They did a fine job. I only dealt primarily with one man who owns the company. He was very polite and very professional. He gave me quotes for re-upholstering other pieces of furniture and of course no charge for that.

Using Angie's list as a guide, I selected Upholsterers with high grades in quality of work. Roman Upholstery was relatively close to my home. I visited their shop personally during business hours and saw that they had current work and that the shop itself was typical of these types of businesses. I spoke with Mr. Hipsman, outlined my objectives, and set a date for him to see the chairs. He arrived promptly on the appointed day, took notes and gave me a yardage estimate, which was substantially less than the generic estimate of the fabric suppliers (and there was still material left over after the work). Mr. Hipsman provided an estimate by mail in the next days and I acquired the fabric. Roman Upholstery can also do this but it wasn't pushed. We agreed on a start date, he visited the house with tack samples for selection and picked up the chairs exactly when promised. He contacted me about progress as promised and delivered the results on the very day estimated (two weeks). The result was beautiful, detailed work, neat, taut and classic. It turned out that the oak was so solid that they had to pre-drill every tack hole (more than a hundred) but they did not charge extra for this circumstance. I highly recommend this firm to others.

I had contemplated just buying a new inexpensive sofa but knew that the existing sofa that had been damaged (cushions torn up, fabric ripped) was a very good quality sofa that would cost $3,000 to replace at the same quality. I also had no time to go shopping for fabric. Roman Upholstery brought a number of samples to my house for me although they have many more at their shop, they directed me towards fabrics that would stand up well to the dogs and could easily be cleaned. Also I wanted the cushions redesigned. The price was very fair and they left with the sofa. I have a horrible steep driveway that they had to manage as well. The sofa was ready in a couple of weeks and they even made an extra cover that I can fling over the sofa for the dogs. The sofa looked fabulous, they had made it look more contemporary than its original look (which is what I wanted). Everything was at the price they originally quoted. It cost me about $500 more than getting a cheap IKEA sofa. Thrilled with their service.

Due to a tighter budget this year, I couldn't use their services, but I do think their quote was fair. I love how they said they come out and personally measure for each piece they make, for no extra charge, even something as small as dining chair cushions. I spoke with Steve, who was professional, and explained very well how the process works, how many yards of fabric I would need to buy, and what the lead time would be (7-10 days). It would've been about $70-80 per dining chair cushion, or $95-105 if it had a welt or if it were a box cushion. The only problem I had was that it took them quite a while to return my first phone call. After that, we played phone tag a bit, but I wouldn't say that was their fault. I love their closeby west Los Angeles location, and I do think I will use them in the future.

Overall, I was satisfied with the service. They seemed very good, but I did not end up using them.

They were close by and we wanted the work done, so we chose them. They provided the fabric for the chairs. Their work was good, but they were expensive. It took them about three weeks to complete the job. I dropped the chairs off at their place and picked them up. They were punctual and they treated me well.

It was a great experience. I got their name from Angie's List. I contacted them, Art was very helpful-in that he explained the best way to proceed with upholstery-and we even discussed the price range for fabric-since I was new to this. The estimate process was easy-since I was able to send the size of the pieces and photos-and Roman gave a prompt and fair quote. They picked up the pieces, gave me a completion date-and actually finished the job prior to final due date. They were also great at communication throughout the process. They delivered the pieces to our home today-and they look great. We are very, very happy with their work.

They gave me a fair estimate, picked up the furniture on time, it was ready on time, the bill was no more than the estimate, and they delivered it on time. The quality of the work was excellent, and all the people involved were courteous and helpful.

THEY WERE VERY ATTUNED TO THE CUSTOMERS' NEEDS AND PROVIDED PROMPT PICK UP AND DELIVERY. OVERALL, IT WAS JUST A GREAT EXPERIENCE. IT WAS HIGH QUALITY FABRICS AND THEY WERE VERY ADAPTIVE TO MY NEEDS. THEY WERE ABLE TO REPRODUCE THE ORIGINAL LOOK AND FEEL OF THE SOFA.
