+ -1 moreI am totally satisfied with the service. He was very honest, punctual and VERY reasonable. The cost of the diagnosis was included in the repair. I told him I could only afford a certain price and he honored it! I would certainly recommend him to any one. I called him in the P.M. and he came the next A.M. ON TIME! Call him for repairs!

+ -1 moreFrom the initial phone call to the delivery of the repaired tv I am completely satisfied with the service. Where can you get anything nowaday's completely repaired including pickup and delivery for $85! Philip was very honest about the possibility of repair ( stated that if the problem was the sensor it could be fixed for $85 but if it was the motherboard it was not worth fixing) . Throughout the process he was very polite and genuinely very nice. I would not hesitate to use him in the future for any electrical appliance repair. One note, I had to laugh at the one negative repair written. I guess it's more important that a business name is given when answering the phone even if you have to pay 3X as much for the "professionalism". Go figure....

+ -1 moreVery responsive and professional. He picked up my TV and dropped it off. The problem was fixed. Only issue i had was there were a number of scratches and scuffs from the transport. Other than that the service was perfect. Phil came to my house within an hour after I called him.

+ -1 moreThis is the kind of service one can only hope for. Angies list has done it again. This is an amazinge vendor. Only downside is I don't get to by that new 70" smart TV (yet).
Description of Work: This guy was unbelieveable. Our 10 year old Mitzubishi Big Screen (box) went out the day before New Years eve. He came out on New Years eve at 5PM. Charged $30 for the trip. Took the computer brain back to his shop and returned two days later. Good as new for $130 including the trips to our home in Orange.

Description of Work: He came to my house, explained what he thought the problem was, said he may or may not be able to fix it, and gave me a quote. After a few days, he called to say had not been able to fix it yet, but he had a friend who was an expert in this type of problem and he wanted a few more days to pick his brain. He then called back with the good news that my TV was fixed and it was only the original price he had quoted me. He went over, way over and above any other service I would have received from anyone else. He fixed a TV that we had written off and bascially, he was a miracle worker and completely & totally honest, sincere & hard working.

+ -1 moreI can't say enough about Phillip of AM Electronics. He was honest and professional. I had called AM Electronics about 4:45 pm. I explained what was going on and he said could he call me back later. Since it was so late in the day I thought that I would not hear back from him until the next day. I was pleasantly surprised when he returned my call at 5:30 pm that evening. He said he would be there in about 15 minutes. He was punctual and pleasant. He had repaired the t.v. in about 45 minutes. I would not hesitate to call him again for service, in fact, he would be the first person I would call. I highly recommend AM Electronics for t.v.repair. You will not be disappointed.
Description of Work: There was no blue color my Mitsubishi rear projection t.v. He was able to repair the t.v. at my home! He found the problem right away. He cleaned the contacts on the blue picture tube and re-soldered a contact on the circuit board below the tube. I had had another t.v. repair service company work on my t.v. and they said that they had replaced the circuit board under the blue tube. Phillip told me that the circuit board had not been replaced by the other repair service and everything was still dusty. The other repair service had charged me over four hundred dollars for work they had not done.

+ -1 morePhilip answered my call and gave me a time to come over to look at the tv. He showed up promptly at 5:30 which had been the agreed on time. Was very well dressed and polite. Got right down to business and very quickly located the problem with the TV set and the connections. He realigned it correctly and then walked me through what he had done. Before he left, he made sure that I knew how to work all the remotes and understood the cable connections. It was a very pleasant experience.... the charge was far less than I had anticipated and I would not hesitate to recommend him to my friends. This was my first experience using Angie's list and it was very positive.

Description of Work: Sony TV turned funny colors....Philip came to the house and soon realized it was the mother board. He took the TV back to his shop, got the part and returned it to my home. + -1 more80and quot; Mitsubishi HD rear projection TV would not turn on and was having video problem such as one color out on part of the screen and some image distortion prior to the catastrophic failure. Phil, for A-M Electronics came right out, diagnosed the problem, then removed the electronic chassis to repair and calibrate in his lab. With Phil's technician contacts at the Mitsubishi service center and knowledge of the equipment, he was not only able to get the TV to turn back on again, he was able to replace some difficult to find components and calibrate the TV to operate like new again. We had used another repair service before and all they could do was get the TV to turn on again, but not fix the video issue. Phil's work is short of amazing. He is very knowledgeable, responsive, reasonably priced, and efficient. I am a degreed Electrical Engineer myself, so I know how difficult it is to find an Electrical Technician that really knows what they are doing as Phil does. Finding Phil was a goldmine for us. I highly recommend A-M Electronics.

+ -1 moreThe man who answered the phone at the business was at my home in a hour and when the problem resolved itself, he made sure everything was working properly before he left. No service charge was requested but we gave him $20 for gas and he was pleased. He was professional and polite. Because of his kindness and prompt service, I will use him again when I need a full service!!!! PS: this review was turned in late and I am unsure the exact date of the service, thus it is a guess.
Description of Work: Possible HDMI card problem, that turned out to be a simple reset issue.

+ -1 moreI was not happy initially with receiving an estimate and then a bill that were higher than the original quotes, and I was not happy that he did not deduct the estimate from the total bill as most companies do. When I asked him about it, he offered to accept what he had quoted. I went ahead and paid the full amount for the bill anyway as I was very pleased with his work. But, on a positive note though, Phil was very knowledgeable, performed everything as he said he would and for the most part, was punctual and kept to the timeline that he gave us. I was most impressed that he took my original phone call on a Saturday early evening and that he delivered the TV on a Sunday evening. Now that is service!! Two power supplies and a digital video processing board were replaced. The TV is completely repaired and fully functional again. This TV is more valuable to us than any of the new ones on the market because they don’t have the same capability, performance, reliability, for the size (80”) as the one that we have. We originally purchased it on sale for about $4,000. As a degreed (Bachelor of Science Electrical Engineering) Electrical Engineer from CSU Long Beach, I can accurately state that Phil is very competent at TV troubleshooting and repair, does so at a reasonable cost, and demonstrated exceptional customer service. I will highly recommend him to others, and I will contract him again in the future without hesitation.
Description of Work: I have an 80" Mitsubishi digital rear projection 1080i television. This TV was the last rear projection model built using high resolution CRT’s (8” or 10”) each projecting through a red, green, or blue lens to a mirror which reflects the image onto the back of a plastic screen. The TV was originally purchased about 2006. The green power light would blink when you powered it up, light would continue to blink for 30 seconds then go out, then the TV would turn on. Unit finally would not turn on at all. Also, some segments of the screen had incomplete/wrong color. Called A-M Electronics on Saturday evening, March 10, 2012 to leave a message, not expecting anyone to answer, but someone did answer and he took my call. He gave me a quote of $20 to do an estimate of the TV repairs and said that he would be out on Monday 12 noon. He arrived on time, checked out the TV, and gave me an estimate of about $480, but he also said the estimate was $33, not the $20 originally quoted. He removed the TV chassis from the enclosure of which, I had to help him carry it to his vehicle to take back to his shop for repairs and testing. It was pretty heavy, but not a problem for me. He stated that he would have the TV repaired and returned by the end of the week, so we agreed on Saturday. By Thursday, we called him as we had not heard from him to establish a return date and time. First he said Saturday, but wanted to keep the TV for another day to do some more burn-in testing which could cause early life failures of new components to occur in his shop during the testing. Better the TV or a component fail in his shop, than at my home when we are expecting to use it. We agreed to a Sunday, March 18, 6PM delivery. He arrived Sunday at 5:45 PM (early) with the TV. We carried it in and slid the chassis into the enclosure. He reinstalled/reconnected everything and the TV turned on right away and looked great.He wrote us a bill for $473 and did not deduct the estimate amount from the total bill.

Description of Work: The screen on our Pioneer plasma TV went blank and the standby light began to flash. The TV could not be turned on or off. We called Phillip who scheduled a pick up for the same day. He came with his helper who lifted the TV off the wall and took it to the shop. He called the next day and explained the problem, what it would cost and when it would be ready. We agreed and he fixed and tested the TV. He ended up returning it a day early, completely fixed at the estimated price. Additionally, he helped my wife fix some tuning and resolution issues on our other set when he returned, no charge.

His fee was very reasonable considering he picked up the tv and delivered it back to my house. I would recomend him to anyone.
Description of Work: I had very good service from Phillip, the owner of A-M Electronics. He repaired a 60" plasma that had a grey bar throught the bottom half of the TV.

+ -1 moreWe have a 2006 Samsung 61in DLP TV. It uses LEDs for the light source and the red LED failed. I called A-M and he came out the same afternoon to check on the TV. He called Samsung the next day and ordered the parts after contacting me with the repair price. He charged $20 for the initial visit. It took the parts about 7 days to arrive and he brought them out the same day and tried to install them at the house. The installation required more room than was available so he took the TV back to the shop. He installed the entire LED set as recommended by Samsung and brougt the TV back the next day, a Saturday, and set it up. He provides a one year warranty on his work. I am extremely satisfied with A-M's service and will call them again if I need TV repairs. He met all his time committments and performed the work for the price specified.
Description of Work: We have a 2006 Samsung 61in DLP TV. It uses LEDs for the light source and the red LED failed. The task required diagnosing the problem, obtaining the parts and installing them in the TV. The TV had to be adjusted to incorporate a new set of LED sources.

Looked at the TV and determined what the problem was. gave us a verbal estimate of what the part and labor would be. Called to verify this once he got back to the shop. called again the next day when it was determined that the part wasn't immediately available and gave us an estimate of how long the wait would be. Repair completed on time, on budget and with very satisfactory results. TV working fine!

+ -1 moreOur 3 year old big screen went blank. Found A-M on Angie's list and called Philip at apprx 2 pm. He came to our house by 4 pm and diagnosed the problem, ordered the part, and returned on Tuesday 1/4/2011 as promised. Part replaced, TV working beautifully, couldn't be happier. He charged $25 for the service call and $275 for the lamp and the labor/knowledge. I offered to pay the $275 up front, he declined, said I could pay when he came back to install it. I believe he is an honest, ethical businessman. For example, based on conversations we had regarding typical TV problems, in some cases, depending on the type of TV and the cost of repair, he would recommend buying a new TV rather than try to repair. And he's a very nice man. I'm very pleased.
