I had asked to be done and beyond.

They came promptly and they did what we asked.  There were a lot of areas that were overgrown and it was a hard chore. It took them a while, but they got the job done.  They were quite punctual.

Overall, it was a great experience and excellent referral.  The price was competitive.  We haven't done the work yet due to other projects taking priority at the house, but we are definitely considering the bid for softscape landscaping in our front yard areas from the company they referred us to.

We demo-ed our entire backyard and were going to put in pavers and grass.  We had the pavers put in but the landscaper who was going to do the irrigation and grass doubled his price on us.  I was referred to Landscape Locaters and the owner immediately called me back.  I explained the scope of work (grading, leveling, irrigation and about 1,000 sq. feet of sod) and he said he would recommend doing it though their lawn care side rather than get a contractor involved.  Kevin came out and met with us within a couple of days and was able to start in about a week.  They were able to accommodate our schedule and kept us informed the whole way though.  We've decided to keep them on for weekly lawn care and when we decide to plant a few flowers we will definitely have them do it.

Very professional, and met our tight timeline.  A lot of work was done in a short amount of time and it was professionally managed.  We have a builder in our neighborhood as well as a real estate agent; both of them commented on the quality of work that was done.

I have used this company to maintain the landscape on two different houses in So. Cal. Their services are excellent and I am using them ongoing.

The experience was less than satisfactory overall.  Landscape Locators has two sides to their business; one is a license contractor  service, and the other is a gardening service that provides landscaping.  I was led to believe that the gardening service would have the training, skills and time to perform the services above, and they discouraged me from using the contractor side in favor of their own direct employees.

It turned out to be a mistake to use their people.  The demolition could not proceed on schedule due to their head gardener being unable to return to America, so the project was delayed by several weeks.  During this time, it was difficult to get any status updates, largely because the owners themselves had no idea when he'd be returning.  Once demolition started, things moved along for a few days and then the gardeners had to return to their own jobs, and the work (which I'd originally understood to be a weekend project) ended up dragging out over another few weeks.  I never really knew when the workers would be there and when they wouldn't be.

Once they were finished, I observed a number of problems.  They had cracked a concrete step that they were asked to leave intact.  This had to be repaired, and rather than repair it in the same color, they simply painted over the replacement concrete in a different color.  That paint has since peeled back, leaving the step unsightly.

The sod itself is uneven and large patches died almost immediately.  I asked that the dead sod be replaced, and that their gardeners ensure that the sprinkers were set correctly to ensure that it would take.  They replaced the sod and reset the sprinkler times, but the replacement sod has died off in large patches again.

The resulting lawn is a mediocre job.  The ground is wavy and has many small depressions, the sod itself has large dead parts, and the concrete repairs their work required were hastily done.  The end result is that I wish I'd gone with a different company, or with the licensed contractor side of the business.
Response from Landscape Locators

"We are really sorry that your project didn’t turn out as planned. In hindsight, it probably would have been better to have you work with the contractor side of our business instead of the maintenance side given the way things unfolded. We, however, were trying to get it done as inexpensively as possible for you as you indicated was your priority and we have literally done projects like yours hundreds and hundreds of times on the maintenance side of our business without any problems whatsoever (see other reviews just on Angie’s List alone!). As you stated in your report, the problem stemmed from the fact that the gardener to which we assigned your project had to leave the country to tend to a family emergency in Mexico. We obviously had no way of knowing about this, nor controlling it. We were told he would be back very quickly and thus it didn’t make sense to assign your project to a different crew as this gentleman was already most familiar with your project. Unfortunately due to circumstances out of anyone’s control, he ended up having to stay in Mexico much longer than anyone anticipated and thus your project dragged on much longer than it should and then suffered by some haste once he returned and was playing catch up. I feel it important; however, to make it know that we did stay in daily communication with you presenting various options and updates as we got them from Mexico and did everything within our power to keep you satisfied. When the job was complete we did replace the sod that died as you pointed out which can happen from time to time as sod doesn’t always take in every spot. This is the first we heard that some additional patches died later, and had you made us aware of this at the time, we gladly would have replaced them again. We hate to have even one client that is not 100% happy so we sincerely apologize that this job didn’t turn out as planned but it was just an unfortunately timing situation that happened."

Landscape Locators hired another guy to do the job. Initially I thought that it was the guy who was going to do it but he wasn’t. The other guy who came and did the job did a great job so I thought that his references and all that were good so I let them continue. Problem with Landscape Locators is that they didn’t do what they were trying to propose on Angie’s List and that’s what I am so much offended about. A lady came from landscape Locators and she claimed herself as landscape architect. I explained to her what I wanted and gave her diagram and this and that. She said that everything can be done, this can be done and that can be done. It was all sweet coated words and there was no commitment on it. Finally she went and prepared all the quotes and she came back. It was little bit pricy because I worked with other contractors to get the quote for the same. Then I understood that it was little bit pricy but at the same time I thought that whoever was going to do the work had good previous experience. So I thought it was okay. She didn’t come back after that and didn’t verify what exactly happened. But the guy who came in who helped me to revise my whole plan and who suggested a whole lot of different things that she didn’t do. I don’t understand why she came in to my door step and she didn’t do anything. She wasted my three days and also insisted me to put the marble. She also told me some nonsense ideas and I thought that it was possible and it would look cool but when I talked to the real guy who does the job, he explained to me that he couldn’t put some of the stones in the backyard in the landscape as it was going to break out, chip out and it is not going to be weather friendly. He explained and revised my plans and told me if I put those what would be the problems but if I knew the guy directly through Angie’s List then I would have gone to him instead of this agent. I would not use them in the future.
Response from Landscape Locators

"We are really sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your experience working with our Northern California representative; however, we are happy to hear that you were pleased with the work done by the contractor which we referred. As you can see, we have won the Super Service award on Angie's List the last two years in a row, so to even have one unhappy client really bothers us. We ask that you please keep in mind the exact role to which we promise to provide on the construction side of our business. We are here to help you figure out what to do in your yard and then get you apples-to-apples bids from reputable contractors bidding on the exact same interpretation of the project. All of the contractors are fairly priced and are skilled in the type of work you are having done and have done jobs for hundreds of our clients so we know you will be happy with the end result - which you were! The contractors, not us, are the experts on what materials will work and won’t work and that is why Susan chose those particular contractors to bid on your job so they will provide you with the proper guidance and not install a bad product. We do NOT profess to be paid designers or landscape architects and if that is what a client desires, then we suggest you hire and pay a designer or architect for such services as that is NOT what we provide nor claim to provide. We are terribly sorry if you didn't understand our role clearly as we try and make that point extremely clear from the moment you call our office. We are, however, happy that at the end of the day you got a quality job installed by a knowledgeable contractor at a fair price. We saved you countless hours of time trying to sift through the maze of choices out there and having to meet with each contractor individually. Please again accept our apologies if you thought we were providing you with free architectural services and we ask that you reconsider your rating of us based on the role which we claim to provide which is saving you time and hassle in finding the right contractor to install a quality job."

I have been using Landscape Locators for a few months and so far I'm thrilled.  Benji comes to my house once a week and does all the basic mowing, trimming, etc. In addition he has been monitoring and fixing my sprinklers, fertilizing, and assessing the condition of my grass and making recommendations.  He is very helpful and very responsive.  Recently we had and issue with my sprinklers and I emailed Kevin (partner-lead contact) around 7pm and he got right back to me even calling me to let me know what was going on.  Benji came over the very next day (before his other schedule appts) and we decided to replace the timer.  That same afternoon Benji had an estimate to Kevin (partner-lead contact) who contacted me immediately and we setup a time the very next day for Benji to come out and do the work which he did and everything is working great.  Any time I need anything as it relates to my landscaping I know I can contact Kevin and he will get right back to me and get it taken care of.  this is a great company and I would recommend them to anyone.

They responded very quickly and professionally by email and phone and put us in touch with a great landscaper.  They followed up when the work was completed to make sure we were satisfied.  We've worked with other referral services for contractors and appreciated the good recommendation from Landscape Locators and that they respond by email.

I had a few problems with them showing up in the time frame we had agreed upon. I called Kevin right away and he followed up with the pool service company and got back to me with the reasons within 5 minutes. The company came within an hour and did a great job. The next week there was some confusion again about the time frame, but once again Kevin followed up immediately and got it straightened out. I am looking forward to the next few months of continuing service.

Great experience. Kevin replied right away and I had a chance to tell him exactly what I needed. He scheduled my first service right away and I was very impressed.  The guys came, and they took a lot of time and care in getting my yard cleaned up, a service I didn't know I needed since I had had a weekly gardener for the last 2 years who was supposed to be taking care of everything in the yard.
I am excited to have a new company who really takes pride in the services they provide. I am currently picking out new plants for on of the planters, and they have offered to plant them for me for no extra charge the next time they are here.
Thank you Landscape Locators!! I am very relieved to have found a company I feel like I can trust.

Additionally, my tenant requested some enhancements to the yard.  Before work began I received a quote via email and upon my approval via email and the gardener was able to make these improvements the very next week.

All in all a very helpful business!  They inspire confidence and trust in what they say and seem to work with contractors who think similarly and are very transparent.  I would definitely recommend them to anyone else.

We wanted a new front yard with hardscape and landscape and did not know where to start to find a contractor. They helped with a design and then put the progect out to bid with contractors that they recommended. They walked us all the way through the process of selecting a contractor.

I was very happy with him. He comes here every Monday's. He is very reasonable, very nice and a good guy. He is meticulous and he really knows what he is doing. We have three dogs and if there's anything that they've messed up, he takes care of that. He is a one man crew and he spends a good couple of hours here. He does everything spotless and he does everything that the other guys weren't doing. He does things perfectly without even asking me what he wants. He has exceeded our expectations.

The convenience about them is what stands out. If we have any issues with the lawn care people that are servicing our yard, we call them, and they either deal with the issue or find a replacement vendor, which takes off one of the hassles. We spend about $80 a month on that service. We would tell a friend or family to definitely give them a call. We got an estimate from them and we would probably go back to them if we needed to have any more work done on the yard. The owner was the person that came out an evaluated our site and he was friendly.
