The team always arrived when planned. On the one day they needed to change their arrival time, the office called me promptly in the morning to let me know, which I really appreciate. Everyone was happy to answer any questions I had, and they always let me know when the water needed to be turned off. They also made sure I had working plumbing every day.
Despite digging a massive trench in my front yard, my neighbors were surprised I was having such major work done because my yard was left so clean every night. And they worked just as hard at making sure they returned the dig zone back to it previous condition.
Reilly (my project lead) was very personable, professional and had excellent follow-up. He was very clear about what each phase of the project would entail and they stood by their original bid, even when the digging was more than anticipated. In general a super nice dude. I have also spoken with the owner, Robert, who is truly interested in making sure his clients are happy with the work performed.
I am so pleased to have discovered Ford's Plumbing. They do a really quality job, and are great to work with.
"We at Ford's strive to provide excellent customer service. When we received notification of your report, we immediately looked into the situation; we reviewed all incoming calls, polled our answering service for any afterhour or possible missed calls, and checked our customer and dispatch records. Unfortunately, were unable to locate your information or the address that you have mentioned. It is possible that you may have spoken to another plumbing company. If you are willing, contact our office at 310-815-1515, and we would be happy to come out to your property and meet you for a proper estimate to take care of your plumbing needs."
UPDATE: After posting this review, Ford's Plumbing's customer service has since called me back and offered to refund my $90 whilst apologizing for a "Mix up" with this quote. I appreciated that gesture, and it demonstrates the power of Angies list reports.
Looking at the A level recommendations on Angie's list, I emailed two plumbing companies regarding a backed up toilet, and Ford's plumbing called me back within 15 minutes. They promised to have someone at my door to deal with a clogging problem within an hour-----and just as they said----their serviceman was at my door. Their serviceman, Bruce Reilly, was courteous, professional, and solved my problem quickly---and even offered up advice on how to perhaps having to avoid calling a plumber in the future by offering a way to solve the problem.
Would I call Fords plumbing back again? Absolutely.
The plumber, although late, was courteous and clean, which I really appreciate. The price was fair. And, he cleaned up after himself. I would give an overall rating of an A.
The work was performed with a minimum of disruption to our routine. I checked progress regularly, but not too often. Both plumbers were pleasant and talked freely about what they were doing / had done.
The work could not be completed in one day, and the weekend intervened. As the hot water at the sink was not working as expected, we called to ask if there was something we did not understand. Robert answered the phone, and insisted on having one of his workers come to our house and help us. The worker, it turns out, lives only a couple of streets away, and arrived in a couple of minutes. He did some work, and we had hot water.
On Monday morning, the workers showed up as scheduled and completed the work.
Satisfactory all around.
My reason for any downgrade in rating is due to 2 elements: I hindsight, I now know the work could have been done for less money. But I again mention my need for speed so I didn't have time to bid this like I should have. The second reason for the downgrade is that I found out later that it was not necessary to tear up the concrete like they did. A portion of the concrete that was torn up was a pathway, maybe 3 feet wide. Other vendors have told me that it would have been possible to dig a hole under the path and run the pipe under the path without cutting the concrete. It was just an added expense for me because I had to have someone come to repair the holes in the concrete. (Not Ford's, by the way, they only tear up the concrete, they don't fix it.)
Overall, I'd recommend them for their work habits and professionalism. But I would suggest getting multiple bids before securing them on a job.
"Thank you for using Ford's Plumbing. I apologize that you did not receive anything but an A+ experience. We strive for excellent service. Normal company procedure with any stoppage or snaking job is to inspect the pipes after clearing the stoppage to make sure there is no leaking or draining under the structure. I apologize for not getting permission to enter under your house, and for not replacing the boxes. Lastly, all materials used at Ford's Plumbing are high grade, and approved by the California Plumbing Code Department. Given our commitment to excellence, we welcome a call from you to regain your confidence."
